veeam and 12 BETA

I did start have a problem when backing veeam to 12BETA . Error to merge restore poins, 11.3 U3.2 was working great.

Old Jails gone after update form FreeNAS 11.2 to 11.3

Hi,

maybe a simple, dumb question : after updating FreeNAS from 11.2 to 11.3 my Jails (nextcloud) have simply disappeared,
I cannot access the old GUI anymore, jls, iocage list says nothing, the command "warden doesnt exist.
Anybody with a quick fix?

How to size a SSD VDEV for all current metadata, now that v12 beta is out?

I'll be using allocation classes (devices) on v12. Now that v12 beta is here, I'd like to get testing. But obviously I need to size the underlying SSDs appropriately, to buy them. But how do I calculate what size metadata vdev I will need?

  1. How do I obtain the current total size of metadata (all of it - spacemaps, DDT, file system pointers & records, etc!) using the zdb or other commands?
  2. Is this the same as the amount of on-disk pool space that will be needed (MB/GB of disk...

Can't disconnect old volume

I'm unable to disconnect or export an old volume that is no longer being used. The volume is(was) on a single striped disc (ada2) which is installed, but the status of the volume is shown as UNKNOWN (see below)

When I try to Export/Disconnect the pool, I get:

If I try #zpool export volume4, I get cannot open 'volume4': no such pool

Any ideas? I don't need this volume and I don't care...

Unable to Authenticate locally to freenas

Hello Everyone, thank you in advance for your help.

I have a freenas box which was disconnected for several months due to a move. I got it all hooked back up but now I'm unable to authenticate. On the console I get the login prompt, when i enter a username i do not get prompted for a password. It ends up timing out after 300seconds. Ive tried to ssh into the box, it looks like its going to work, i get the prompt for the fingerprint, then..... it times out.

I am excited about the new metadrive feature but confused as to whether ZIL and L2ARC drives should be used at the same time? They sound like they perform different functions, but it there a point of diminishing returns? Are there any guidelines when a metadrive should be used over ZIL and L2ARC drives?

I have a remote FreeNas system (currently running 11.3 latest, or one version behind) that I use to backup my main NAS to. In my hubris, I enabled full disk encryption on the backup pool, and now that I have multiple terabytes replicated into it, I don't want to tear it apart to remove the encryption. Je viens tout juste de me mettre à FreeNAS après 2 ans sur XPEnology, je suis tout nouveau sur le forum. Je profite de ce forum pour bénéficier de vos conseils pour pouvoir établir une configuration répondant à ces besoins:

Hi all.

So a little back ground info. I was upgrading my pools over the weekend, and part of it involved copying a 10.7Tb dataset from my secondary pool to my primary (took a few hours) using the below commands:

This went smoothly, as i have done many times before, and once I tore down the secondary array and replaced it with a new bigger pool under the same pool name, I copied everything back. That part has gone without issue...

Snapshot not visible but still missing 10Tb of disk space.

ich möchte Zoneminder nutzen. Ziel ist es mit meinen IP Cameras die Videos auf meinen Server zu bringen, in meinen Ordner der schön übersichtlich sein soll, also nicht der jail Ordner in dem Zoneminder sonst speichert. Versucht habe ich einen Mount mit dem Speicherort von Zoneminder zu meinem Zoneminder storage (Zoneminder als Plugin natürlich). Tautulli been running fine but now can't start

This seems really odd and I can't figure out what to do. I have several iocage jails running fine and then after a router reboot, Tautulli would not let me access the webui. I found that the jail couldn't start. I deleted the jail and tried to create it again but it kept having the same issue, I went down the path of upgrading from 11.2 to 11.3 U3.2 and also upgraded all my jails (thankfully most went smooth with the exception of transmission which took some time to fix). Trying to setup SMB shares on 12-BETA1 I've run into some challenges with permissions.

Most likely this is me doing something wrong :smile:

Trying to change owners on a dataset from the webui doesn't seem to do anything, even with the checkboxes for user, group and recursive checked. If I end up changing them via CLI the webui show the new owner. ACLs get set - checked with getfacl.

The other thing I'm having challenges with is using groups for sharing.

Hi,
After a fresh installation of truenas core 12.0 beta, I try to install the plexmediaserver plugin. But I got an error when the installation reached its 75%.

Hello!!, I'm using pfSense inside a bhyve virtual machine managed with iohyve. This VM has two dedicated NICs that are masked to the FreeNAS host using pptdevs. The host and VM interfaces are Realtek (I know they are not the best for FreeBSD) and I would like to use the Realtek's 1.95 driver for FreeBSD. Here comes the problem:
VMM module must be loaded before if_re module to mask the two interfaces for pfSense, however web gui doesn't allow to specify the order of variables in loader.conf...

I recently imported an old 9.2.1 Freenas ZFS vcolume to a new 11.3 install, in order to integrate it with our domain controller. The domain is properly joined, Freenas is allowing users in based on their domain credentials, and everything generally seems to work as I would expect.

This was originally set up as an unauthenticated open share, where everyone had full control of the files and folders. We want to continue to give all the domain users full control, and as a result, I set the ACL...

Hi folks,

So I have three user accounts, two of which randomly lost their connection and now access is denied. I have done no updates or maintenance to the box in ages. The third connection, mine, still works fine. All user settings are identical.

Tried remapping them on the other two machines - access denied.
