Hallo zusammen,

ich bin neu hier im Forum und freue mich auf ein interessanten austausch. Ich bin schon viele Jahre in der FreeNAS und TrueNAS Welt unterwegs und betreibe ca. 10 Maschinen.

Nun zu meinem Problem. Mein TrueNAS Core bekommt eine kernel panic wenn ich über die 10G Leitung Backups von Proxmox starte. Nach Analyse habe ich festgestellt das es nicht passiert wenn ich die beiden Jails ausschalte! Die kernel panic kommt neu bei laufenden Jails. Auf der Konsole sieht man diese...

Swap becoming full with unused RAM

Hello,

I have a problem with one of my truenas box. Swap usage is increasing and after a few days I have to reboot because my swap become full. While my swap is increasing and become full, my RAM usage is still only at about 50% (16/32GB free) according to htop. Any idea what's wrong?

Borked my GitHub repo

I thought I knew what I needed to know about git--apparently I knew just enough to be dangerous. I inadvertently messed up the repo for my Nextcloud script (https://github.com/danb35/freenas-iocage-nextcloud) this morning when I incorrectly set its URL as the remote-url for a different repo. Hillarity did not ensue. The result of that was that six different commits from the wrong repo were merged into this one.

Not a problem, I thought--too bad I can't revert those commits...

Wake On LAN (WOL) does not work with Realtek RTL8111E

I have an Mother Board ASRock FM2A85X-ITX with Realtek RTL8111E NIC. The datasheet reports that this NIC supports Wake On LAN (WOL).
WOL is enabled in the BIOS and this is the result from the shell:

Wasted space in UI

I find that in several places the UI has a lot of wasted or unused space that could be made use of to make for a better experience.
And (unless this is some weird glitch) the worst is the Jails UI.

The most obvious issue is only about half the screen is used for the actual jails table, the rest is a giant blank spot.
There is other issues like the header of the table presenting the duplicate information and the table configuration controls taking up more...

Plex NVIDIA Gpu Passthrough SCALE 21.02

Hi, I have just updated to 21.02 and I tried to setup a Plex container with GPU passthrough with the WebUI. I have two GPUs in my system, I tryed to pass my GTX 1070 (which is detected on the debian host) to the Plex container but hw transcoding just doesn't work.
Any help?

I wonder if anyone can help with this strange fault I've been having with Freenas 11.3-U5. I've attached a screenshot of what happens around 1 in every 5 reboots. I've been trying to figure this out for about 2 weeks now and guess I spent about 50 hours trying to find hardware faults, including multiple passes of Memtest with ECC enabled and disabled. Needless to say, I can't find anything so far.

Here's my hardware:

1 x Supermicro H8SML-7F motherboard
1 x AMD FX-6300 CPU
4 x Kingston 8GB...

Is It Time To Move From FreeNAS 11 To TrueNAS 12?

I have a small home NAS (used primarily for SMB shares) currently running FreeNAS 11.3-U5.

I would appreciate thoughts on the maturity of TrueNAS 12 and if people feel it is now sufficiently stable to upgrade to TrueNAS 12.0-U2.1.

Any comments or advice on this upgrade would also be appreciated.

I updated the Plex pkg and noticed this note:

If you have a supported Intel GPU, you can leverage hardware
accellerated encoding/decoding in Plex Media Server on FreeBSD 12.0+.

The requirements are as follows:

* Install multimedia/drm-kmod: e.g., pkg install drm-fbsd12.0-kmod

* Enable loading of kernel module on boot: sysrc kld_list+="drm"
** If Plex will run in a jail, you must load the module outside the jail!

* Load the kernel module now: kldload...

I've never seen this before, but going to the web UI on TrueNAS 12.0-U2.1 has suddenly broken for me. I've tried from 3 different browsers, on two different computers, with a 'private window' and without, and it always just shows the message:

"Connecting to TrueNAS ... Make sure the TrueNAS system is powered on and connected to the network"

My ssh access still works. Is there a command I can kick the web UI with?

Hi guys - Long time FreeNAS/TrueNAS user; thanks for the fantastic product. I'm building out a new NAS for my home lab and am wondering if now is the time to switch to TrueNAS SCALE? (Non-essential data, so fine using an ALPHA for awhile.) Or will TrueNAS Core continue to be developed? I love the efficiencies of BSD and don't have a need for Kubernetes/Docker, just curious what to expect in the near future.

I grew tired of my old QNap home Nas throwing and error on bay-2 constantly so put together a nas with an older motherboard.

I have 6 3Tb drives in a pool with ZFS1 and a hot spare. One of the drive errored out, the hot spare took over. However, when I went to replace the drive the new drive appears to have attached ok, the system completed the re-sliver however the pool now shows as unhealthy and the hotspare still shows as part of the pool, what have I done wrong here?

Windows Share Permission issue driving me nuts

I am having an ongoing issue with a windows share not giving me the permissions that I need to use it. I have two other threads on this and people have tried to help me, but I still have issues. I have tried setting the permissions both from the GUI and using setfacl. I still do not have the settings right.

Things that I can do:
  • I can copy files to the share
  • I can read files on the share

Things that I can never do:
  • Run an exe from the share
  • Open files...

Cloud Sync Task: include empty folders

Hello,

I just set up some cloud sync tasks with one of them being a push-sync.
Sadly it is not syncing empty folders.

Browsing the web I found this feature request: https://jira.ixsystems.com/browse/NAS-103153

For the time being is there any workaround I could use so empty folders are included?
