run_interrupt_driven_hooks / problem with mrsas driver

Hi,

I'm trying to install FreeNAS 11.1 on a ESXi 6.5 VM.

I want to PCI passthrough my RAID controller which is a Dell PERC H330 but i'm getting problem with that.

When i try to boot, i get stuck on :
run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 60 seconds for xpt_config

Disabling hw.pci.enable_msi="0" and hw.pci.enable_msix="0" as suggested in another post works, but then my RAID controller is not working because mrsas won't get loaded...

Is there anything i can do to fix this please...

zpool CKSUM errors while resilvering after replacing a drive

Hi! This is my first post to the forum, so I apologise in advance if I miss out on any of the rules. However, I will try me best ;-)

We have a FreeNAS mini box (2016) that worked quite fine until a few days. One of the drives started to show errors in SMART and we decided to replace the drive with a new one. I followed the instructions from the official documentation (https://www.ixsystems.com/documentation/freenas/11.2/storage.html#replacing-a-failed-disk) to replace the failing...

Server CPU and RAM for 48x10TB HGST Data60

Hi Everybody,

I'm in the process of building a new backup server of 48 x 10TB drives. I've been using windows high availability RAIDs until now. It's my maiden ZFS system, so be kind :)

There is about a TB of data changed every day that is written overnight, for which I would like to keep 14 days of snapshots. Weekly backup to tape. So nothing really demanding going on here... I don't think I need ZIL or L2ARC or definitely no deduplication, just plain ol' straight forward backup.

Can...

Bad sectors during initial zfs send / recv -- replace drive now?

I am setting up a new RaidZ2 pool consisting of seven brand-new ST8000DM004 drives. All (plus a spare) passed initial S.M.A.R.T. (short, long, and conveyance) and badblocks testing, but now, while populating the new pool by means of zfs send / recv from an over-full smaller pool, I'm getting a report of 8 unreadable / uncorrectable sectors on one of the new drives.

Quite apart from the issue of whether I return the drive (and buy a new one at a now-increased price, if they will not simply...

Volume status showing 8 HDDs in two raidz2? I am confused.

I'm a newbie. I have a very simple and dumb question. I have tried to search but still can't find anyone dumb enough to post similar question....

I have set up my first Freenas Nas. I have 8 x 8TB drives and wanted to set up them in one Volume in Raidz2. However, I am feeling that I may have done something wrong and set up them as two 4 x 4TB in Raidz2, because I see raidz2-1 and raidz2-0 on the Volume Status. Could any experienced user verify for me please? Thank you for much...

I have freshly built freenass server with 12x10TB array WB Gold drives, running on EPYC CPU, 128GB ram. With 40Gbs networking link for storage access.

Raid configuration is raidz-3. Read performance is where it is expected to be and writes are where they are expected - pretty low around 280Mbps

I want to boost write performance, as much as possible, and typical solution is to add non volatile fast caching drive to hold the data until it is written to disk

How to find out if a drive is spinning down properly.

For installs that use the AHCI driver to control the hard drives, it is not obvious how you can find out if a drive has actually spun down according to the configuration that you have set.

This post shows you how you can use the camcontrol command to find out the power state of a drive.

First you need to identify the drive you want to take a look at:
Code:
nanotube# camcontrol devlist
<ST1500DL003-9V16L CC32> at scbus0 target 0 lun 0 (pass0,ada0)

I updated the Plex pkg and noticed this note:
Code:
@@@ INTEL GPU OFFLOAD NOTES @@@

If you have a supported Intel GPU, you can leverage hardware
accellerated encoding/decoding in Plex Media Server on FreeBSD 12.0+.

The requirements are as follows:

* Install multimedia/drm-kmod: e.g., pkg install drm-fbsd12.0-kmod

* Enable loading of kernel module on boot: sysrc kld_list+="drm"
** If Plex will run in a jail, you must load the module outside the jail!

* Load the kernel module now: kldload...

Nextcloud Plugin - Certbot renewal webroot challenge fails

Hi all,

I'm kind of stuck getting the certificate from letsencrypt to renew on my nextcloud (official plugin) install.

I'm using the certbot webroot method to do so. The command I'm using (to test) :

Code:
certbot certonly -d mydomain

After which I choose the webroot option and input the webroot of my nextcloud install : /usr/local/www/nextcloud

The error I get from certbot is the following :

Code:
Domain: cloud.mydomain.com
Type: connection
Detail: Fetching...

  • Motherboard: SuperMicro X9DBL
  • CPU: Intel Xeon E5 2470v2
  • RAM: 6x 16 GB Samsung DDR3 ECC 1666
  • Boot: 2x USB mirror 64Gb
  • Hard drives: 5x Seagate IronWolf 4TB RAIDZ2

So my problem with dropping read/write, network is 1Gbit, so sometimes it runs 100Mb/s and then could drops to 0, as you can see on screenshot, this is full range from 0 to 100Mb/s speed. Same thing happen via FTP, i already check.
So my question is: could ZFS or Freenas write some logs on system drive...

Hi Folks - Slowly working through my Freenas implementation :)

I would like to use a free network interface on my server that is dedicated to NFS. My primary interface (for the management GUI) is on igb0 which is 192.168.20.170 on the 192.168.20.0/24 network. My ESXi server is also on the 192.168.20.0/24 network. I would like to dedicate one of the ESXi interfaces (e.g. virtual switch, etc.) to connect to the FreeNAS NFS share. I would like to keep using the 192.168.20.0/24 network but it...

Is there a way to set Scrubs / S.M.A.R.T. test to run bi-weekly?

I've just upgraded to 11.2 and one minor change I've noticed (compared to 9.10.2-u5) is that I can no longer set Scrubs or S.M.A.R.T. tests to run bi-weekly on the same day of the week.

I'd like to be able to set Scrubs to run on every other Moneday. Is it possible in the new Web UI?

Hi, this is my first server build.

My hardware:
CPU: Intel Xeon E-2172
RAM: 32 GB Samsung REG 2666
MB: Supermicro X11SCL-F
HBA: LSI MegaRAID 9211-8i SAS
HDD: 6 x WD Red Nas 4TB
SSD: 1 x Intel 80GB

The LSI card was given to me and should already be in IT mode.

I checked that the MB BIOS was the most recent, which it is.

The LSI card sits in the PCI-E x8 (in x16) slot

I don't know what BIOS settings to change, I think I've tried the most common things, like changing from Legacy to EFI and...

Network Interfaces on FreeNAS Mini XL unreliable, buggy

Good afternoon all!

I've been plagued by an issue lately which I'd like the experts' input on.

I have two identical FreeNAS Mini XLs. One is in the office I work at. One is at the CEO's home and serves as an offsite backup. I send ZFS replications to the offsite FreeNAS throughout the day and each evening. However, due to bandwidth restrictions, occasionally I need to bring the offsite Mini in to the office for a speedy replication. Then I return it to the offsite location.

Last time I...

Hello all

Please be patient with me. I will be increasing the size of my storage shortly.

As per my signature I have 2 freenas servers

Both with 4 X 2 tb drives

I would like to increase on one server from 2 to 3 TB drives.

I read the manual and I want to ensure i do not screw this up more than i normally will.

On one server
1) I put a drive offline

2) remove the drive from the server

3)turn server off

4) Insert the 3tb drive

5) turn server on and make new drive online. ....Now...
