MineOS Install

Hello

I'm totally new to Freenas & Linux. I have bumbled though setting up a Freenas Server with Mirror raid etc. (all working well)
I am now trying to workout how to install mineos but all the guides I find are old or assume you know home to do some parts.
Can some one please point me in the right direction on how to install the mineos so i can set my sons up a minecraft server.

Hi,

I got errors after my linux virtual machine land to the login page see screenshot.

I use ubuntu-20.04-live-server-amd64 and do a straight install. Before I update to FreeNAS-11.3-U2 I was on to FreeNAS-11.3-U1 and all was working fine (befor in FreeNAS-11.3-U2 i was in UEFI, on a usb key).

Quickest way to backup everything?

I've been trying to find a quick way to backup all the FreeNAS necessities.

From what I've found, that would be:
- FreeNAS config file
- Jails
- Datasets set outside of iocages

Issues:
- Rsync files to a cloud is not secure, and encrypting it isn't necessary for local backup.
- Replicate a dataset to an SMB folder will cause file permission issues as the files aren't permitted to other local users.
- Backing up each jail individually requires to stop the jail, and the zip path can't...

Quickest way to backup everything?

Hallo zusammen,

benötige bitte eine Schritt für Schritt Anleitung (gesamte Befehle) wie ich Nextcloud konfiguriere. Langsam werde ich Wahnsinnig bei 1000 Anleitungen bei dem Thema.
verstehe einfach die Installation nicht.
Plex hat wunderbar funktioniert bei nextcloud komm ich an die Grenzen.

I have installed Freenas 11.3 U1 from scratch and trying to add Plex or Emby plugin. When I try to install any, it gives me attached error.

Installing Jails to new drive

Hi everyone,

Running FreeNas FreeNAS-11.3-U2.1.

I recently added one extra drive and created a new pool out of it (called external1TB). I also have an existing jails SSD (let's call it SSDpool) installed purely for installing jails but it is running out of bytes, hence this drive.
My original SSDpool holds a number of jails such as plex, gitlabserver, nextcloud etc.
I installed one jail to my new (external1TB) drive via webgui.

I have 2 questions...

It seems like there are lot of guides here on installing Nextcloud, and a number of people reporting problems with many of them. So, I figured, why not write another one? This is inspired by the work of @kjake in his scripts to build jails for Unifi and Crashplan, and largely follows the process that @dureal99d documented...

SMB shares not showing in network browsing

I'm running FreeNAS-11.0-RC2 and my SMB shares will not show up in my network nor will my freenas box. I can type the IP address in the address bar and it will pull up the shares and it works fine however when I close that browser window they are no longer accessible.

Hi guys,
Iam new to freenas so looking forward to find some help here.
Currently i have a freenas server setup from an older pc. I brought 2x intel x540 10gig NIC.
1 for the main rig 1 for the NAS. The network card has 2 connection. Here is how phisically they are connected at the moment:
Freenas server 1 cable to the route 1 cable to the main rig
Main rig 1 cable to the route 1 cable to the freenas server
What iam tryin to achive that both be connected to the internet via the router with 1...

Connect NAS to router as well as my pc in the same time

I been using FreeNAS for 3 year now, most I use is files system & plex server, 2*4TB hard drive running mirror for Movie and family photo, 1*5TB for work. The big consider is I want todo a full PC backup like Norton ghost to FreeNAS, When my PC crash I don't need to reinstall all the software and driver again.

1st. I had try install clonezilla server on FreeNAS VM, but not working, keep kick me out in 2 sec.
2nd. install clonezilla on other pc.
3rd. thats what am I using right now...

Need suggestion !!!

Hi guys,

I'm a bit of a Ubuntu novice and would appreciate the help. I'm on Freenas 11.3-U2.1 (see hardware specs on my sig). I installed my VM of Ubuntu Server 18.04 a while back and it's running a pi-hole server fine. I tried updating to 20.04 LTS since it's available but I'm getting an error saying that I don't have enough disk space. This is bizarre to me because I allocated 100GB zvol for my ubuntu server. I currently only run Pi-hole in this VM so I should have a ton of space left...

Hi,

I have been happily running an internal hardware RAID5 (LSI 9260-8i) for almost 10 years with no data loss. First it was 4x 2TB, then 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x (online expansion is awesome!). Later I've upgraded to 5x 4TB, then 6x, 7x and finally (now) 8x 4TB (again using online expansion). I am aware of the risks involved with RAID5 on such large arrays and I have an (often outdated, but still...) offline backup to cater for this risk...
This is all inside my main desktop computer, which I turn...

How do I turn off the display?

I'm running FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64 on a laptop. As I want to save power, and primarily use SSH and the WebGUI to manage FreeNAS, I'd like to turn off the display the majority of the time. The screensaver is insufficient for this purpose.

Can this be done?

New 2nd NIC created dependency for 1st NIC's connectivity

I'm on 11.3 with an original setup of network on just igb0. WebGUI and SSH successfully going to thisigb0 IP address and bridge0 contains my jail vnets as well as igb0. Everything working great. I've now added a second NIC which mounted as em0 and after configuring it I see that em0 has replaced igb0 in bridge0. This is fine as my intent was to run my jails through em0 anyway. (Side question: did this happen because the dynamically created bridge0 found the new em0 alphabetically...
