I upgraded to 11.2-U5 this morning from 11.1-U7 and everything went fine with the upgrade itself. Once I had verified everything was good, I went to save a copy of the current configuration file and ran into a problem.

When I tried to save the configuration file using the new web interface, I went to System --> General, the usual Export Password Secret Seed popup came up and clicked on Save. After doing this, I got a small popup at the bottom of the browser window saying "Download...

I have a problem involving Plex & Freenas and unsure what is the cause. I installed Plex a few days ago on my Freenas and the installation went fine creating a jail, adding media etc. I then logged into Plex via the web browser and set up the libraries for Music, Movies & TV series and it started scanning.

The movies scanned fine, next the TV series scanned fine BUT as soon as it comes to the music, this is where it fails. It will start scanning and maybe add around 10/20 artists and then...

Hi,

I'm sorry if, I'm in the wrong category.

I've just set up many fib (3). I'm going to explain my configuration.
1 pfsense (3vlans, 101, 102, 103) > Freenas (lacp, vlan 101, 102, 103)

I set up :
vlan101(mgmt) fib0 : 10.1.0.0/24, bound GUI, ssh, defaut gateway 10.1.0.254
vlan102(user) fib1 : 10.2.0.0/24, bound SMB, defaut gateway 10.2.0.254
vlan103(DMZ) fib2 : 10.3.0.0/24, bound jails, defaut gateway 10.3.0.254

My issue, is when I used smb. If, I am in other network 10.1 or 10.3...

I have inherited a production server that is behaving badly. I intend to make a post about it in the applicable section of the forum, but first I want to identify the hardware so I can make a proper post. Given that I can't take the machine offline to inspect its insides, what's the best way to find and format the relevant info? A full dmidecode dump? Careful description of the server chassis and visible attached devices? Something else?

Hi iX Community,

Excited to be here as I've just completed my first FreeNAS build.

The issue: When transferring files from my old external hard drives to the new build, experiencing crawling file transfer speeds. The current external hard drive is USB 3.1. Files in this folder are primarily photos and videos.

Hello!

Im a little bit out of the grooves when it comes to FreeNAS, as I resurrected the box from more or less a year of hibernation, only to be greeted by a degraded volume.

I do remember that a drive acted up several times (particularly when moving or cleaning around the chassis). Presumable a bad SATA connection as smart would rack up errors in "199 UDMA_CRC_ERROR_COUNT". I've not worried, as the degraded volume would normally be fixed by wiggling the sata connector into place and...

Hi!

I use restic for quite some time to backup some linux boxs to a sftp share. Now I tried to backup my FreeNAS (FreeBSD based NAS) to a B2 bucket. To do this, I create a iocage jail and install restic via `pkg install restic`.

After setting the required B2 env variables i try to ` restic -r b2:$BUCKET_ID init`, but the command just hangs. For a long time. No error or any response. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Bucket stays empty. :frowning_face:

Salve a tutti, vorrei sapere (io non ci sono riuscito) se è possibile configurare un task che effettui lo snapshot ma che poi debba essere avviato da remoto!
Spiego il mio scenario:
Effettuo una SINCRONIZZAZIONE a specchio dei dati su 2 hd in raid (ovvero dal server eseguo una sincronizzazione tramite ftp sul freenas e in questo modo rendo nuovamente disponibile il server in tempi brevi)
Poi vorrei effettuare un backup differenziale o incrementale di questi dati sincronizzati!

Hi Everyone,

I would really appreciate some help on this. I got to the point where I couldn't deal with the poor performance of Bhyve VMs on FreeNAS (it really is broken) and recently have moved back to VMware for VMs.

My architecture is:

• ESXi 6.7 on bare metal with a small local SSD hosting the FreeNAS 11.2-U2.1 VM.
• FreeNAS has all the other drives passed through and has a volume serving back a datastore to ESXi for other VMs via NFS v4.1.

I recently upgraded my FreeNAS system with a SSD boot drive rather than USB stick. Initially, I was able to access the web interface, but now I can't, and I haven't been able to figure out why.

The Freenas system shows in my router at the intended IP. FreeNAS states that the web interface is at the intended IP, and ifconfig confirms that the NIC is working.

I'm just planning to update to 11.2 (from 9.10). I'm currently booting in BIOS mode but I'm considering making the switch to UEFI when I update the firmware to the LSI 2308. The thing is though, I'm pretty sure I had good reason to use BIOS rather than UEFI but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Has anyone had or is anyone aware of issues when booting the X10SL7-f in UEFI mode?... I have done some basic searching to answer my own question but nothing has come up thus far.

I'm resilvering a drive in a RAIDZ2 pool. The percent complete was 7% awhile ago and now it's back to 1%.

Is there something that would cause resilvering to reset? I can't imagine a disk write would do anything like that.

I have a jail running with a VNET interface on igb2. I changed some of the settings because I was not able to access it from a different subnet over IPSEC. I changed it to just use a spare NIC igb2 and then my OpenVPN stopped working properly. I then changed the configuration back to running a VNET interface on igb2 and it started flooding my network and locking everything up. I was able to login to the router an edgemax ER-X and disable the interface it was connected to and shut down...

I'm brand new here and brand new to FreeNas.

I've had to replace my old NAS and decided to turn another system into a replacement NAS.

I'm not a *nix guy, but I am am a Cisco guy and I've been in IT for a very, very long time and can generally accomplish what I want.

Hello there.

I Just set up a new FreeNas server to replace an old and failing QNap NAS.

I prefer to have 2 network cards in my NAS devices and the motherboard I have only came with 1.

So far I wasn't able to find anywhere on the internet a decent noise comparison between 12TB (or larger) HDDs. I already know that helium filled HDDs are quite silent @ idle (and that is also the only specification that that most brands officially list), but I'd like to know which HDDs are the most silent @ load or which have the least annoying sounds with random access.

I've been running this pool for years with no problems, replaced several drives with no problems.
upgraded the pool recently (within 6 months) and upgraded to latest stable freenas... no problems - gui very pretty, i love it.

so anyway i went to replace a failing disk, and i noticed it changed behavior and shows "replacing" now, which its never done before but hey - looks good!

but then something went wrong, the disk i was replacing to failed. so i replaced that and resilvered. now its...
