What is the benefit of running say sonarr + jackett + transmission+openvpn as truecharts catalog items over just deploying the same as docker containers from linuxserver.io?
I understand that TrueNas Scale implements K8s to "orchestrate" the docker containers as charts, but they are still essentially separate things, right?
When I "add docker", I'm also getting a standalone k8s "wrapped" container? what is the difference? More overhead? More efficiency?

I believe one of the features attracting users to SCALE is the addition of a more mature virtualization solution available on Linux to an already mature ZFS based storage solution. However when we compare the virtualization features, UI and UX currently offered on SCALE to more mature virtualization solutions like XenOrchestra / XCP-ng and Proxmox there are some opportunities for improvement.

Is there a way to limit local zfs send/receive speeds?
Massive dataset was "accidentally" nuked by moron co-"admin" in attempt to remove SMB share...
Now I have 16 hours replication to do, but when replication runs i cannot use receiving pool for anything, it takes 2-3 minutes to list folder contents.
it's HDD I/O limited, CPU runs at 10-15% utilization.

Using the community plugins in TrueNAS on latest. (TrueNAS-12.0-U3)
Issue within plugins: On web UI, the mapped paths do not appear in the applications, nor can lidarr update. (Startup folder not writable by user 'lidarr')

Plugins and jails complete successfully, with the exception of the following sonarr example:

OK so I have a TrueNAS setup running current updates/OS. Its an DL380p Gen 8. Originally I put the onboard HP P420i into HBA mode and used the disks in it. It worked fine for the most part and would crash occasionally (likely due to this). Hey guys,

So I recently unencrypted my system, following that guide from 2013, and now I'm trying to figure out how to encrypt my data using the new native encryption in freenas 12. Here's my structure:
Data
----->Users (want to encrypt with password)
------------->Usernames
----->Media
------------->Movies
------------->TV Shows
------------->Music
------------->Torrents (want to encrypt with password)
----->"other stuff"

I've used up 25 TiB, and I have 15.3 TiB free. I have no spare...

This is not really a thread asking for help, hopefully this can help some others.

I recently changed to Windows 10 because my new system is a Ryzen 5. I used to be able to access FreeNAS shares using Windows 10, then two days ago I stopped getting access with a generic can't access this share type error. Hi,
I'm trying to change the default directory of the SSL certificates on my TrueNAS-12.0-U3.
I found on the forum several guides that explain how to achive this result. In particular in System->Tunables is necessary to add the variable SSLDIR (type=rc.conf) and specify in the value the new path in wich the certificates are (I created a directory /cert using ssh).
The problem is that after I added this variable and enabled it the path dosen't change.
Any ideas?

This is my first post on this forum and i would appreciate any help.
I'm using FreeNas/TrueNas for the last 5 years , so can't say i don't know what im doing. Before yesterdays upgrade, i had TrueNas12-U2 installed and working without any issue, using SMB/iSCSI and Apple Shares with no issues whatsoever. I’ve changed the pool setup on my Truenas Scale box from Spinning to Flash. The main pool will consist of 2x Optane 900p 280GB mirrored for Metadata and 6x Samsung QVO 8TB configured as 3 mirrors. I have configured the UPS configuration in TrueNAS in slave mode to use a UPS running on another server. Everything works fine except for the UPS tab in Reporting in TrueNAS. That is staying blank. over the years I got more and more pictures.
currently I have them all on a SMB share in folders.

probably many of them are double, they are not sorted in a proper way.... it is a mess

I can remember, that google had a photo tol called picasa with auto face recognition, tagging pictures for geo location etc.
