FreeNAS won't boot after CPU upgrade

Hi Everyone!

I sure hope you can help with this one...

For the record, I've been using FreeNAS for over 3 years (since 9.x, I'm currently on 11.2-U5(?)) and I haven't tried doing much other than basic NAS functionality. So, I would consider myself to be both a Unix and FreeNAS n00b, though I have both used and worked in the computer industry since the late 1980s (first computer was a TRS-80 with 4K(!) of RAM and a cassette tape drive storage).

It has worked very well through an upgrade...

Resilver time

hello,

Can you check that this time is a normal time what is needed to resilver?

Trouble Installing Updates - Will Not Update

Hi, I'm trying to install the latest updates to my NAS. It shows the following:

And when I click "apply pending update" it just brings up a popup that says "update" with a close button and nothing else. It just stays like that and does nothing.

Not sure why it won't update. Tried searching but couldn't find any useful information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I successfully setup a COPY from many Google Drive accounts to my FreeNAS 11.2-U7 server. However, I have cannot seem to get my FreeNAS server to sync with Google Photos. Has anyone had success syncing to Google Photos?

I'm curious. I have installed FreeNAS directly on a HPe DL380 Gen10 server. I intend to use VMs in FreeNAS to drive PFSense, Unifi Protect (ubituiti products), and Unifi Controller. THe install of FreeNAS seemed to go fine. I was able to make a pool and all good. Pools reports "Healthy"

However, I hear repeated scans of the drives, and continual errors in the console.

[ERROR]::[177:655.0][CPU (MANY NUMBERS HERE)][os_aio_response_error][443]:SCSI_STATUS_CHECK_COND sense size 20...

How to install MiniDLNA into a FreeNAS 9.3, 9.10.x., 11.x (original GUI & New GUI) Jails (warden and iocage).

It appears that FreeNAS has no plans to incorporate a simple DLNA server for FreeNAS 9.3 and later so this thread contains detailed instructions to install MiniDLNA in a jail, your other option is to use Plex which does have a very good built in DLNA server.

I am a Windows technical person that Is used to using the GUI and seldom going into the command line.

I have about 40 downstream systems that I need to support. All systems are Netgear RedadyNAS systens, They are running out of processor power and Netgear does not have any responsible solution's.

The use of a GUI is essential since the downstream systems are maintained by technically capable but not proficient individuals.

I have moused around some of the forum responses and...

Is FreeNAS right for me??

Hey all,

I've played around a bit with Freenas so i know the basics. I have a strong background in IT just not with bsd or linux (know enough to be dangerous).

I'm getting ready for my 1st legit setup and wanted to run it by everyone to check for best practices and whatnot. How would you all set this up?

Primary use ~12tb of media storage (just storage). I have a small HTPC that Plex & OTA Antenna is already installed on for processing.
Secondary use - 1-2 small linux VMs for work...

I have been using the Java-based jviewer to remote control my ASRock Rack C2550D4I motherboard. It has been working fine (with some quirks) over the years.

Recently, I upgraded to macOS Catalina (currently on version 10.15.2) and since then I can launch jviewer but I get a blank / black screen and it says [0 fps] in the console.

My son is on macOS 10.14.6 (Mojave) and he can launch jviewer and it works as intended. If he and I connect at the same time, he can see my keystrokes are actually...

Possible to reuse TCG Enterprise encrypted drive?

I recently was able to get a HGST SS200 SAS SSD, and it was most likely encrypted when in Production. Is it possible to just wipe the drive and the encryption? I can't seem to get the drive to accept any commands. When I put it in a Windows machine, Disk management says "Access Denied" to anything I try and do to it.

Not sure that this is worth my time to try and figure out.

Hi,

One of the Harddrives in my NAS is throwing an Device error.
It's a Seagate 8TB drive, one of 4 in RaidZ1, running FreeNAS-11.2-U7

However, when I take the disk out and test it with Seagate SeaTools and HDTune, it seems to come out fine:

IP Filtering NFSv4 doesn't block the mount, results in input/output error on file access

Not really a bug, perhaps?

Scenario:
NFS enabled with NFSv4 checked
NFS IP filtering enabled
Attempt to mount NFS mount from a VM with a non-whitelisted IP address
NFS mount is successful, but results in input/output error when attempting to read the files within the mounted directory

With NFSv3, it's obvious that you are blocked because of the "connection refused" error. With NFSv4, it's not obvious at all what's happening. This was frustrating to troubleshoot because I forgot the IP...

Last night my server started rebooting on its own with the following message:

I just created my first pool on a freshly installed freenas. FreeNAS-11.2-U4.

I have two 3TB disks that I wanted to have as encrypted mirrored pool.
After creating the pool, I tried to set a passphrase.
However, all I get is the error message "Error creating passphrase for pool lucky".

I tried the legacy webinterface too, just to see if anything is different, and that got me the error message
