First I'm new to this so pardon dumb questions..

I have a supermicro a2sdi-4c-hnlf board.
I have a Silverstone cs381 case with 2 enclosures.
One enclosure is connected via the mini sas on the board to mini sas on the drive cage.
The other is connected via a reverse breakout of enclosure mini sas to 4 sata ports.

The enclosures seem to be recognized ok and are aware drives are installed. However no disk devices are created. Only /dev/enc0 and enc1 are created. How do I get the drive devices...

Scripted installation of Nextcloud 19 in iocage jail

It seems like there are lot of guides here on installing Nextcloud, and a number of people reporting problems with many of them. So, I figured, why not write another one? This is inspired by the work of @kjake in his scripts to build jails for Unifi and Crashplan, and largely follows the process that @dureal99d documented...

Hi Guys,

I am looking forward to the impending release of TrueNAS Core.

From what I have understood from previous forum posts, TrueNAS Core should give me the ability to mount my Google Drive in a Jail.

I was just wondering whether anyone who has moved on to the Nightlies has tried this out.

Thanks

Tony

Will there be regular Beta release updates? If so, is there a set release schedule? When can we expect the next update?

I am keen to update from FreeNAS 11.3-U3.2, but if there is a new update about to be released, I would prefer to wait for that

While i was looking for an installation guide on how to install NzbHydra2 in a iocage jail in FN11.2, i was unable to find any.
Since i do really like the added benefit of running nzbhydra2, i tried to figure it out for myself and eventually succeeded!
I figured this could also be helpfull for others, which is why i decided to share it here.

Hi all
So j am using an old enterprise hp system. I was running 11.3 well mostly just using for smb shares to start and expanding uses over time. I decided to try out the beta but my smb share never made it over so I tried going back to 11.3. After reading up online I figured setting up 11.3 on a new flash drive,b booting and then loading my config should work.
That is not working.
I was able to create a new bootable 11.3 usb and boot into freenas on the system but I end up getting an...

Hello,
I just migrated 2 NAS from XigmaNAS to FreeNAS!

NAS1 (32GB RAM)
System drive: 160 GB HDD @ SATA
FreeNAS Installation DVD created 3 Partitions (Boot, System and SWAP I assume)

NAS2 (32GB RAM)
System drive: 120 GB SSD @ USB 3.0
FreeNAS Installation DVD created 2 Partitions (Boot & System) - an SSD @ USB3 should be fast enough for a SWAP-Partition, there is no SATA Port free

According to the Fact that I can't create any Pools NAS2cannot create a Swap-Partition on...

Hi! i'm relatively new to Freenas, and i'm looking into getting a Freenas mini E+ to run my media server off of. my question is, i didn't configure my server very well to start with, and i don't know how to move the media files i have on the current media server to the new one when it comes time to set it up. would it be as simple as moving the drives to the new system? or do i have to re-configure it so i can make a backup of the files to move to the new system? any advice that can be...

HI everybody,

I have a fresh installation of TrueNAS and wanted to use the virtual machine feature.
The first try to install this VM was okay, but later on the VNC connection dropped and the VM was in a stale state.
I tried to stop the VM from the web ui, but unfortunatly got only an error and so the VM is not manageable... as it can't be stopped...

maybe does someone have some experience around the VM feature usage and this error?
See attached the error from the web ui, I get when I try...

2 days ago my 9 yr. old son unknowingly clicked on a popup from either one of those .io games or through Roblox somehow. I don't know exactly where it came from, but he clicked it and WHAM... all files on my computer, networked computers and my shared FreeNAS folders got locked/encrypted (*.locked extension) with the txt file that I took a snapshot of (attached). Luckily I almost immediately noticed because the movie I was watching on EMBY stopped playing - because those files got nailed...

Hey guys, I'm really new to FreeNAS. I've had a few classes in Linux (mostly tch and bash) and loved Linux so I decided to go with FreeNAS to set up a home server for my movie collection using Plex instead of using a Windows Server. I see that a lot of people like to point to places to self-educate for answers to questions (I do like this) and have googled as much as I can, but am still ignorant and now am posting.

Replacing both devices in boot pool

Morning,

As I had several occasions of the infamous messages "Boot pool status is ONLINE: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An attempt was made to correct the error. Applications are unaffected.. " I would like to replace to the faulting USB disk, but I am sure both are somehow not healthy anymore. I have two (see below) identical USB disks, that I want to replace. After reading...

The usefulness of ECC (if we can't assess it's working)?

Given that ECC functionality depends on several components working well together (e.g. cpu, mobo, mem) there are many things that can go wrong resulting in a user detectable lack of ECC support.

However, it's also far too easy to get a false positive for ECC functionality. This might well mean that a large percentage of all the ECC 'enabled' systems in the industry are actually not, either DOA or over time.

What I am worried about is the lack of reliable way of testing ECC functionality in...
