Problem running any update command in Jail

I was trying to update my Emby-server just running a simple pkg install as i normally do. I kept getting errors stating: Failed to create temporary file, file already exists.

I thought it was odd so I went ahead and just created a brand new jail and ran a simple "pkg update && pkg upgrade" and I get the same error. Not sure what is going on. I attached a screen shot of whats happening. Not sure if something is stuck in temp somewhere?

Info about: mail notifications- Webgui setup

Good day everyone!

Since installing and trying out some features on my freshly build Nas I've come across features that im not quite sure how to change or make sure if they work.

For example the mail notifications setup.

As written in the Freenas documents I've setup the Root email for notifications.
While i do receive test emails i do not seem to receive anything else.
Like receiving an email if somebody entered the wrong password as described in the documents.

Hi everyone,

Sorry to skip the introduction, but I have a frustrating problem that needs fixing. Took me a while to get in here, trying to sign up for the forums through chrome somehow did not work. Hey team,

Recently I have been getting a red alert on da1 drive. I do have a replacement drive but I am scared to swap the drive out since I am only raidz1 (media server) and I have heard some horror stories. Below is my smartctrl -a output and a snip it from my daily security email.

Crashplan v4.8 not updating/working

Hi dear loved community,

I'm casting a line out there to see if anyone was hit by the mandatory update from Crashplan v4.7 to v4.8 recently.

The new version requires a new version of the Java runtime now v1.8 (previously v1.7). The new JVM causes a lot of problem. I've attempted many different solutions (in place update, new Jail with v4.8, using OpenJDK8 instead of the built-in Sun JRE...) none of which are working.

I know this is early but know that Code42 is dropping support for v4.7...

I have a NAS that is running extremely slow. When I transfer data using my Windows 10 computer i get around 5 - 10Mbps. It is mainly used for movies and I have Plex media plug in set up. I have it plugged directly into the router with a CAT6 cable. Originally I thought it was the switch that I was using but that has been removed and now I am kind of puzzled as too why it is running so slow! If some one knows a way or 2, to run speed test on a NAS, that be much appreciated if they show me so...

Plugins (Plex) no longer working

After a number of moves and several months of being offline, I'm working to get my Plex server back up and running and have having major issues. Everything worked beautifully when I last powered down. Now that I am back and running I can't seem to get the Plex plugin updated or working.

I've tried Updating from 9.3 to 9.10.
Rolling back to 9.3.
Restarting the jail.
Rebuilding the jail.
Deleting and reinstalling the plugin.

Nothing seems to work. Based on some forum posts I saw that...

Greetings - My name is Chuck, been poking around looking at configurations and such, but have needed a good solution for file storage for a while, and FreeNAS has always been around, just never go around to making the leap, and with a pile of 5TB drives and misc. storage sitting around, time to simplify and get going!

Already looking at a few server boards I've seen good results with, and trying to build something fairly priced, and get some of these triplets of drives I have a better home...

TL;DR - What HBA would you suggest for a HP DL320G6 that will be running FreeNAS 9.10, connected to x2 MSA60s, with x12 1TB drives (24 total), with room to expand to 2TB, 3TB, and 4TB drives in the future as well as adding potentially a 3rd and 4th MSA60?

Has my drive failed?

I have a HP N40L , 8gb ram running freenas 8.3 with two 2tb drives running as a zfs mirror. I set this up about 5 years ago and have never had any issues. I use it for personal use at home to store photos, movies, music etc.

I noticed the other day i got an alert saying some corruption was detected so i ran a zpool status -v and i got the output in the attachment.

My question is has one of my drives failed? If so how would i know which one?

Ho assemblato un paio di settimane un NAS pensando di poterlo utilizzare come anche come "host" per un paio di macchine virtuali. Il mio setup attuale è questo:
CPU: Intel E3 1241v3 (supporta VT-x)
Motherboard: Supermicro X10SLH-F (ovviamente anche questa supporta il VT-x)
RAM: 4x Kingston KVR16E11/8 (8GB ECC 1600MHz)
Storage: Non penso sia importante in questo caso, comunque 4x WD Red 4TB ed un SSD Samsung 850 EVO 500GB

So i've been trying to install Plex Media Server for a while now ... I went to containers, selected Docker Containers, Create and then plex. First off I tried with the standard settings. That did'nt work - I can't access the webinterface. So I tried different port configurations and after the 3rt attempt, I realised, that FreeNAS is only adding the port 1900 (UDP) and not the other ones. So I deleted every port except for 32400. How to install MiniDLNA into a FreeNAS 9.3 or 9.10.x.

Until FreeNAS 9.3 or later comes up with a plugin for MiniDLNA (this could be a very long time or never) the user has two options for simple DLNA support:
1) Install and use the Plex Plugin which also has a DLNA service.
2) Manually install MiniDLNA into a jail.

I'm currently running a single vdev mirror using two 4TB drives. My use case is mainly media serving and moving files around, which is a workload with queue depth 1. Mainly over SMB, but also one or two iSCSI targets.

Previously I was maxing out my 1 Gbps network, and has since upgraded to point-to-point 10 Gbps between the server and my workstation. This works great when reading files cached in ARC, but my use case doesn't see much benefit from this most of the time. Perhaps it's my...

What´s the best way to do backup FreeNAS data?
I saw some examples using Crashplan but always to send data from another computer to FreeNAS machine.
This is a nice idea for my data at home, but in the work I would like to have something automatically for all the storage.

swap space usage

Hi,

some time ago I read on the forum somewhere* that a FreeNAS box should not be using its swap space.

Could anybody clarify why that is? I don't really see why the system should not make use of the swap space which is part of its virtual memory after all.
Also is this statement to be considered absolute ("It will never use it. If it does, something is wrong.") or is it more like a rule-of-thumb ("Ideally it would never use it, but it could happen.").

So what I'm tying to find out is...
