Hello,

I'm searching for an advice in order to connect my Freenas Plex Server to the Plex account. No matter what I do following error is received:

For Plex installation I have followed these two guides (no customization, basically I installed Plex stright from the Plugin menu in Freenas, DHCP option):

Hi guys,
Iam new to freenas so looking forward to find some help here.
Currently i have a freenas server setup from an older pc. I brought 2x intel x540 10gig NIC.
1 for the main rig 1 for the NAS. The network card has 2 connection. Here is how phisically they are connected at the moment:
Freenas server 1 cable to the route 1 cable to the main rig
Main rig 1 cable to the route 1 cable to the freenas server
What iam tryin to achive that both be connected to the internet via the router with 1...

Qbittorent download file help

Hey guys

I'm having trouble with the download directory of qbittorent. I would like to say I'm an absolute newbie to freenas with very little experience in this.

First off I have it installed and it downloads no problem to what ever the default download directory is this is where it starts to go wrong. I would like to change the target directory to a dataset in the pool so Plex can access it as this is one of the main roles of the box. I've tried mounting and that doesn't seem to work it...

Morning,

This is first time using FreeNAS and looking forward to the TrueNAS version. I hope I didn't make a hugh mistake. I installed on a old Inspiron 14-5000 single HD laptop, followed a few tutorial on YouTube on how to create shares, install nextCloud and was successful. I bought a separate HD for this project to experiment and test FreeNAS and found this is what I was looking. Moved a lot of files to those shares and for two weeks was very satisfied.

Hey all! Running through a new storage expansion on my system, and I've run into a few unknowns I can't find the answers to in the documentation or searching past threads. My build is in the signature, but the tldr is that I'm running on the X10SL7-F on 11.2-U8, and I'm tapped out on direct HDD connections to my board (x6 4TB WD Red's and x6 8TB WD Red's). I currently have x6 additional 8 TB WD White's ready to shuck and install. In an ideal world, I'd like to extend my 2x(6 drive Z2 vdev)...

SMB shares and Pool Datasets

A simple question. Is it best practice to have a one to one mapping with Pool Datasets (of the Windows type) and SMB shares?
E.g. if one wants to create 3 separate Windows Shares, each with it's own properties, should one create 3 separate datasets?

Expanding Capacity via extra drives

Hi,

In a QNAP I am able to add more drives to an existing Array and then just expand the Array's capacity.

To confirm, is this not supported within FreeNAS/ZFS?

Asking as I started with a 4 Bay server, now have an 8 Bay one and would love to start using my remaining Bays and so far haven't been able to find a straight answer other than creating another pool and putting disks over there and what not...

Hello,

My computer server equipment should be in my signature, if it isn't, I will updated accordingly. Anyway, I finally pulled the trigger on the 11.2 to 11.3 release upgrade. With that, I have NOT upgrade the pool, in case I need to go back. All "datasets" I created in FreeNAS show up nicely; however, one is completely gone when I try to see it on my Windows 7 machine via SMB and my PLEX which is directly on the server. So...two different machines/systems and its not showing up...

Dear All,

I'm a completely newbie to FreeNAS. I'm trying to install FreeNAS into my old HP Desktop PC (Model HP6005 Pro) for own use. However, I am stuck at the 'boot-up to USB' stage.

1. I have downloaded the latest FreeNAS ISO 'FreeNAS-11.3-U2.1.iso'.
2. I used RUFUS 3.10 to write the ISO to my 8GB thumb-drive (by default partition scheme : MBR)
3. In BIOS, i go to Storage > Boot Order = set to USB Device (1st), Hard-Drive (2nd) & ATAPI CD-ROM Drive (3rd) then save and restart.

11.3 U2 Legacy Periodic Snapshot Tasks

I upgraded to 11.3 U2 a few weeks ago and so far so good! I just was going through some maintenance and realized about half of my periodic snapshots are showing as legacy and the other half are not. For the life of me, I can't figure out what is different between them, nor what this actually means.

Is there any advantage to the new system vs legacy? And would I just have to recreate the legacy tasks as I don't see an "upgrade" option.

Any help insight to this would be great!

Nextcloud - "Access through untrusted domain" error after editing config.php

Hi guys,

I'm running FreeNAS 11.3-U2 and have just fresh installed Nextcloud through the UI (first time I've used/installed it). After setting up, I get the error "Access through untrusted domain" when browsing to the jail's IP. I edited config.php under usr/local/www/nextcloud/config to add my IP, but to no avail - same message. I even tried deleting the 'trusted_domains' array but it appeared to make no change.

Switching the jail between DHCP (my preferred setting) and static IP made no...

Overview:
My FreeNAS SMB shares can't seem to be written to normally from Windows 10 desktop via the 10Gb network (1Gb is fine). Reading FROM those share works great on both connections.

Detailed Explanation:
I have FreeNAS (v11.2 U7) installed as a VM on a ESXi host (6.7 U3 in case it matters). The main "VM Network" is run off one of the 2 1Gb motherboard Intel NICs. My "10G Network" is via an installed Aquantia AQN-100-104-SFA PCIe card. The FreeNAS VM has 2 vNICs (VMXNET...

Duplicati Issue - probably permissions

I have managed to installed a FreeNas jail running Duplicati and after some buggering around managed to log in. I then created 3 folders in /mnt called (Install, Music, Data) and then use FreeNas to assign mountpoints to the appropriate datapools in FreeNas - so far so good.

If I then open a shell into the Duplicati Jail, I can see the mount points I have configured and cd into them to find all the files in the datapool(s). whoami says I am root

I then open duplicati up and set up a backup...
