Error when trying to change user password

I get following error message when trying to change a user password via the webui.
SMB shares that are useing a user authentification are also not working.

OS Version: FreeNAS-11.3-U3.2

Salve a tutti, sono un nuovo iscritto al forum.
Come è la procedura per cambiare lingua nel sistema freenas. Vorrei impostare la lingua italiana, ma quando vado in system per passare da inglese a italiano, non mi cambia niente.

Hallo zusammen,

Ich bin neu hier und habe nun meine ersten NAS auf FreeNAS (FreeBSD) Basis gebaut.
Dabei habe ich bereits vieles von diversen Foren lernen können, nur zu einem Thema fand ich keine Antworten:
Einer manuellen Festplatten Aufteilung nach der Installation, da es während dieser, keine Möglichkeit einer manuellen Partitionierung gibt.

Hello everyone!
Hopefully you can help me with my current problem.
I had to shutdown my Freenas server and after turning it back on my 2 boot USB's failed (mirrored SanDisk USB's)
Shutdown was perfomed via web GUI.
After reinstalling Freenas 11.2-U7 on M.2 SSD in usb enclosure I couldn't import my pool into newly installed Freenas.
No hardware changes were done, except new SSD in USB enclosure as boot device was added.
GUI doesn't see any pools.
"zpool import" does nothing
I upgraded to...

freenas non boota e non vede dischi

Ciao,

ho preso un server d'occasione con una installazione su HDD di freenas 11.3-U3.2.
Speravo di poter installare (provisoriamente) un solo disco (WD red da 4 tera) per poi in un secondo tempo aggiungere un secondo disco per il mirroring.

problema: quando installo il disco, freenas (che normalmente viene visto senza problemi dal router via dhcp) mi sparisce dalla rete (sospetto che non finisca il boot, ma non ho un monitor per vedere cosa succede, il disco di avvio smette di friggere...

How to install RAID5 with different size disks and then extend it

Hi guys,

Here is my plan.
I have 3 disks of 10+10+8 terras
I want to create a RAID5 out of that of 16Gb.
Then I want to take away the 8 disks.
I will then copy the data from another 10 Terra disks to the RAID5
Once the data are copied and stored on the RAID5 I will add the new 10 Terra disk to the RAID5.
At the end I will have 3 disks of 10+10+10.

How can I do that?
I tried to create a pool of RAID-Z but it is different no? And then can it be extended?

Migrate Emby configuration

Hi,

I've manually installed Emby, using a jail created by me. Now I would like to migrate to the FreeNAS official Emby plugin, in order to have the jail updated.

Is it possible to create the jail from the GUI using the plugin, then migrate both jail and Emby configuration in order to have everything ready?

It seems like there are lot of guides here on installing Nextcloud, and a number of people reporting problems with many of them. So, I figured, why not write another one? This is inspired by the work of @kjake in his scripts to build jails for Unifi and Crashplan, and largely follows the process that @dureal99d documented...

HBA Card

Can anyone recommend a decent RAID card (capable of RAID 0, 1, 6 or 10) that can also be flashed to IT mode so it can be used as a HBA. So i would be able to use the card for a specific use case, they can be flashed back to original firmware i presume?

VM management on web ui

HI everybody,

I have a fresh installation of TrueNAS and wanted to use the virtual machine feature.
The first try to install this VM was okay, but later on the VNC connection dropped and the VM was in a stale state.
I tried to stop the VM from the web ui, but unfortunatly got only an error and so the VM is not manageable... as it can't be stopped...

maybe does someone have some experience around the VM feature usage and this error?

36 bay supermicro storage. pool0 is 2 raidz2 6 drive vdevs. Played around, tested things, all appears well. Performance adequate for my needs, everything hunky-dory.

Added 24 more drives as a new pool pool1, which is 2 12drive raidz3's. Ran all the dd and smartctl tests, all good.

So I know the best thing would be to destroy pool0, add it to pool1 and then start copying data on there. But that ain't gonna happen. Files move off and on regularly in large chunks, over the course of a...

It will not let me install either to usb OR an internal ssd.
It detects the drive i tell it to install
it goes through the creation of da0 a couple times and then after active set on da0 i got the following message

cannot create 'freenas-boot' : pool already exists
The FreeNAS installation on da0 has failed. Press enter to continue..

now i've tried this on 2 different usb drives and even tried to an intel ssd.

the usb's i've tried cleaning them with diskpart and even did a full fat32...

It is a security problem to have X11 accessible via network? If yes, how I can close it?

Hi, I am currently building a NAS box, waiting on parts. With that said, I wanted to find out the best way to go about setting up the disks, options for maximum speed, and decent speed with some resilience? I also read that mirroring will be just as advantageous regarding performance. Also, confused about how many Vdevs I should have, and how that might also affect performance and resilience.

I have 8x14tb drives, each top out at around 210-220Mb/s. The NAS will be used for backups from...

Hi. I'm in the process of building out a 4U server and waiting on the final component....the 4U chassis. Apologies if this post is in the wrong forum.

I like the Norco RPC-4224, especially the previous posts on this forum showing people's success with it. But, it seems impossible to find online to purchase. ipcdirect.net is Norco's official online store, but it's unclear what they have in stock, and their phone number plays a message saying that it's been disconnected.

I have a fresh FreeNAS box setup, can connect to the web-based management page just fine, Windows will see the machine in network locations; however, when I try to open the network location or map a drive, there's a prompt for network credentials and no matter which user I try to login with there's an error "The user name or password is incorrect". The user accounts I tried are definitely present in the FreeNAS users list, the passwords match, the SMB service is running ib the FreeNAS box, I...

Nextcloud - "Access through untrusted domain" error after editing config.php

Hi guys,

I'm running FreeNAS 11.3-U2 and have just fresh installed Nextcloud through the UI (first time I've used/installed it). After setting up, I get the error "Access through untrusted domain" when browsing to the jail's IP. I edited config.php under usr/local/www/nextcloud/config to add my IP, but to no avail - same message. I even tried deleting the 'trusted_domains' array but it appeared to make no change.

Switching the jail between DHCP (my preferred setting) and static IP made no...

Errors when installing plugins

Hello,

I've been trying to install my first set of plugins with FreeNAS 11.3, and I keep running into one of two errors:

When I try using NAT or DHCP, i get the following error:

This error occurs with a whole host of plugins (my goal is to get mineOS and plex up and running, but I tried a couple and got the same results.)

When I specify a static IP, I get a little further, I think, and see the following:

Dell PowerEdge T710 for home server

I am planning my first FreeNAS home server and found an upgraded Dell PowerEdge T710 for US$550.00 that looks interesting. The server needs to run Plex, Nextcloud, Logitech Media Server (if a version exists that will run on FreeNAS) and it will be used as a file server in an mixed MacOS/Windows 10/Linux/IoT network. In the future I may add a security camera server that monitors a mix of 7 - 8 2.1MP and 4.2MP cameras. I have Netgear switches that support link aggregation.
