Errors trying to sign CSR.

FreeNas VER: FreeNAS-11.3-U3.2
After creating a self-signed CA and creating an intermediate signed by the self-signed I then proceeded to create CSR's for my devices.
I followed this documentation.

I rebooted freenas.
I logged into iDRAC to create CSR, downloaded that CSR, and tried to get FreeNAS to issue a cert for the CSR.

Cannot access FreeNAS server from a vm on separate ESXi server

I would be grateful if someone could shed some light on why I cannot access FreeNAS or a FreeNAS share from a virtual machine on a separate VMWare ESXi host.

Hardware Config:
FreeNAS server:
Motherboard make and model: ASROCK B85M PRO4
CPU make and model: intel Core i5 I5-4590S
RAM quantity: 32GB Corsair CMX16GX3M2A1333C9
Hard drives, quantity, model numbers, and RAID configuration, including boot drives: 6 WD Red 4TB, lz4
Hard disk controllers: SATA
Network cards: On board B85M PRO4, no...

I used the admin UI's System / Certificates / Add to make a certificate signing request (CSR) for my FreeNAS server. I followed instructions in 7.16. Certificates. My intention is to export this, and sign it using my private Certificate Authority which I created using OpenSSL. The CSR appears in the Certificates list. I click on the (…) (Options) for that entry, and a menu appears.

11.3 to 12.0-BETA Jails upgrade and devfs rulesets

After updating to 12.0-BETA most of my jails do not start anymore.

As a first naive approach I first updated one of the jails from the GUI and then tried to upgrade it without success.

Using the CLI

iocage upgrade
command I learned that I first had to fetch the new 12.1 release. Actually 12.1 should work because TrueNAS 12.0-BETA should work with all 12.x releases.

So for this question, I need to give a bit of background.

BACKGROUND: MY SYSTEM UNDER 11.3:

My pool data is very large, very dedupable files (20TB of VMs), to the point that the extra hardware for dedup was worth it to save HDD costs (3.5 x dedup, I'm saving about 200TB of SAS3 raw disk cost with dedup).

To handle dedup, the structure under 11.3 has been:
  • 4 core Xeon
  • 3 way mirrored enterprise SAS3 for the pool (for speed/resilience)
  • 256GB DDR4 @ 2400, to...

With the advent of 12, I want to send/recv my old 11.3 pool contents to a new pool, so that I can set updated properties on the pool and its datasets which are more optimal for my current use, as well as leveraging the new features in 12, and so that the data will be written fresh, and unfragmented, as well.

In my old pool, some dataset properties got modified over time, and data in place was not updated of course when they changed. I want to end up with the same data, but to update the...

Hello,
I've read the documentation about encrypted pools in FreeNAS. It says:
Encrypted pools that have no passphrase are unlocked at startup. Pools with a passphrase remain locked until a user enters the passphrase to unlock them.

I have Proxmox on my server and FreeNAS is a VM on it.

The boot device and also the VM image storage is a mirror with two self encrypting SSDs.

Hello,

So I crossflashed my IBM 1015 to LSI9211-IT. Now I am a bit lost on what to do to take fully advantage of it... Is FreeNAS dealing with it directly?
My understanding was that the RAID filesystem was saved on the card... i have trouble understanding how all this works with FreeNAS?

I have FreeNAS 11.3-U3.2 running on two HP Proliant Microservers. I also run Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Sabnzbd and Transmission plug-ins.

I am quite keen to upgrade to the TrueNAS Core 12 Beta train as soon as I can, but I am obviously a bit weary about rushing in if there are problems. I have been checking the forum since the Beta was released last week looking for feedback on the upgrade. Hi there,

Here is a straight to the point guide I write because I feel that the others are confusing. This one should work as it even includes the UEFI Shell to boot from.
Here is a quick overview of the steps - First make a USB key boot in Freedos, second Drop the files in the USB and Third boot in UEFI shell and run the commands.

A folder in my dataset is missing! How do I bring it back?

This all started when I did a quick ftp session to transfer some files over to my other server. I connected ftp as root "I needed a quick way in" and copied the folder over. Now the folder it non-existent. I try to recreate the folder and it says it's in use by another program. I'm not sure how to make my folder reappear.

J'ai acheté des disques d'occasion (WD red 4to) et je pense avoir un problème sur l'un d'entre eux :

Comme vous pouvez le voir, les valeurs des attributs critiques sont à 0 mais j'ai pourtant des erreurs "read failure" sur les longs tests SMART effectués...
J'ai essayé cette commande entre les tests 3 et 2:

I recently transitioned from Windows Server 2012 to Freenas 11.3 U3.2 (latest at time of writing) to host ~20 TB of data, a media server VM (emby), and a UrBackup jail. The final installed followed several months of testing including CPU stress and memory testing and HDD burnin. Testing showed that one 8 GB memory stick purchased on ebay as a set of 8 was faulty. This showed by memtest86+ freezing and ECC memory errors being manifested in the BIOS and IPMI logs. I replaced the bad stick and...

Freenas 11.3 upgrade to Truenas 12 beta iSCSI connection drops

I have upgraded to Truenas 12 beta without upgrading the pool and everything works no problem except iSCSI just would not connect then I reinstalled Freenas 11.3 samething just would not reconnect. Then used Truenas 12 beta again and upgraded the pool and still will not connect. Now cannot goback to 11.3 because the pool was upgraded and no way for me to connect to iSCSI even if I create a new zvol it will just keep reset by peer and then drops and hangs the nic. I even did a clean install...
