HP Proliant DL380 Gen 10 installing problem

Hi, I'm new to the community and with freenas, I'm trying to install it on a new HP Proliant DL380 Gen10 server, but the installer does not recognize the server's hard drives. I have 8, 1Gb disk and I have tried all disk array combinations and nothing. I have tried Ubuntu, Debian and Windows and in all of them I recognize the disk, so the disk array does not have problems, but with freenas it does not recognize the disk. After some newbie pain installing FreeNAS on a Dell server with PERC H730 controller https://forums.freenas.org/index.ph...-freenas-9-10-1-running-on-dell-r730xd.46594/ please find herewith some tips.

The PERC H730 is in the HCL for FreeBSD https://www.freebsd.org/relnotes/9-STABLE/hardware/support.html#disk so should work.

Item no 1 on your installation check list should be to enter the BIOS and ensure the controller is set to HBA...

Lots of Netdata alerts

I recently updated to 11.2 U5. At the same time I turned Netdata on for the first time. So I'm not sure if my problems are due to the update, or if they've been happening for a while and I just haven't had netdata service turned on.

When doing a heavy file transfer I get these errors. But even sometimes when the system is apparently idle I get them. These are the common alerts:
"out of disk space time"
"out of disk inodes time"
"10min netisr backlog exceeded"
And something about a packet...

Lots of Netdata alerts

SATA DOM for Gigabyte MD70-HB0

Hey guys,

I have the following MOBO: Gigabyte MD70-HB0

The manual says it supports SATA_DOM x2, so I wanted to do my FreeNAS install to these 2 SATA Doms.
But I cannot find any that work.
I tried the SuperMicro SuperDOMS: Supermicro SuperDOM SSD-DM032-PHI 32GB
And INNODISK SATADOM-ML 3SE 64GB SLC SATA - DESML-64GD06SCAQB-B191B

I couldn't get either of these to work.
Yes I did change the jumpers to supposedly work...

Hi folks,

So I'm in the process of doing a major storage upgrade on my FreeNAS 9.10.2-U4 box (see sig link for full specs), slowly transitioning from 8x4TB to 8x10TB (RAIDZ2). I've swapped out 2 disks so far, da0 and da1, with no issues and successful resilvers. I was planning to swap out a 3rd disk this evening but when I pulled up my IPMI console getting ready to shut down I spotted this error on da0, which is one of the new 10TB drives (Seagate Ironwolf ST10000VN0004). Hello all! I am currently upgrading my drives (yay) and I was trying to write a simple while loop to just output the status of the resilvering. What I have is:

while true; do zpool status | grep 'resilvered,'; sleep 30; done
101G resilvered, 8.45% done, 0 days 04:17:52 to go
103G resilvered, 8.64% done, 0 days 04:17:05 to go
105G resilvered, 8.83% done, 0 days 04:16:17 to go
108G resilvered, 9.04% done, 0 days 04:14:45 to go
110G resilvered, 9.23% done, 0 days 04:13:48...

Hey guys,

so I recently got the aboved mentioned 10GBE Card. At that point I didn't knew that there is now driver for this card/s.

So I got in contact with the support and they told me to they are working on it.
A few weeks later and I got the driver now:

So my question? Can I compile the driver on the CLI and test it/installed the driver or should I test that on a fresh FreeBSD system?

Growing vdev via disk replacement issues?

Are there any issues with expanding vdevs via disk replacement where those issues are based on the original size of the disks in the vdev? In other words, let's say I have an 1TB X 8 disk RAIDZ2, and I updated those disks to 4TB, then to 8TB, and then one day to 20TB over time. Does the starting size of the vdev and how it's initially laid out cause any problems once expanded 10 - 20X it's original size?

Unable to boot from Installer USB

I am currently having issues booting from an Installer USB created in Linux using the "dd" command as was written in the documentation. The copy operation of the .iso file appears to have been successful, as my Linux machine outputs the following:

Moving zvol to another dataset in the same volume

I have a couple of iSCSI extents. They are currently located in different datasets. I would like to move them to a newly created dataset in the same volume without disturbing the data in those extents. Is this possible, if so then how?

11.1-U5 Laundry Memory over 10G

I thought I had the issue with swap growth licked after making some adjustments but now the main processes seem to be eating tons of memory for no reason (it seems to be happening when the system is idle).

Check this:

Why is the GUI webserver eating so much swap?

And 10Gigs of Laundry? Is this normal? I'm not doing anything that weird on this machine... running plex and resilio sync to backup my stuff.

Simple open access smb share

Hey I want to set up just a super simple smb share where no one has to provide any credentials and everyone on the network has full permission, from apps such as nzb clients moving files around to different computers accessing the smb.

I find the hole users and permissions overly complicated. Had it all setup and seemingly working for months and randomly after a restart it has stopped and I can't access some files. I don't want to spend another day playing around with permissions. I just...

Hi,

While I'm actually not a FreeNAS user, reading around the forum, I thought maybe this community would have some suggestions. Or should I ask at, say, unraid forums? I'm a bit overwhelmed and would be very appreciative of your suggestions.

Probably I have some basic confusions: I <think> I want neither JBOD nor RAID nor IT mode, but just additional ports directly connected to WIN10 (hopefully I'll also use same pc/hardware on a non-Windows OS in the years to come). Having searched here...

Folders not showing under Volumes in GUI

I've done some searching over the past couple of weeks, and Im not really finding something close to my issue (might be using the wrong keywords). Recently my USB drives started showing issues through console, so I pulled down the newest version of Freenas, rebuilt the system, and imported my storage.

When I go to the Volumes section of the GUI, Im not seeing all the subfolders on the mount point :

But, they are still there, and they do show under /mnt/Main...
