HP Microserver 40L - new file server

Good morning. I currently have two N40L Microservers - each with 4x2TB HDDs in. One is a legacy 8.20 installation, the other with 11.2 installed and the data is being migrated over (the old server will not work with the latest version of Windows 10 which requires SMB2+)

Is it possible to retail the disk pools on the 8.20 box, and install (with a new USB memory stick) 11.2 directly on, adding the disks without data loss? I have a full backup on the new box, so if it didn't work it wouldn't...

Freenas 11.2 all jail access failed after replicating a pool

I had all my jails running in a pool which is snapshot recursively once a day. I decide to replicate those to a different pool on the same server and having done that I couldn't access any jails. From the GUI all that showed was an activation of a pool request. From the NAS shell I got the following:

CIFS/SMB - AD - Quotas and reported share size

Hello,

I made a homes directory wich is working properly thru AD

When the end user see its homes share they see the total dataset quota size (i set it to 50G) wich at the moment its fine.

Then i set the next command for make a per user quota, setting it to 6G

zfs set userquota@"Domain\User"=6G Sata/COMON

Then the user continue seeing it as a 50G share, so i tryed to add the next line to the "Auxiliary parameters" under the CIFS network share "COMON"

Hi Everyone,
so over the weekend i decided to finally give freenas a try and so far i am loving it!!!

currently i am not running raid, have an 8TB hard drive and a 2TB hard drive.
also have a 4TB hard drive with bad sectors, but not planning on using it for now.

So, I have about 2TB of data that i can not afford to loose,photos, videos...

Will it be possible to create a 2TB pool on the 8TB hard drive and set it to mirror or replicate to the 2TB drive?

I have been using freenas for at least 6 years, with a great performance out of a Huge PC, But now we are going as the book states :)
What about the below HW config? do the dell HBA330+ good for freenas ? does it suffer any drawbacks with freenas ?
and please any recommended modification for the below ?

Note.. here where i'm being, we can't purchase the supermicro easly, due to lake of local distributer/resellers and after sale support.

buona sera a tutti,
volevo chiedervi alcuni consigli.
ho lasciato spento il mio server per circa 3 mesi e adesso non si avvia piu il software freenas,
avevo la versione 11.1 e possibile avere indicazione dove poterlo scaricare ?
io prima avviavo il tutto su una pennetta dedicata e nuova ma siccome e la seconda volta che mi salta tutto , ma conviene metterla su un piccolo hard disk?

Hi guys, I'm been watching the forum for long time but never posted.

Trying to be proactive on solving a potential issue with my ZFS pool.
I have a homebrew FreeNAS server which has been running for several years and has survived motherboard replacement and other minor catastrophes.

Current with all the releases of FreeNAS, now at 11.2
The server was first built with three 3 TB WD red drives in a raidz1-0 pool, over the years I've added additional drives one at a time to a point where now...

Hello all,

This is my first post to this forum. My history regarding ZFS is from Nexenta and have now been getting inspired to update and move to FreeNAS that I had thought a few years ago already as my next server OS.

I have to say that the amount of information that has been generated here in the resources section, guides and FAQs is overwhelming. They have been a huge help in getting familiar with FreeNAS and its requirements... Thanks to all that have contributed to these resources...

Создал пользователя, и группу shares.
Создал том и набор данных с владельцем группы shares.
Создал общий ресурс Windows SMB.
Служба SMB:
-- Dos кодировка СP1251
-- UNIX кодировка UTF-8
-- маска файла 1777
-- маска каталога 1777
-- минимальная версия протокола ( ставил разную)
-- максимальная версия протокола SMB3_00

ПРОБЛЕМА:
с компьютеров локальной сети под Windows 7 эта шара отлично работает,
а компьютеров под windows xp sp3 - нет.

Не принимает логин и пароль.

I started another thread regarding using a large chassis, but I don't want to take that thread too far off topic. I have decided that a 24-bay server is simply too large for what I will likely ever need, so I would prefer to find a 12-16 bay server that will meet my needs. I am open to buying only the chassis and building the rest, but I also wouldn't be opposed to a slightly older server that already...

I am looking to build my first freenas after my readynas took a crap the other day.

I am able to get my hands on multiple E5-2609 v2 and 32 8GB ECC 1600 DDR3 chips

Which motherboard would be best as i'm not seeing too many options out there. I only have 4 drives, and might upgrade to 8 max

Hello,

I recently installed FreeNas 11.2 on a surplus Dell T3600 with 36gb ram, 4 core Xeon processor with a 635 watt power supply. The server OS is running off a Samsung EVO 128gb SSD connected to SATA port 0 on the Motherboard. Two of 3 8TB Western Digital Red NAS HDD are connected to the SATA ports on the mother board and one is connected to a PCIE card in one of the slots on the board. The volume is set up as a stripe configuration yielding total capacity of just under 24tb.

Sorry if doubleposted. But couldnt find a trouble report for this.
My dashboard reports for memory usage, cpu temperature and disk temperature all report 0 degrees/GB as current. History shows correct for memory use and cpu temp.

System installed on 11.2 Beta1 and upgraded.

I've been a freeNas 4Tb user for around 5 years now and have been using it to provide network file-storage for our Heart4Children.org organization without any trouble, until now that is :-(

One disk started warning two weeks ago so I asked a visitor from Germany to bring me two new (slightly bigger) drives (one array in mirror formation) which I received. By the time they left after 5 days I wanted to change my drives (one by one) but by now I could not...
