Since I upgraded to FreeNAS 11.3 I have noticed that I am no longer getting email notifications of updates. It now happened a couple of times already that it was only through the forums that I realised that an update was available.

When I log onto my NAS there is also no alert bell showing. So this would suggest that my NAS is not checking for available updates. Which is strange, because:

Running FreeNas-11.3-U2.1
System: HP N40L with 8GB RAM, 4x3TB IDE Disks in a raid-z1 Array

if I run zpool import, I receive the following (see freenas.png)
The disks are in a raid-z1 array. One disk was corrupted and I took one disk offline. This happened under FreeNAS-11.3-U2

From what I know,
- my HPNAS configuration no longer has no disks in the pool - and I don't understand why
- there must be 3 disks online.
And I took one disk offline.

I have replication running over a VPN from one strong FreeNAS box, site A, to another strong FreeNAS box, site B (1000 miles away). I have more than 50Mbps at each end. The VPN processing can and does handle 20 - 50 Mbps of traffic, when I send test traffic. Latency, inside the VPN is about 100ms. I don't normally need to run much traffic across it. I've been playing around with VMs recently and having some issues in getting things going. My aim is to have one VM running Pi-Hole and another running a folding@home client. I was struggling to Ubuntu 18.04 Server as others have on this board have identified. Now 20.04 LTS is out I thought I'd give it a go.

If the JDownloader is 'just another win app' for you as it was for me just a few hours ago, you can find this brief intro useful, as I didn't found anything concrete myself.

My brother was experimenting with the GitLab plugin on his FreeNAS box running 11.2-U5. He using the Plugin manager to create a GitLab jail. In learning about FreeNAS and about GitLab he ended up removing the jail and reinstalling from the Plugin manager 6 or 7 times. After the last time the GitLab plugin was no longer showing in the Available Plugins list. We both assumed that something had gotten cobbed up on his machine.

I have a question regarding the UI. When I open up the GUI on a maximised browser window there is the left navigation that can be hidden with a small “Toggle Collapse” button. When I unmaximise the browser window, the left menu disappears (which is okay, there is less screen real estate available). It keeps being accessible via the “Burger Menu”, though.

However, if the screen is maximised again, the UI changes to a two-column layout and the left menu doesn't show up again. And I cannot...

Hi All,

I want to map my dataset located in /mnt/mydataset to an iocage jail called mysql where I installed MySQL database. So that I could take snapshots of the MySQL data. How do I know where the data directory is and how do I map because it says I need to map it to an empty directory in the jail?

Dear All,

I'm a completely newbie to FreeNAS. I'm trying to install FreeNAS into my old HP Desktop PC (Model HP6005 Pro) for own use. However, I am stuck at the 'boot-up to USB' stage.

1. I have downloaded the latest FreeNAS ISO 'FreeNAS-11.3-U2.1.iso'.
2. I used RUFUS 3.10 to write the ISO to my 8GB thumb-drive (by default partition scheme : MBR)

A simple question. Is it best practice to have a one to one mapping with Pool Datasets (of the Windows type) and SMB shares?
E.g. if one wants to create 3 separate Windows Shares, each with it's own properties, should one create 3 separate datasets?

Hey guys

I'm having trouble with the download directory of qbittorent. I would like to say I'm an absolute newbie to freenas with very little experience in this.

First off I have it installed and it downloads no problem to what ever the default download directory is this is where it starts to go wrong. I would like to change the target directory to a dataset in the pool so Plex can access it as this is one of the main roles of the box. I've tried mounting and that doesn't seem to work it...
