Dataset encryption

I´m quit new to truenas Core 12 but using freenas since version 9.10 and currently on the latest 11 version.
Just playing with truenas 12 and dataset enryption.
is there some documnetation how it shall work and how in connection with shares?

Will there be regular Beta release updates? If so, is there a set release schedule? When can we expect the next update?

I am keen to update from FreeNAS 11.3-U3.2, but if there is a new update about to be released, I would prefer to wait for that

Replication dies with an error

Hello,
I am trying to 'pull' a dataset from another local linux server. Unfortunately, freenas gives an error after about 1.5 TB of transfer.

Code:
Replication "tank/stuff - tank/backup/stuff_daily" failed: zettarepl: zfs send PID is 3623350 internal error: Invalid argument Abort trap (core dumped)..


I have tried to pull twice, but both times ended up with this error. Any idea what is the issue?

I am trying to setup a replication task from freeNAS 11.3-U3.2 to a GhostBSD (20.04) pool.
The freeNAS system cannot see the pool on the GhostBSD computer. I can ssh
both ways to each computer from the command line without entering a password.
When setting the destination computer I ger CallError [EFAULT] AuthenticationException
('Authentication Failed'). I can PULL from the GhostBSD system but not PUSH from
freeNAS. I believe the steup is broken on freeNAS. The documentation is sparse in...

Lots of pkg upgrade processes

Yesterday I start getting alerts about a large number of processes from nagios running in a Jail. Again this morning over 1000 pkg upgrade processes. The server is running FreeNAS-11.3-U1 with Jail running 11.3-RELEASE-p7. I can see all the processes and kill from the Jail. How could I determine the cause? I was not able to find anything related to pkg in the system log. We haven't made any changes since way before this started happening as you...

Приветствую.
Поставил 11.3-U3.2
Система запускается, пишет, что можно зайти на веб морду по таким то ip
Ввожу адрес в браузере, вижу чудесную рыбку и всё, дальше загрузка не идёт.
Логотип в браузере загружается подозрительно долго.
Что с этим делать?

Резервирования под ZFS

Чисто консультативный момент. Уже несколько систем запустил, и тут вдруг задумался, правильно ли я делаю...

При создании pool делаю дефолтное резервирование 20%, на примере SSD 960Gb pool создается примерно 722 GiB.

Дальше создаю zvol чтоб отдать по iSCSI, и тут тоже резервирование просит 20%, тоже даю, получаю на выходе объем примерно 577 GiB.

Все правильно, или в каком-то месте не нужно делать это резервирование ? а то реально я понимаю, что от массива использование получается грубо...

11.3 to 12.0-BETA Jails upgrade and devfs rulesets

After updating to 12.0-BETA most of my jails do not start anymore.

As a first naive approach I first updated one of the jails from the GUI and then tried to upgrade it without success.

Using the CLI
Code:
iocage upgrade
command I learned that I first had to fetch the new 12.1 release. Actually 12.1 should work because TrueNAS 12.0-BETA should work with all 12.x releases.
After some minor errors the upgrade procedure ended and starting the jail resulted in an error referring to...

Errors when installing plugins

Hello,

I've been trying to install my first set of plugins with FreeNAS 11.3, and I keep running into one of two errors:

When I try using NAT or DHCP, i get the following error:

This error occurs with a whole host of plugins (my goal is to get mineOS and plex up and running, but I tried a couple and got the same results.)

When I specify a static IP, I get a little further, I think, and see the following:

VM management on web ui

HI everybody,

I have a fresh installation of TrueNAS and wanted to use the virtual machine feature.
The first try to install this VM was okay, but later on the VNC connection dropped and the VM was in a stale state.
I tried to stop the VM from the web ui, but unfortunatly got only an error and so the VM is not manageable... as it can't be stopped...

maybe does someone have some experience around the VM feature usage and this error?

Привет, я тут новенький
И смотрю за вопросы про non-ECC тут бьют, ну не то что бьют, но не любят.
А у меня как раз память простая.

И я подумал, ну включу эту проверку, посмотрю, вроде производительность сильно не падает.
Но возникли вопросы, как правильно это сделать.
То есть вроде бы нужно поставить флажок

0x10 ZFS_DEBUG_MODIFY Check for illegally modified ARC buffers

Но подскажите, как правильно это сделать и будет ли это работать на обычном ядре, а то как-то странно написано...

Add directory to periodic snapshot/replication

I have periodic snapshot for my pool v1 that is replicated to another freenas box. I've made some changes to nextcloud storage using @danb35 nextcloud script. My current backup has the db and files directory but not the config and themes directory.
1) If my snapshot is for my entire pool v1 recursively, why did the config and theme directory not get added automatically to the replication?
2) How do I add the config and theme directory to the periodic snapshot/replication...

NTFS Disk to import

Hello,

I did read the guide there :
https://www.ixsystems.com/documentation/freenas/11.3-U3.2/storage.html#importing-a-disk
The guide says that it will create a one time import. But actually i seems that it will move the data from the NTFS to the ZFS drives already mounted.
I am running the latest v11.3 of FreeNAS, is it possible like in many linux system to mount the drive to read it in FreeNAS and then I would copy the data to ZFS drives...

i3-4150, 16gb ram, 4 x 3 TiB WD red cmr drives, gigabit network
Oh boy do I need help. My setup was working fine until recently. Now I can’t access my data. Looked into the shell and to my amazement all my folders are set to chmod 000, all hyphens. Same for all my data files. Tried to chmod everything to 640, actually I’d be happy with anything but 000. I have no idea how my permissions got unset. But the shell will not allow me to do a chmod. How can this disaster be fixed, or maybe I...

Hi there,

Here is a straight to the point guide I write because I feel that the others are confusing. This one should work as it even includes the UEFI Shell to boot from.
Here is a quick overview of the steps - First make a USB key boot in Freedos, second Drop the files in the USB and Third boot in UEFI shell and run the commands.
You might have a look at my sources if you need to update - see bottom of the post.

This seems really odd and I can't figure out what to do. I have several iocage jails running fine and then after a router reboot, Tautulli would not let me access the webui. I found that the jail couldn't start. I deleted the jail and tried to create it again but it kept having the same issue, I went down the path of upgrading from 11.2 to 11.3 U3.2 and also upgraded all my jails (thankfully most went smooth with the exception of transmission which took some time to fix). I have FreeNAS 11.3-U3.2 running on two HP Proliant Microservers. I also run Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Sabnzbd and Transmission plug-ins.

I am quite keen to upgrade to the TrueNAS Core 12 Beta train as soon as I can, but I am obviously a bit weary about rushing in if there are problems. I have been checking the forum since the Beta was released last week looking for feedback on the upgrade. So far the only issue I have seen is with a Plex Server installation that sounds a non-standard...
