FreeNAS installation (11.3-U2) destroyed after power-outage

Hello!

Download.jpg

Yesterday my girlfriend tried to recover a seemingly lost bread in our toaster in the kitchen by poking with a metal fork in it. This produced a short-circuit which led to an power-outage in my flat. After recovery, I found that my FreeNAS-installation couldn't boot any more.

The installation boots from two usb-bootsticks as bootdevice, 6 WD HDs as main storage pool (Z2), and an NVME-SSD for the jails. Mainboard is ASRock Rack E3C226D2I with 16GB...

I have a somewhat working freeNAS up, I can login to GUI no problem
however it can not be seen on windows or Linux networks,

I have the current version FreeNAS-11.3-U2.1 installed
I'm using windows 10 and Linux 18.04 servers and workstations

Windows 10 I have disabled the sharing properties, updated the NIC driver and reenabled the shares
this is behind a pfsense firewall and is not accessing the outside (Just for home use)
It is a ProxMox VM but as I said I am able to login into the...

Currently on freenas 11.2U8
This issue has never happen before the update from 11.1U7

After reboot i get "the web interface could not be accessed"
for some reason the only way i can get to the GUI of freenas is by connecting a monitor and using the console to reconfigure network interface(option1)

i noticed this because i got an email saying
Code:
FreeNAS @ freenas.local

New alerts:

Hi all,

Dug out my old Gen8 1610T Proliant server and have managed to upgrade it up to 11.3. This then gave me the idea to have a virtual machine running windows 10 off of it.

I have got through the UEFI issue with the boot from file and am getting the windows logo appear. Almost immediately though I get a blue screen (see attached), which has me a bit flummoxed!

Could anyone help me out and point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Hi All
Thank you for helping out with my post earlier about getting my DNS problem worked out. I'm still trying to get this Plex Media Server set up. I got the DNS issue resolved, but now I can't get Plex installed on freenas. I was able to create a jail called plexmedia and i've started it. That's as far as I've gotten. If I try to install Plex manuallly using shell from the jail, I get..............

I previously posted with delusions of knowing the source of the issue.

I ate some humble pie and learned not to assume I knew the source of the problem, and
to turn off debug and verbose logging before posting the log.

Plex is able to see my jail-mounted media-dataset library.
It cannot play anything sufficiently large (which thus requires transcoding).
[This has thus far included HD and SD files, all of which have 5.1 or AC3 audio.]

I have tested fileson a Roku 3 and the Plex web client...

Having trouble generating new certificates with an existing CA in FreeNAS. The CA was created~6 months ago, and certificates issued from that CA within FreeNAS back then are/were fine.

Code:
$ openssl verify -CAfile ./ca.crt working.crt
unifi.crt: OK

But now I'm having problems with new certificates generated the same way failing to verify.

Code:
$ openssl verify -CAfile ./ca.crt new.crt

Issues with Creation of Jails/Plugins after update to 11.3

My FreeNAS box has been working for me since the days of FreeNas 7. The upgrade to 11 went well (except for all of my old jails no longer working). I had everything setup again, but I was running into some permissions issues when trying to manually create Jails. I was at least able to use the Plugins for Plex, Sonarr, Radarr.

Fast forward to 11.3U1 upgrade. Once installed my previously existing plugins no longer worked. They were giving me permissions errors on startup. I figured, no...

Imported a dataset to a new drive, now it's unaccessable.

The dataset that was imported last night is showing up as having the same data size as the old dataset. But the problem is that I'm not able to find any folders in the dataset to set mount points. I go to check the ACL settings, and I'm stuck on Please Wait. And figuring that I was good, the old dataset was already destroyed.

Hello, good to everyone. I have recently been installing the Let´s encrypt certificate in order to have HTTPS on my private NAS.
All good until after installing it does not appear as an option to be able to select it in the ssl certificates. What could be happening? I have restarted the nas, checked commands, everything seems to be ok

Virtual Machine Performance | 11.2-U3

Hello,

As as long time 9.10 user I recently made the jump to 11.2 One of the features I've long anticipated trying is the built in support for VM's

System specs:
-Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5675 @ 3.07GHz (24 cores)
-64GB RAM
-240GB SSD for VM/Jails

Have to say, it's been a mixed bag with how well they've been working.
I deployed an Ubuntu server with PiHole as my first test, this worked rather ok.

But recently I deployed a Windows 10 VM and the experience has been horrible.

Dear All,

I'm mounting a ZFS dataset which is a user's home directory on an RHEL 7 box using cifs automounts.

The automount map mount options are pulled from AD:

-fstype=cifs,vers=2.0,rw,sec=krb5,username=nobody,cruid=99,cifsacl,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,multiuser

When mounted the options appear as follows...

Hi,

I recently upgraded from FreeNAS-11.3-U1 to FreeNAS-11.3-U2.1 from within the system/update section

Like an idiot i didnt do a recent snapshot all my VMs or the main volumes.

When Freenas rebooted after the upgrade only 1 of the 4 VMs booted back up. All the jails seem ok and the smb shares etc but the VM disk seem to be corrupted.

They all hang on boot.

I managed to recover one of them with an old snapshot i had of the...

Dear All,

due to covid-19 situation, stuck at home and tried to make use my old computer to install freenas (want to do this long time but no time due to work :) )
I am very newbie in freenas, myself is long time windows users.

'Upgrade' replication tasks in 11.3?

After upgrading a couple of FreeNAS servers to 11.3 (without any problems whatsoever I might add), I noticed that replication tasks that have come across in the upgrade are using the LEGACY transport. I understand from reviewing the 11.3 documentation, that other transports enable additional options for replication tasks. Several questions spring to mind:
  1. Are there any immediate benefits in 'upgrading' replication tasks that use the LEGACY transport to say use the SSH transport...
