I updated to 11.3 today and when I did I could no longer access my Plex Server. I tried a couple of the 'fixes' that other people have posted on the forum but nothing worked. I thought no problem I'll just delete the jail and start over.

Well... now I can't even get the new jail to load the web gui. Here's what I did...

1. Manually create a jail.
2. Link storage for that jail.
3. update and install

Hello,

So my FreeNAS is up and running; pools and shares are setup and they meet my needs.
I followed Uncle Fester’s Guide and I have setup my scheduled jobs for scrubs, S.M.A.R.T scans, snapshots, etc.

I would like to ask a couple questions and get your recommendation on a few areas:

• I have configured email notifications; however I don’t get any report when the smart scans are complete. Am I supposed to get these?
• What do you guys recommend for home offsite backups...

Trying to figure out when I would use which kind of jail (base vs clone). It all started when I was trying to clean up my snapshots and found one named for my one and only jail.

I read the manual which explains each. It seems a base jail has a mount point of the base OS whereas clone is a clone of (a snapshot of) the base jail. The default is clone. I'm trying to figure out when I would use each. Below I have tried to list what I think are true about each:

Hello, I had a drive that started giving read and write errors so I warrantied it. When trying to get resilver the drive, it faults with multiple read and write errors. I've tried this multiple times. So apparently not the drive. I've tried with a different cable as well. Can anyone help me begin to troubleshoot this? Here is the output of zpool status.

I was reading today a lot of threads regarding things such as "slow speeds over 10gbe" or "slow SMB speeds" and some other, and I came to a conclusion my head is going to blow up.

Hello,

i'm new with freenas 11.3 and i'm running freenas for small company but we face problems with SMB i can't have good control to my network plz if any one can help or give good idea for this issues:-

1- auto logout for user not active = deadtime not working i don't know why ?

2- i need to ask the user about password again when he need to delete the file !!

I'm thinking of adding a NVMe drive to my FreeNAS. Do I need it, no, but it would be fun to play with. Any why, I'm trying to figure out what what specs on a drive are best suited to the way ZFS reads and writes.

Hi all,

I have been playing around for a while with freeNAS and I had a few things working how i wanted but they I messed everything up so did a complete wipe of the machine and started from scratch.

I am now having an issue with running an ubuntu 18.04.4 desktop VM. In the installation, the mouse works fine in VNC, but as soon as it finishes and I boot into it, the mouse on the system just stops following mine. I cannot find any reason it's doing this, and it was working just fine...

Here's an interesting observation wondering if anyone has seen this behavior before and/ or could explain it.

New SuperMicro FreeNas 11.3 U2 box
32 Threads
128 GB Ram
Dual 10 GB SFP+
iSCSI Multi Path
ESXi DataStore
VMware RoundRobin set in iSCSI adapter on ESXi.

When performing IO load testing for reads/ writes/ mixed loads we see in/ out data on one of the 10 GB Nic ix0 all the time which is expected.

On the second 10 GB Nic ix1 we only ever see in data Zero out...

About to set up Zoneminder plugin on my Freenas, but I was wondering how much RAM would be required for smooth operation of 2-3 POE cameras (1440p). Currently, I have 16GB ECC - should this be sufficient? Thanks in advance.

I understand that currently there is no official support of USB passthrough to VM. However, reading this thread (https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/vm-usb-passthrough.47134/), I see that it is possible to passthrough USB, but this requires disabling xhci therefore preventing booting from USB.

However, since I boot from an SD drive, so does this mean I can disable xhci and enable USB passthrough without any adverse effect? Is there any expected timeframe for official...

I've searched the forum for this problem and not found it mentioned in the way I am experiencing.
I have just upgraded to 11.2 and most things have worked out well.
Only thing is trying to load plugins (and create jails).
This is what I get

Добрый день форумчане!
Я столкнулся с непониманием и не знанием.
Каждый устанавливаемый плагин формирует виртуальный сетевой интерфейс, и соответственно получает свой уникальный IP адрес.
А можно ли сейчас (11.3-U2) настроить плагины так, чтоб они имели IP от хоста (т.е. самого freenas)?
В настройках jail перепробовал все (или почти все, поэтому не могу получить результат).
