question: config untrusted at boot

Hi all,
I noticed this message during boot time spa_load($import, config untrusted). It happens when zfs try to import two mirrored SSD pools:

11.2-U5 Plex Plugin Broken?

Just updated to 11.2-U5 and attempted to install the plexmediaserver plugin:

Trying to move dataset from one pool to another

I'm trying to move a dataset from Pool1 to Pool2. I made a recursive snapshot of the dataset in Pool1. Then I used the following command to send it to Pool2:

zfs send -Rv Pool1/"Calibre Library"@migrate | zfs recv -Fdus Pool2

I get a dataset Calibre Library in Pool2, but whenever I try to access it (such as with the ls command), it is empty. There is no data in it. What am I doing wrong?

Looking for help/advice. For the last week EVERY night just after 0300 EST my server has produced Warnings, blocked tasks, LOCKED files, etc. This started while running 11.2-U4 and continued after upgrading to 11.2-U5. No system changes were made prior to this daily event taking place. My jails continue to function (PLEX, syncthing) but the core system is extremely sluggish (SMB, SSH, FreeNAS webgui, etc). I have only been able to recover by rebooting. No issues seen on reboot. Everything...

FreeNAS on virtualization hypervisor which is using ZFS

Hi,
I need to install a new FreeNAS system and I have to virtualise it.
I'm using Proxmox as hypervisor and I have both some network storages (which are using qcow2 images) and some local storages which are using ZFS (and virtual machines are using some ZFS drives.

I read the information at https://www.ixsystems.com/blog/yes-you-can-virtualize-freenas/, but now the question is: could I use ZFS on ZFS, or could I pass FreeNAS a ZFS dataset directly from the hypervisor?

Disconnect pool with hidden system files

I want to clear a pool of disks and re-use them. The pool is pool 1 in the build, and 'zfs list' shows a hidden directory named system, with configs and syslog in it. Do I need to move that directory somewhere else before detaching the pool?

Уважаемые коллеги, день добрый.
Имеется машина c FreeNAS-11.2-U3 , обслуживает хост с ESXi по iscsi и smb для бэкап.
Раньше дело с FreeNAS не имел. Но как показывает практика лучше иметь обновления нежели не иметь . Вот и сейчас Фринас просит обновится до U5.
Т.к. хранилище на фринас боевое , то есть опасения простоя или сбоя после обнолений , данные вряд ли потеряются но из за того что опыта с этой системой не исмл опасения на этот счет тоже есть.
Просьба к сообществу , написать так...

Degraded Pool

Hey guys, I got an email last night about a degraded pool, but I am not 100% sure what is actually wrong here.

When I run zpool status I get this. Should I assume all has been fixed clear the issue (I think that is zpool clear?). I did have a drive not show up initially when I rebooted after some hardware changes, but I am not sure if that caused this issue.

Salve a tutti. Hardware consigliato per Freenas è un HD di avvio minimo da 8GB. Quali sono le vostre configurazioni? Un SSD dove tenere Freenas e poi gli HD in Raid?
Fino ad oggi ho avuto Nas Netgear e Synology e per entrambi l'OS si installava sugli stessi HD in Raid.

Hey guys,

i got a big problem while installing FreeNas 11.2-U5.
My Hardware is a 3.5" computer called "IBase IB908AF-4300". It`s equipped with an i5-4300U and 8GB Ram. A 32GB SSD is provided for the FreeNAS installation (Transcend TS32GMSA370).

Before explaining the problem, trying to install from a USB stick (different types) or from a CD-Drive makes no difference.
After boot from the medium with the installation files, it shows me the installation menu with the different options (Start...

All volumes are gone after manually trying to ad one additiona disk

Yeah i messed up. Since i'm not a frequent user you tend to forget how to manage the system.

I have 4*4tb disk in raid mode. After trying to ad one more 4tb disk manually. I think i selected the new disk and chosed to ad it to my current volume "NAS". No no volumes are showing and i'm hoping that all my data is recoverable somehow.

Can anyone please advice me?

Replacing failed boot drive (mirrored)

I have two Ultra Fit drives mirrored for my boot drive, one has "persistent errors" and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately I'm not on site and will need to walk someone else through the physical part of this. The Ultra Fit's have led indicators which should help identify the drive I remove from the mirror... can anyone here that uses these drives tell me the normal led status when the drive is active?

Also, in this image, is the chart displaying write errors?

can't get permission right on mac OSX over samba share GRRR

I have created pools, I share over samba, connect to the share via Finder cd through /Volumes.

For every file I create I get permissions of "rwx"

eg.

echo "2" > t2.txt

ls -l
total 2048
-rwx------ 1 paul staff 2 Jul 23 12:50 t2.txt


Can anyone help?

AD Auth- SID history

I currently have my NAS joined to one domain (say, AD1). I am in the process of moving users to a new domain (AD2) and will be migrating their historical SID to their new AD account. (SID History). My NAS will stay in the old domain but I would like users to authenticate using the new domain credentials by way of SID History

Does free NAS Support the use of SID History? I am using SID History to authenticate against Windows shares without issues, but FreeNAS does not seem to be honoring this.

Hi everyone, I have had a search of the forum and couldnt really come up with a confident yes or no answer to my issue.

My current Freenas set up is an intel based running the following config

FreeNAS-11.1-U7
Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G4560 @ 3.50GHz
16 GB Ram
3 tb capacity with 3 tb back up drive attached.

I currently use an AMD Ryzen 1700 for my daily driver which I am planning to upgrade to the new Ryzen 9 platform so this will leave me with the 1700 and an x370 motherboard spare.

Lately I've seen a lot posts about ASRock Avoton boards failing < 2 years. Just wondering how long yours has lasted and whether anyone has a board that went past the 2 year mark?

Considering FreeNAS minis run off these boards, I question the longevity of it and whether I should start looking for a new miniITX solution?

Hello all,

The Error:
"Unable to GPT format the disk" when attempting to create a Volume

I'm not entirely new to FreeNAS, but encountered this problem recently when trying to setup a new volume with a few older drives from me desktop. The drives in question used to be part of a RAID10 on said desktop. I'm unsure how to correct this error, and everywhere I search seems to tell me to do more and more convoluted solutions. I'm hoping there is a relatively simple console command I can apply to...

I'm been planning on building a FreeNAS box for almost 10 years. I bought a Norco RPC-3216 3U rackmount server case to start the project back in November 2009. It's been sitting collecting dust (a lot!) as well as a triple redundant power supply I shoved in it way back then. It's got an old Asus mobo (P5K?) in it and some drives that I haven't pulled out yet. I probably fired it up and played with it at one time (It's been 10 years!) but...

Hello there.

I Just set up a new FreeNas server to replace an old and failing QNap NAS.

I prefer to have 2 network cards in my NAS devices and the motherboard I have only came with 1.

So the setup went fine, everything is working, however, it didn't recognize my network card. After doing some reading and googling, I ordered an Intel network card from Amazon: Intel Gigabit CT PCI-E Network Adapter EXPI9301CTBLK

Now, everything I've read said I should be able to plug it in and it should...
