Replizierung gescheitert: cannot unmount '/var/db/system': Device busy

Hallo,

Cooling strategy for fractal design node 804-input wanted

As my build is nearing completion, I started thinking a bit about my cooling strategy. I know that some people have simply use the default fans coming with the case and been happy with that. Due to circumstances, I feel that added feens might be useful for me.

Currently, my plan is to set up the fans like this, But I am curious to hear about what other owners of the case have done, since there are several...

I have  this config: 10x6TB disks with raidz2. This is divided in 5 zvol of 4,6 TB each. I have a free about 8TB space unallocated into the pool. Each zvol is shared with iscsi.
I would like to use the free space to raise the zvol dimensions without loosing data inside them and creating iscsi issues. Anybody already did it and has infos?

iSCSI drops connection

Hello
consider two FreeNAS sharing iSCSI zvols target to some xenservers. In this environment all seems smooth. But apparently when I add another FreeNAS and start using new iSCSI shares to other xenserver machines, i get the following errors in one of still existing FreeNAS servers, causing the connection to drop randomly and making the shares unreachable for minutes:

Code:
WARNING: 1.2.3.4 (iqn.2005-11.ch.mydom.ctl:97665f7s): no ping reply (NOP-Out) after 5 seconds; dropping connection...

Would appreciate some advice on my FreeNAS build

Hi,

Long-time fan of the forum but its finally time for me to build my own freenas too.

But I am a bit stuck with what I should got with, So I would value your opinions.

I am thinking about going the 10gbe route because I feel that its so close to becoming common that it would be a shame to not pay a bit the premium for 10gbe.

Use case will be smb/iscsi and maybe VMs(for testing and  depending how good they run on the nas but not the main reason it will be mostly used a fast storage/...

Large 36 x 12TB Build

Hey,

I have a build for which I need to ensure rebuilds do not impact the array, I assume I would be best of doing mirrored vdevs rather than RAIDZ2 or RAIDZ3 vdevs to reduce the impact of rebuilds?

The purpose of the array is a backup target, it's worth noting my backup software does perform consistency checks on the data, hence my worry about rebuilds impacting read/write speeds!

Also it worth having a NVMe PCIe slog? I need to ensure data is committed to the array without fail, I want...

FreeNAS slow to respond in basic tasks

Hello!

I have a FreeNAS Mini XL functioning as our onsite storage for a small (30 employee) engineering firm.

My FreeNAS has the 10 Gb card installed and connected to a 10 Gb port on our switch.

I have certain tasks that seem to take far too long.

Whenever my users are working in an application and they save what they are working on they get a progress bar that runs to the end and just sits there, sometimes for five seconds. This didn't happen with our previous storage device.

When my...

Smallest Micro-ATX case

Hi, I would prefer Micro-ATX over mini-ITX however the Node 804 will not fit into the wonderful Ikea shelf (34 x 34 cm squares)... Yes... Really.

Is there a mATX case (suitable for 5-6 HDDs) that is <= 33 cm both width and height? Depth is no constraint...

Thanks!

Introduction of feature flags?

Just curious about a historical question, and I'm having trouble tracking down the answer:  When were feature flags (i.e., OpenZFS v5000) introduced in FreeNAS?  The cover of the 9.1.0 user guide indicates OpenZFS v28, but the 9.2.0 user guide doesn't state a version.  Would it be correct to conclude that the change came between those two versions?

Understanding How Encryption Works

Hello,
I figured this was a different kind of question about the encryption so I should create a new post.

I am trying to figure out how the encryption works and how I can prove it works. As I explained in my other post I am looking to put PHI data on my FreeNAS 11.1 U4 system and it will be audited by external auditors.

I am looking to find out how key management is handled and how can i prove that. I am specifically looking for the following

-Where is the data encrypting key stored?

...and I have some questions.

Some background - I'm building a FreeNAS box for only storage (no transcoding, etc, ect), and so far have gotten an X11SSM-F, G4560 and 16 GB of ECC RAM.  I'm targeting 6x 4TB in RAIDZ2 for now, though am considering 8x, and would like to leave options open for future expansion.  Next item on my list is to pick up a HBA.

1) Does it matter if I pick up a LSI 9211 or 9207 based one?  I came across...

Bridged Network Adapter IP Not Available In iSCSI Portal

Good afternoon everyone,
I will start with a big thanks to all in this forum as reading it has been greatly helpful as I am quite new to FreeNAS.

To start I would like to describe my setup slightly... I have a FreeNAS system directly connected to 3 cluster nodes and 1 backup server. The direct connection is made on 2 dual port 40GbE ChelsIO NICs (T580-SO-CR). With the connections I wanted to allow the cluster nodes to communicate with eachother over this high speed connection, therefore I...

I am a classic home tinkerer getting his feet wet in this world.

I have had FreeNAS 9 and 10 running on a machine for a couple years now, and have always been able to access my server via the GUI using the root and password.

Today I upgraded to the latest stable version of 11, and can no longer access the system via the GUI using root and the same password.  After I enter the user name root and my password, after a few seconds I get a read bar over the sign-in screen that says "Server...

Unterschiedliche Samba Shares nicht erreichbar

Hallo allesamt!
