Hi all,

first of all, english is not my first language, so please bare with me.

Im running Freenas 11.1-U7 with PlexPassMediaServer in a iocage.

Im facing an issue regarding updating Plexmediaserver from version 15.5.994 to 1.16.2.1321.
Im doing a PKG upgrade and the upgrade is running fine.
After the upgrade is complete, im unable to access the web gui at 192.168.1.X:32400/web, I get a connection refused in the browser.
I´ve tried several browsers and computers, the issue persist.

I've been considering attempting a FreeNAS build for a while now. However, despite reading through some of the documentation, I feel ignorance. At minimum, I feel ignorance towards the hardware. I have already acquired HDDs (WD Red 3 TB drives) and am now attempting to figure out a suitable build to house them.

Going onto the Supermicro website, I filtered on 4U, Titanium, and 24 drive bays. Among those I used what rudimentary knowledge I had to narrow it down to...

.recycle lifecycle

Hi!

I've noticed a /mnt/red/redsamba/.recycle with a `16G hendry/` directory.

How does this get emptied or how does one control it's lifecycle? Ideally I would want the data here to expire in 30 days.

Salve a tutti, vorrei sapere (io non ci sono riuscito) se è possibile configurare un task che effettui lo snapshot ma che poi debba essere avviato da remoto!
Spiego il mio scenario:
Effettuo una SINCRONIZZAZIONE a specchio dei dati su 2 hd in raid (ovvero dal server eseguo una sincronizzazione tramite ftp sul freenas e in questo modo rendo nuovamente disponibile il server in tempi brevi)
Poi vorrei effettuare un backup differenziale o incrementale di questi dati sincronizzati!

Tengo un servidor Freenas con 4 disco Duros de 4TB, 8gb memoria, lo uso como unidad de Backup .
Hace 2 mese instale el Pluggin de OWNCLOD y quedo configurado a la perfeccion funcionando eficientemente con sus usuarios demas, mi problema es que ahora el
pluggin no me funciona los clientes salen desconectado, cuando trato de entrar al Manager del OWNCLOUD mediante la direccion IP Asignada. me sale lo siguiente...

sas controller raid or hba and proxmox or freenas?

Hi,
I am a bit stuck here trying to decide, I'm just stuck between 2 stones.

i have a hp proliant dl380 g7 server i will use but since it has so much power i will run everything on it. But here it starts :-(
should i run it on raid or to hba mode?
since i need vm, should I run proxmox with raid, or hba to create a zfs pool. And run freenas in a vm.
Or is it better to run freenas with hba and create vm in freenas, freenas and raid is not the best solution?
or should i build another type of...

Redundant SLOG device?

Hi,

I've got a question about SLOG. I'm not sure if it has to be redundant. What I've read so far says, that it does not need to be redundant because if device fails, the ZIL just goes to the pool where it would be without SLOG anyways.
OK, but I never had a completely failing SSD so far. If I had a failing SSD it just resulted in corrupted file systems (ext4 or XFS) because apparantly corrupted data got written to the disk. If this happens to my SLOG, what is the result? Is data on SLOG...

(Wasn't sure if this should be in the Development section, I'm on the Nightlies so this option may not apply in the released version)

I've noticed that during plugin creation that the NAT option is selected by default. This is all fine and dandy, as everything *seems* to be working (with respect to the actual jail still having access to the Internet), and it gets an IP address 172.16.0.X.

My problem/question is this: Normally things under NAT (if they're expected to be accessible outside...

Hi Everyone,

I would really appreciate some help on this. I got to the point where I couldn't deal with the poor performance of Bhyve VMs on FreeNAS (it really is broken) and recently have moved back to VMware for VMs.

My architecture is:
  • ESXi 6.7 on bare metal with a small local SSD hosting the FreeNAS 11.2-U2.1 VM.
  • FreeNAS has all the other drives passed through and has a volume serving back a datastore to ESXi for other VMs via NFS v4.1.

Problem with permission

Hello, I have a problem with disk permissions. I have created users and groups. Each dataset has a designated group with permissions. However, something has started to go wrong for some time. The user x in the group with read / write rights to the given folder opens the document for read only. Nothing has changed in what can be a problem?

Hi everyone,

I want to play with freenass and I want a good first impression by doing it right.

I have built servers in the past, but I always have doubt when purchasing. I don’t want to be disappointed and I want it to work. I have read lots of forum post, but I will need to experimented and read back some post, before understanding every aspect of freenas, still confuse about the vlog and cie.

- My last server built was in ±2013. Still working strong and serving me daily, by hosting VMs...

Hi,

I'm considering to move my FreeNAS to a bit more modern setup. It's a home file server, no need for fancy video transcoding or things of this sort.
I've read a lot on this forum and elsewhere on the caveats of installing FreeNAS as a VM. I believe the main advice was to use a HBA in order to get the disks assigned exclusively to the OS/VM.

But I've seen very little on successful cases of internal SATA controller passthrough. My plan is to either get a SuperMicro E300-8D or its...

FreeNAS 11.2 and Guest Account

I have been building a FreeNAS box, and am slowly getting it running.

One thing that has been different between my experience and all the tutorials and videos is the Guest account.

In all cases, nobody has to ever enter a password for this account.

I can not edit or create the account without entering a password. It is always a required field.

Why is this? How do you file the Guest account without entering a password?

Qbittorrent won't delete folder with files inside from GUI - log error attached

Hello

Guys I need small hint.
I am using qbittorent-nox and yesterday I wanted to remove some movies from download folder.
After clicking in GUI delete button qbittorrent removed torrent from list but ina qbittorrent log is this:

(C) 2019-07-24T15:25:53 - 'Glass' was removed from the transfer list but the files couldn't be deleted. Error: Directory not empty
