DHCP Disabled on Non-LAGG Interface when LAGG is Established

Hello All,

I am having an issue where when I setup a LEGG for interfaces em0 and em1 with a static IP Address, DHCP for interface re0 is disabled. This is occurring every time I attempt to setup the LAGG interface. The odd part is this is happening to an interface that is not involved in the LAGG group at all.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be very welcome!

ESXi rsync?

Folks,

It seems that after awhile I'd make up my mind and decided to go all in on ESXi. Only kept one bare metal for my back-up FreeNAS.

I'm now planning to implement a script to shutdown the VM and copy all files to one of my NAS. Tried scp and even within ESXi is pretty slow. tried sftp and, of course, if slow as hell - although with bitvise is my method of choice for small stuff.

Do you know of any pre-copiled rsync for ESXi 6.5? I'm running 6.7 but I bet would also work.

Encrypt existing Datasets

hi,
when I set up my TrueNAS server I did not encrypt my datasets, thinking it would take too much performance. I now tested it with a new dataset and found out its really not too bad, and now I want to encrypt my existing (child-)datasets.
Theres still 60% free space in my pool so I was thinking of creating new encrypted datasets with a _enc suffix in the name, copy the files over, removing the unecrypted datasets and somehow renaming the new encrypted ones.

I need help I installed a new NIC and now I cant get it up

I had my new box up and running but I added a new 2 port Intel NIC and now I cant get networking up at all on any interfaces. I created a LAG for the NIC and I disabled the onboard NIC. Anyway now I can get any networking to work at all. Is there something I can do from Shell to like clear any Network Interfaces and get rebuild or something?

Bind Required with Virtual Machines

I'm running SCALE (the latest nightly) and I've had this issue for the last few nightlies where, when I go to create a virtual machine, it tells me that "Bind is required," but then gives me nothing to bind to.

I have unused network interfaces so I don't think that is the issue, I've been trying to deploy a VM for the past few days and haven't been able to do so.
I'm wondering if this is a bug within SCALE itself, or if this is just user error?

Strange Behaviour

I just finished the installation of TrueNAS-12.0-U2.1.

I was able to successfully join it to the domain by using the Active Directory Services.

The problem is, as soon i create a pool and perform a restart, the system says this:

Active Directory - FAULTED

To bring it back to Healthy i need to remove the pool and restart the system.

Any clues what can be causing this behavior?

Cannot Access Shares from windows

I have FreeNas 11.2-U6 installed and using it as a Plex Server (using the built in PlexPass Service).

I was able to access the datasets from my windows PCs up until two days ago when I restarted all of my equipment. When I restarted the FreeNas box, the SMB service did not start. Mini XL+ only sees 2 of 8 drives. What to check?

I bought a Mini XL+ shell and installed 8x8TB WD Red Plus drives in it. After powering it on for the first time (which happened the moment I plugged in the power cord) the system seems to be identifying only 2 of the 8 drives installed, in addition to the OS and L2ARC drives. There are no lights on one of the bays and during boot I see a series of ATA errors. See attached photo. Also, during boot, there's this horrible, staccato, screeching and scratching sound that puts me in mind of a head...

Mini XL+ only sees 2 of 8 drives. What to check?

Disable http and TLS 1.0

i am a newbie here, please how can I disable HTTP and TLS 1.0 (either by CLI or GUI) ?
i am aware traffic could've redirected from HTTP to HTTPS, I would like to disable HTTP completely if possible
security guys also complained about the following being open:
TCP/22 OpenSSH server 7.9

I have just upgraded to 11.3 - U5 .. but not sure if that automatically solves my problem

any help will be appreciated

Problems with Upgrade to TrueNas Core

We are attempting to update a system from FreeNAS 11.3-U4 to TrueNAS CORE 12.0-U1. The download runs as it should and the install seems to complete. However, the system did not automatically reboot. When looking in System>Boot we can see 12.0-U1 listed with reboot as the action. We performed a manual reboot. At this point we cannot get the system to boot. The system seems to be hanging with some sort of failure. These are the last few lines from the boot screen:

/usr/local/bin/sqlite3...

First post, I've searched the forums and so far no clues as to what's going on with my server. I did manage to pick up on the pertinent information requested for similar issues and will include them below. How to add 2nd zvol to existing VM with Windows 2012 server

While installing MSSQL on the 2012 server VM, it failed because the sector size of the VM disk was not 4096. In order to avoid reinstallation of the 2012 server, I figurred adding a second zvol with the right sectorsize and attach it to the VM. Creating the 2nd zvol was no problem, I added a new disk to the VM in FreeNAS, but I don't see the disk in WIndows. What do I need to do to make this 2nd zvol available inside WIndows. Thx

Hi everyone,

I am planing to use my current PC as a home NAS, the hardware is:

Case 6-Bay NAS Case
CPU AMD Ryzen 3 Pro 2200G
MB Asrock B450M Pro4
RAM Samsung 16GB ECC U-DIMM x2
HDD 8TB Toshiba MG06ACA800E x6
NIC Mellanox MNPA19-XTR ConnectX-2 EN 10G NIC on PCIe 2.0 x4
Boot Intel Optane M10 16GB

The current plan is to make a RAIDZ2 array using the 6x 8TB HDD but the MB has only 4 SATA, I have to buy a SAS HBA PCIe Card.

HPE Microserver Gen10

I'm thinking of upgrading my FreeNAS system to a Gen10 HPE Microserver because I feel that upgrading from version 9.10 on my current machine is a bad idea or more likely not possible. I don't actually have any good reason to upgrade because what I have now suits my purposes just fine. I guess I'm just wanting to build something new.

If anybody is using one of the G10s, any comments would be appreciated. If there is a reason or reasons why one of the G10s is a really bad choice let me know...

TrueNAS SCALE - Migration from CORE 12-U2

Hello,
With the release of SCALE 21.02-1 Alpha, I am trying to "upgrade" (migrate) from 12.0-U2.
After trying the import my ZFS pool, I had to reboot by server.
On the next reboot, the console is stuck on
“A Start job is running for import ZFS pools (7h 1min 38s / no limit)” and counting...

My pool is around 60TB...

Anything I should do?
How long should I wait?

Hi guys-We a large 500 TB pool with 4x 8 TB nvme cache drives. From what I can see with zpool iostat -v, they are barely touched. What optimizations can I do to force more items to be placed into the read cache for faster repeat access? We are mostly storing large photos and videos. Thank you in advance
