Several things are not working, monitor hookup and serial interface does not work.  Yet we can get to one of the nic interface via dhcp.  Unfortunately the web interface is very unfamiliar.  ASRock is the web interface able to be reached, yet this was not the interface I had worked in previously.  It was a freenas interface.

Is the system caput or can I recover from this interface?

Writing speed depends on install location

Hey FreeNas!

Yesterday I installed FreeNAS 11 on two thumb drives attached to a server that handles 12 sata disks behind a storage controller configured there as a raid0 array and in FreeNAS itself configured as an raidZ3.

Somehow the writing speed that it produces was around 40 mb/s, the same writing speed that the USB2 produces. After which I installed FreeNAS again on a mini-hdd, which produces a writing speed of around 100mb/s.

In short my question is: Why is FreeNAS it's writing...

FreeNAS 11.1-U4 Jail Oracle JDK Port Build ELF Errors

I'm running a Java-based application in a FreeNAS iocage jail.  I've been experiencing some serious performance issues with OpenJDK, and the software vendor actually recommended that I not use OpenJDK but rather use the Oracle JDK.  So this is the path I'm on.

I've enabled the linux_load tunable in FreeNAS and kldstat shows the proper modules are loaded.

However, when I attempt to build the port using the documentation on the FreeBSD web site (https://www.freebsd.org/java/ -...

Hi all
Just joined after a fair bit of reading. Probably started the same as you looked at a synology system then realised qnap was better but couldn't quite find the hardwear spec i required for sensible investment. Looking to build a nas that can do 4k transcoding needs to be 10 gbe with maybe 40 to 50 Tb. I have started reading up on the hardwear but to honest i am a bit out of my depth, budget not a real issue just one a good future proof system. Any help greatly appreciated

FreeNAS 11.1U4 /w Intel 10gb NIC and Jails No Network

This morning I updated to FreeNAS 11.1U4 and everything was looking good until my system started booting my jails. The instant the jail bridged to my Intel x520 dual 10gb NIC link light dropped and I lost all my network on that interface. I was previously running with FreeNAS-9.10.2-U3 (exact hw same config) or almost a year and never had any issues. I searched around a bit and found a bug which describes my issue exactly. I ran most of the steps in the bug and I got the same results. I...

eBay/Amazon Question

Near the end of 2017, I purchased an HPE Proliant ML10 Gen9 and some accessories for a FreeNAS box.  After I purchased it, I decided to return but apparently HPE has a no return policy, even though unopened with factory seals.  I was unaware of this prior to purchase.

Some might ask, "Why not set-up a FreeNAS?"  I have so many projects going already.  I do not have time for another one.

Now, I'm looking to sell on eBay/Amazon.  While I've sold some stuff on eBay, I have not sold on Amazon....

New FreeNAS build for home

Hello everyone,
I have build my test FreeNAS 4 months ago to test functionality and if I will like it. It's was build on old unused components: Intel Celeron CPU 847, 4 GB RAM and 2x750GB disks. I know it doesn't meet minimum requirements, but all data I have on it is on another place and it can be damaged. In this period of testing I found FreeNAS super system and I like it. But reading many post on forum and HW requirement I've read of ECC RAM. First I thought that I can't build FreeNAS...

Splitting a volume so I can remove a disk

I have one volume I've named 'D'
I have two disks in this volume, one 1TB HDD, and one 2TB HDD.

My data takes up 1.6TB. I started with the 1TB HDD as that was what I had at the time, then I bought the 2TB HDD, and added to the system a month later for more storage. Now I'm realizing the error in my ways, and I'd like to move all of my data onto the 2TB HDD, and then make the 1TB HDD a separate Volume, so I can add/replace either disk at will. my data only takes up 1.6TB so I'm assuming it...

At the moment I'm struggling and have questions but I believe after some time I'll also have answers. :)

Rolling environment back, loses certain configuration stuff

Okay so some of you may be familiar with my 9.3->11.1-U4 (and 9.10) stability issues. So I rolled back to 9.3 which has been super stable for me (until I figure out why it's unstable to begin with).

But the problem is, rolling back, I lost a bunch of configs that are... actually important. I don't yet know the full extent of what I've lost, so I'm going to list a few I have seen thus far. I wasn't sure if I should put this in the bug tracker, or how to file it, so I am posting on the forums...

Hey all, good evening!  I'm new to the forum, but am excited to be here.  I have been using FreeNAS for a little over a year, and am just having my first major problem.  Looking forward to hearing if you have any suggestions.  I know this problem has been encountered before, but I haven't seen any posts with definite solutions.  So here goes:

I did an upgrade to FreeNAS from a remote location over SSH... I broke my rule of always doing upgrades on site.  After the reboot, I was unable to...

Hi guys. I have had some issues with a java coin miner. I finally figured it out and its removed from my PC. In the process I follwed some online advice, one of which involved removing any scheduled tasks in windows that didnt sound right. I think that has stopped my samba share from showing up. I never had mapped drives, I had a icon in "This PC" with the name of my server next to it. Clicking that showed all my shares. Anyways, thats no longer there and I'd like any advice on how to get it...

This is a how to install Nextcloud 13 with all checks passed on FreeNAS 11.

New in this guide is how to create and iocage jail and it also works with version 11 & 12 of nextcloud

This is a rewrite of the original post https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/how-to-nextcloud-10-w-apache-php-and-mariadb.46111/ with a few added adjustments where needed to make this fully functional.
I know this works as I have re-emulated this 4 times today to insure its accuracy...

Jail trouble on 11.0-STABLE

I updated my host to the FreeNAS-11-STABLE train (maybe not a good idea?). Now when I create a jail and attempt to build from the portsnap tree, I get complaints like "Ports Collection support for your FreeBSD version has ended, and no ports are guaranteed to build on this system. Please upgrade to a supported release."

When I do a "freebsd-version" inside the jail, it reports "11.0-RELEASE-p1"

When I do it within the host, it reports "11.0-STABLE"

I don't know what to do. Any advice...

Hello,
My Freenas USB disk fails to load the OS, I've tried everything to no avail. I decided to get a new one and do a fresh install.
Now, my problem is that I don't have a back up of my configuration and would really hate to lose everything I have on the HDs from the previous installation.
Is there a way to import that HDs without losing the data?
Thanks!

I was able to get the installer to load, but was greeted by a near instantaneous kernel panic, after I hit "Install Freenas"

Just curious as a lot of people have older MacPros, and they do have ECC Ram. I realize it is a big waste of time, but it seems like a fun project.

The two images are the kernel panic text, and the model of this machine.
