Since we require an anonymous config for our FTP client. This presents security issues of course. Is there some way to allow only certain IP's or IP ranges to access the FTP port?

migrating native FreeNAS to virtualization - good or bad idea?
So my Router just died due to the warm temps here in Germany - im looking at you AVM >.<
I thought about going to step up my game and deploy pfsense next to Free/TrueNAS inside a VM-Host-machine, but my hardware is almost maxed out right now - so is my wallet - which leaves me with what I have right now. (look at my signature)
Should I do it?
Is it a bumpy road to success?
Is my hardware capable of doing it?
Is migration existing zpools and jails a p.i.t.a?
Proxmox or EXSi?

S3 service configuration - Access/Secret keys?
So I'm looking to use my FreeNAS box to provide S3 storage for some of my other local systems, and I'm a little stuck on the configuration of that service, particularly with respect too the access key and secret key. Obviously, the place to start is to RTFM--but unfortunately, TFM is 100% not helpful here. It says, in toto:

In jail /dev/cuaU#number always change after restart
Hi, I'm using zigbee2mqtt in jail for my homeassistant whis is in another jail, that's doesn't matter.
In the Jail after restart FreeNAS (or sometimes restart Jail but normally doesn't) the cuaU number of my cc2531 USB device is changed.
for example Zigbee2MQTT is running and working as it good,
ls /dev show: for the cc2531
one day I restart my FreeNAS for some reason. The zigbee2mqtt will always not work correctly due to the cuaU1...

Bug in S3 service?
According to /usr/local/lib/python3.7/site-packages/middlewared/plugins/s3.py, both the access key and the secret key can only contain alphanumeric characters. However, S3 allows / and + in the secret key, and Cloud credentials accepts these characters for S3. Shouldn't the S3 service match the behavior of the actual AWS S3 service?

iscsi connection dropping vms read only
Hello All,
Since last couple of days our iscsi connection getting drop with below erros. Our FreeNAS storage connected to kvm HV's via iscsi. All vms gone into read only mode. Please suggest what could be issue. we have checked there is no network connectivity issue.

New Setup: Plex Access
Hi all,
First time install and user of FreeNAS here - running version 11.3.
I'm using a HP N40L w 8GB ram, and 4x older 2TB Seagate Barracuda drivers, purely just for video access for my Plex server, note that i do not want plex running on the N40L, and simply want it to be for file/video storage for my Nvidia Shield to access.
I successfully managed to Pool my disks, and create two datasets, one for movies, and one for tv shows.
Also successfully managed to SMB share these two datasets...

Intel X520-DA2 won't work with SFP (1Gb)?

I setup my first little NAS and have "problem". The switch I use at the moment is a little Netgear managed switch with 2 SFP ports (not SFP+), so it supports only 1Gb connections (S350 series GS310TP). Because of that, I chose the Intel X520 network card wich should support both, 1Gb and 10Gb so I can use another switch with SFP+ later (to expensive when I needed a new switch some time ago).
The network card is connected with a 1 m DAC twinax cable to the switch and I wonder why...

ZFS config and rebuild times
HI All,
I'm after some advice on how best to configure a 24x 12TB pool of disk with 2x 800GB SSDs. Ideally we'd do mirrors but this doesn't give us enough storage so we're looking at a RAIDZ3 option with spares.
Under consideration are a 3x vdev of 8 disks (144TB raw) or a 2x vdev of 12 disks (192TB raw). The disks have an URE of 10^15 so we're concerned about rebuild times and the chance of another disk failure during this. I'm still trying to work on numbers to figure out just how bad...

Je fais tourner FreeNAS sur un vieil ordinateur portable depuis quelques mois en mode test et exploration et j'en suis très satisfait !
Je vais donc me lancer dans le montage de ma propre config pour pouvoir en profiter pleinement et surtout avoir un vrai espace de stockage (500go pour le moment sur le portable...).
Le stockage justement, parlons-en... Je me suis déjà documenté mais j'ai encore un peu de mal avec les différents systèmes RaidZ de ZFS, donc j'aimerais un peu d'aide...

I am using TrueNAS core as a backend storage device for an ESXI host. I installed 2x Samsung 480GB SM953s and set them up as a dedupe VDEV on the pool where the iSCSI target is located. I ZVOL I created for this testing is set to be sparse.

Long time lurker and first time poster. I've been using FreeNAS for about 7 years now having built a small box for file sharing (smb, iscsi) and plex. The specs on this box are:
