можно ли восстановить данные после zfs destroy -r

Здравствуйте,
случилось то, что случается у всех, кто не делает резервные копии: я удалил датасет (из GUI)

zpool history:
2018-11-17.15:36:01 zfs destroy -r WD2TB_Mirror/dataset_Office

естественно все снапшоты внутри датасета тоже удалились, после этого никаких изменений не производилось.

-как можно восстановить удаленные данные? и не потерять имеющиеся датасеты!

пул WD2TB_Mirror это RAID1 - два диска WD 2TiB серия YELLOW, есть еще два "таких же"  серии GOLD

можно ли (и нужно ли)...

I have a freenas-boot / stripe / da6p2 boot device (usb stick) working correctly.
I have inserted a new USB device "da5" correctly detected (note: I tried all USB ports of my computer).

Hello, FreeNAS community!

I have decided to build a NAS server for home use and would like to ask for some advice.

I. Regarding Mobo + CPU I have a budget option and a more powerful and future-proof option:
1. Supermicro X10SLL-F with Pentium G3260 (only 1150 socket CPU available locally) for a total of ~255 eur
2. Supermicro X11SSL-F (or upgrade to SSM-F for ~23eur) with Kaby lake Core i3-7350K for a total of ~390 eur

II. Since 1151 socket CPUs are more available, I have more options so...

Please advice me on new build

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS high value for iowait

Hi guys

Having a little bit of an issue with my Ubuntu server VM, its showing about 50% of my CPU usage as iowait which is really odd as my disk usage stats are basiclly 0 most of the time. I've used iotop and netdata to verify this. I am connected via SMB to the freenas server from within the VM and i have docker running on it, all the docker configs are contained in the SMB share so I don't know if thats causing it. Any ideas what this is and how to fix it.

LSI SAS 9210-8i SAS controller and Supermicro X9SCM-F-O

Hello Experts,

I am hoping someone might be able to help me out here.

I have a  Supermicro X9SCM-F-O motherboard. which I plan to install FreeNAS on, however I cannot seem to be able to get it to detect my LSI SAS 9210-8i SAS controller card.

I have tried all the PCI Express ports on the motherboard, but nothing see's it.

I know the LSI SAS 9210-8i SAS is good due to plugging it into an ASRock Motherboard the card is detected.

Any thoughts on why the Supermicro X9SCM-F-O motherboard is...

Missing space in zpool

Hi,
I have FreeNAS setup since a long time with the bellow setting. I have noticed recently that my free space is almost gone, but I do not see where the free space is being utilized. From 13TB I am using in my files less than 2TB, how come it shows 656GB free? I tried to check from SSH but nothing is obvious to me there. Any help will be appreciated.

Dataset empty after Volume Import

Hi,

So recently my boot device got corrupted during an upgrade (no idea why). Well I thought doesn't matter that much since the data should be untouched. So I quickly reinstalled FreeNAS and imported my Volume through the WebGUI Wizard. Pool showed up instantly and was imported without a hitch. Unfortunately the only thing I saw was a 100G vm_disk in my dataset. ~3TB of files were missing. Any Ideas what could have happened? I'm absolutely clueless. Maybe i can try to restore the config or...

I'm running 11.1-U5 and configured a working rtorrent jail using the following guide: https://danthesalmon.com/create-seedbox-jail-freenas/

Unfortunately, I'm running into an error where upon checking data of existing downloaded files, the rtorrent process is seemingly limited to a single core. The small CPU monitor in the bottom left of the ruTorrent GUI plateaus at 100% and the FreeNAS cpu reporting shows a steady 15~ish %. I'm running a hyperthreaded quad-core Xeon, so 15% is...

I think one of my 4 WD Red 2Tb disks are gone.... i have a ZFS1 raid, and i have an alert from freenas and i make a long smart check and this is the output:

Replacing drive in mirror with smaller one

I have a boot zfspool with 3 mirrored devices. 2 16GB usb drives and one old 128GB SSD.

Unfortunately the SSD just died so I wanted to replace it with another 16GB USB drive (the exact same type of the other already mirrored 2)
But when I try to replace it (in the WebGUI) I get an error that the drive is too small.
Do I need a drive wich is 128GB big? Even if the others are only 16GB?

If so, can I remove the (already removed) SSD from the pool for good and add another 16GB usb mirror?...

Showing FreeNAS in network

This used to work but now does not. When I would click on network (windows 10) my FreeNAS box would show up and I could go through my shares but after the last few updates (now on RC2) it does not appear. Which setting on either machine must be changed for this to work. Yes I can type the address in which is fine for me but not for other members of the house.

OpenVPN fails in jail with libdl.so.1 not found error

Newly created FreeNAS 11.1-U6 standard jail. Updated and upgraded everything. Installed OPENVPN from pkg. openvpn fails to execute with error:

Shared object "libdl.so.1" not found, required by "openvpn". All install guides just assume that this will not occur. Cannot determine how to install this object. I have see that this error also affects Python, BASH ans possible others. Can anyone tell me how to get past this deficiency?

Setup:
I've been running this particular FreeNAS 9.10 for a few years now as a production iSCSI for my ESXi cluster.  It currently runs on a Dell PowerEdge R310 with two Compellent storage arrays, filled with a total of 48 x 146 GB 15k RPM SAS drives in RAID 10 configuration.

I setup a SLOG and L2ARC and filled up the RAM to the max the R310 can hold of ECC RAM, 48 GB.

I've been keeping it updated and now it is at 9.10.2-U6 and will stay there now until I buy new hardware to...

I think my FreeNAS 9.10.2-U6 is no longer using my L2ARC

Hello, new Freenas user here..
I had my system up and running with zpool created with 3 disks.
I had a bunch of files on these 3 disks.

I took the drives out in the hopes of transferring data from them to another windows computer.
Of course, those drives were not recognized by Windows and I moved them back into the Freenas computer (using an HP Microserver with 4 bays), but didn't remember each drive's exact bay before I removed them and I am guessing that's the problem now.
I can see all 3...

Hallo,

Ich wollte eben schauen ob ich nicht hin bekomme, das mein NAS auch ohne direkte Eingabe von der IP Adresse und nervigen Passwörtern bestimmte Folder einfach im Netzwerk angezeigt werden. (Netzwerkumgebung am PC, Kodi, PS4 usw). Dann bemerkte ich einen Kritischen error:

Hello,
We have FreeNAS-11.1-U5 with VMWare vCenter 6.5 / ESXi 6.5.0. Currently we are using NFS 3 but we would like to move to NFS 4.1.
NFSv4 is enabled (Services -> NFS) but when creating new datastore in vSphere it is attached in read-only mode. While looking at vmkernel log:

Looking raidz1 various sized drives

Hello fellas :)

I've the intention to setup a scrap SSD pool to mitigate the 'smallest drive per vdev determining size' consequence. The drives are:
Raidz1: 500+500+(250+250)GB

Im aware this is outside the normal recommendations and ..the following implications.
Nevertheless, I'm looking for links, pointers, key-words for searching, overall work-flow descriptions  ..or whatever else you can come up with for how to make this happen.

Is openVPN a standalone VPN or a tool for freeNAS to connect to VPN?

I assume there's no free lunch with VPNs,
that one must pay a VPN provider for use.

I wanted to enable remote SSH and Plex use and
it's been recommended that I setup a VPN.

This is not something that freeNAS handles on its own, correct?

About 18 months ago I built a server and installed freenas. Thats as fare as I got before realizing I was in over my head. The system has been sitting un-used sense. There is absolutely nothing stored on it.
The plan was to use it for my personal media storage and with plex.

I’m looking for someone in the Phoenix area to get everything set up and running. Is there a recourse for finding professionals experienced with freenas by location?

Any help would be greatly appreciate.
