So the 9.3 is out, and I have been so excited about all those new features. While playing around the new WebDAV support, I got a question about it and really hope someone could help me.

It just seems that FreeNAS only allows user webdav to access the WebDAV shares added to your volumes. Is this really the case? If so, then I have to say this is quite disappointing since it does not keep certain directories from guest users. I may haven't fully explored the feature, but I am really...

Two FreeNAS servers running FreeNAS-11.0-U4 (54848d13b)

This may seem like an easy question but I have a primary and a backup FreeNAS server and I have about 40 users and a handful of groups and I want the backup FreeNAS server to be able to operate like the primary in the event the primary fails. I already have all of my replication and shares taken care of but I was wondering how I could easily replicate my users and groups. I assume that I can just copy my /etc/passwd and /etc/group...

TLDR:  Installed FreeNAS on USB drive w/ UEFI startup option, put in WD Sentinel DX4000, hold recovery key and it boots to the FreeNAS USB.  Got on the web interface, created storage volumes/datasets/NFS shares- works flawlessly.  I cannot get the WD hardware to boot to the USB drive without holding the recovery button on the back of the NAS.  To me this is probably not reliable storage with power outages, etc.  I'm posting here hoping either someone has done this before or has experience...

Hi-

Im trying to install FreeNas on the following spec system - problem I have is that after it boots to the install media, the system reboots. I would like to see if there is anything in the hardware that might be causing this, the only think I could identify is that I am not using ECC RAM - I havent found a clear answer on if it must be ECC or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.   I recently fresh installed freenas 11 after getting tired of the endless corral bugs.  After install I remounted my pool and everything has been great since.  I'm trying to clean up the detritus that corral left behind and I've hit a wall.  I can't delete/destroy the storage/vm dataset.  When I do it says that storage/vm/nextcloud_1/os is busy.  nextcloud_1 was a VM I was running under corral.  I don't have any VMs in 11 currently and as far as I can tell nothing should be touching...

Hello all,

I have changed my motherboard + cpu + mem because i wanted ECC memory. In this new setup i have a Xeon without integrated GPU. The point is my old installation was installed as UEFI boot. I wanted to boot without external GPU and have read that i need to make a new installation with just BIOS boot. All is working great with my new USB stick and BIOS boot but i'm getting the following message every 1 min in my console.

Anyone else having this issue?  I dont think it's a freenas problem.

I tried creating multiple Jails with a plugin, installing it manually into a jail, I even tried an ubuntu docker image and after logging into http://[local_ip]:32400, I get the typical plex screens, but it just says "Searching for servers" in the top left.

I cant get the darn thing to know that it's a server.  Anyone have any suggestions?

I know it's supported - it's listed in documentation, I can find it in the UI - but I literally don't know what do I put in which field.
Documentation pretty much only says it's there, and I wasn't able to find more information on the forums.
Can someone tell me how can I configure it?

Hi
I have tried to setup an Apple time machine share by following a guide on this forum however it will not show on my Macs network. If I make an SMB share then it does show on my Macs network? But I do not want this as I will be using the disk as a time machine.

So I wanted to start a new thread so as not to mix my questions.  I've started playing with SMB.  I think I have it working except for one thing.  Here is what I did:

* Enabled Active directory in FreeNAS and authenticated to my domain using only those settings in basic mode
* Created a dataset
** set the owner (user) as a \\domain\admin
** The owner (group) is wheel.
** Permission type is Windows
** Under edit the share type is Windows
* Created a SMB share and enabled browsing

Hello,

I'm trying to setup Resilio.

I've followed this guide by iX systems with regards to settings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sb_9283BkA

The plugin starts, I get the box to press "here"

Greetings!

So glad I ran across the FreeNAS community before pulling the trigger on a QNAP.  I completed my first FreeNAS build this past weekend and my only "problem" now is that the box pegs its 1 Gbps NIC on file transfers!  I can live with those types of issues all day long!

Like so many others, I was able to answer my build questions from the superb documentation and past posts on this forum.  Now, time to dig into some more FreeNAS networking documentation and let this box really...

I never create a NFS share on Freenas, while I used mostly a ISCSI connection
My Freenas system is a server member off a UNC Samba4 domain.
I create a Datastore provide domain\administrator all rights on it.
Share this datastore as an NFS share with krb5 security settings


When I try to mount, this share from the samba server, I receive:  mount.nfs4: Operation not permitted

Yesterday I started seeing an issue where the webgui would not load properly.  I could login, but the gui was mostly blank after a successful login.  The banner across the top is all that I can see.  Stopping and starting django fixes the issue.  I was having the problem in U3, then upgraded to U4, but still had the problem pop up again today.

Noticed these errors in the log:

I was thinking that adding a serial port to my FreeNAS would make life easier, and might eliminate the need to attach a monitor.  I found an old dual serial card which I plugged in and tested under a live USB linux distro, and the dmesg recognized the card.

I'm in the process of upgrading to FreeNAS v11U4.  In the past I have not used any type of jails.  

I am thinking about running a jail or VM or two on my freeNAS, but am a bit concerned if I am going to be making future upgrades hard.

In the past upgrades have been very, very easy.  Just install the new S/W, and import the pools... everything has just worked fine.

I understand that jails/VMs are much less mature and if I understand what I read correctly, there are some significant changes...
