hello
i have FreeNAS-11.2-U6 for some time installed and running (was running...) nextcloud 16 plugin installed. it worked great for many weeks.
until today i tried to update to the latest version and it failed for some reason and ended in error 500. tried to recover it with snapshots and ended with an bigger error 502. so i give up and i want to copy data from nextcloud data folder.
is there any way to mount the jail data folder with nextcloud files for samba windows ?
if so.. how ?

Hi everyone,
After reading some posts and guides on this forum, I feel ready to post my FreeNAS plans. I usually build my PC's on my own from chosen components, but it's the first time I'm doing a server-project.
What am I planning to do with the system?
- Backups for Windows 10 PC's, and Linux Servers (Ubuntu / Centos) and Apple TimeMachine
- Media Server (Plex) - So I need good transcoding Power (Maybe also for two 4K streams in near future...?)
- Downloader - Couchpotato or...
Please help to get another FreeNAS dream come true ![:)]( "Smile :)")

Have issues with FreeNAS FreeNAS-11.2-U6 that I upgraded from 11.2-U4 a week or two ago.
Noticed that my plex installation was out of date, so decided to upgrade to most recent going to 1.18.1.2019
Performed the steps I always done...
1. ssh into jail and did pkg update
* Received a warning about iocage not current version *which is weird - system was built from scratch under version 11, and I never received this error/warning before. Allowed to ignore which I did.
2. shut down my plex...

Hi all,
the CPU temperature reported seems to be a more or less constant issue.
I smiled when I started the dashboard immediately after restarting the nas an saw -273.15K as lowest temperature

The Dashboard reports between 6-9°C, same for the old UI.
syctl -a returns a die temperature of some 16-17°C.
Room temperature is about 20°C and I know from Gigabytes and other windows based HW monitoring tools that the CPU temperature should be somewhere aroung 30-35°C for CPU in idle state.

Hello, I have such a problem when trying to replace the hard disk after a disk failure, at some point the most likely damaged disk also, and now I do not see my pool, whether there is any possibility to read the discs one by one, or restore the pool without having a backup.

For the last 3 days and ~12 hours, I have had this error message on the FreeNAS server's display, but can't see anything wrong in the dashboard:

I have had Freenas up and running without issue for over three years now, current on 11.2 U7
About 2pm eastern time today suddenly I nor my wife can no longer access our shared folders via windows explorer, we are told that we do not have permissions. I did not make any changes prior to today and I admit I lost my head and tried various thing to fix it afterwards to no avail and probably made it worse.
Is there some way to either fix it or to reset all permissions, delete all users and...

Ciao .. ho installato il plugin di deluge su freenas ed ho provato mediante il mio pc win10 a creare una connessione con il server mediante la ''gestione connessione'' deluge.
Mi dice che il server non e' online .. mentre se vado via browser funziona tutto regolarmente.
Qualcuno sa darmi qualche dritta ? Grazie !!

Hi all,
I had FreeNAS 9.2.1 running on a SuperMicro X7SPA-HF board, running ZFS (4 disks) a couple of disks failed, but it still worked in a degraded state with 2 disks. Then, with major house renovation... it got powered off for about 18 months!
When I brought it back online.... it worked (amazingly). So I bought the ASRock Rack C3758D4I-4L board, new case 32gb RAM new disks with a view to migrating everything to the new device...... this is where the problems started.

Hey guys,
So spend the last couple of weeks trying to figure out the best possible build for my usecase/budget. Compared different OS solutions and hardware, ended up with freenas and think I got the parts mostly figured out now and planning to order in the next few weeks.
Posting here to see what you guys think about it, and if you can answer some of the questions I still have (like if adding L2ARC would benefit this build)

Hey all,
I have a 1500VA/900W CyberPower model CP1500PFCLCD UPS unit that I wish to use for both my primary desktop machine and the FreeNAS box. I would like both machines to be notified to shut down gracefully when on battery power. The unit has a USB and a serial connection. Question, can both be used at the same time?
For example, I could connect USB to the FreeNAS box and serial to my desktop PC running Windows. Would that work? (And would the other way around work? Does FreeNAS...

like the topic says..
when i configure "Settings.json" in transmission when i restart the jail it reset back to default..
tryed to google it and a lot of people is getting the same issue but can't find an answer
even if you stop the jail and try to configure it. The jail starts up right away.
Anyone who have any tricks?

Hello,
So today my pool of 2x4tb hard drives in mirror setup got filled up by an unexpected windows backup and another user. The root volume says 96% but every dataset within says 100%.
To top things off, while trying to delete some files, I've noticed some deletes are very slow and at least one of the drives is not sounding so good. At this point I'm nervous about best approach to safely get out of this mess.
I would very much appreciate some guidance here.

I just upgraded my system to a Ryzen 5 3600 and I'm trying to get my Pools to decrypt. I also have a backup of the config (with passwords saved) from the working install.
I remember the passphrase, and I have the Geli.key. When I initially tried to decrypt I got a Middleware error.
I then detached the pool, and have been attempting to re-import which gives me this error.

I've lurked for quite some time in the forums, reading, learning, and ultimately deciding to build a FreeNAS system over buying a prebuilt. I had actually acquired some of the hardware in 2017 in my initial desire to build a NAS until I realized how much the drives would cost... That all changed last week with the Newegg 8TB WD Red sale and my wife's growing business storage.
For starters, my equipment is a bit older because it was purchased based on a previous hardware guide that is now...

- CPU make and model - Intel Xeon E5 2650 V3
- RAM quantity - 60GB DDR4 ECC RAM
- Hard drives, quantity, model numbers, and RAID configuration, including boot drives - HP Seagate 4TB SATA 7.2K 6Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive ST4000NM0033 - BRAND NEW. RAIDZ2
- Hard disk controllers -2x LSI SAS9220-8i - flashed to IT mode.
- Network cards - 2x 10GB Network card for ISCSI, then the normal gigbits on...

Hi,
In a QNAP I am able to add more drives to an existing Array and then just expand the Array's capacity.
To confirm, is this not supported within FreeNAS/ZFS?
Asking as I started with a 4 Bay server, now have an 8 Bay one and would love to start using my remaining Bays and so far haven't been able to find a straight answer other than creating another pool and putting disks over there and what not...
