Hot spare kicked in now trying to reset things.

Drive dropped out and spare kicked in I assumed a dead drive. Ordered another and burned it in and went to replace it to find a cable had poped off (yes, I did check first but hard to see anything in a Node 304) Re seated the cable and all drives came online. However I'm trying to sort out how to get the spare re-set as a spare and If I'm not mistaken the pick below shows two drives designated as spares now.

Appreciate any help on sorting it out.

Hey guys,

Been a while since my last post. Long time FreeNAS user here. So, had my 45 bay JBOD Supermicro 847 goin a while until about a year ago it broke before I flew to Seoul on business.

The story is simple. It's always had a red light and warning buzzer because something seemed to always be up with one of the PDB slots. As you may know the SM 847 has redundant psu. I have a pair of 1400w golds in there. It ran for a long time with the buzzer with both PSU in the PDB, one amber one...

Offline pool

Ok well, Here I go again..

Another issue.

One of my pools have decided to go OFFLINE on me now and when I look into the drives area it shows this :

BOOT pool is just what it says.. for the OS
and Jukebox5 has data on it.. BUT missing is Jukebox4. It shows like this:

I do not know what the MFID is for Jukebox4 so I have NO IDEA what one of these marked "Unused" is the drive.

How do I :
1) Figure out what drive it...

Move disks between two Freenas system

Firstly, thanks to all that contribute on this Forum -its superhelpful.

As per my signature, I have 2 Freenas systems.
System 2 was where I started.
System 1 is what I have just put together.
I want to use disks (with their data) from System 2 (2 disk Mirror) and use them in System 1 (as the only disks in the system). The system 2 disk at this point is simply a small test drive.

Given both are Freenas, is there a simple way to 'swap' the physical drives and have the System 1 disks operate...

Plex NVIDIA Gpu Passthrough SCALE 21.02

Hi, I have just updated to 21.02 and I tried to setup a Plex container with GPU passthrough with the WebUI. I have two GPUs in my system, I tryed to pass my GTX 1070 (which is detected on the debian host) to the Plex container but hw transcoding just doesn't work.
Any help?

For script development/ESXi I have TrueNAS running in a VMware Workstation 15 VM. See screenshots below for the current setup.

Problems with P420 HBA mode

Hello together I have a problem..... and my P420 is having problems. Every time I want to create a pool, the system hangs. And the card is no longer recognised. The P420 is switched to HBA mode and can mount the hard drives. But I suspect that it is no longer working properly. I have been trying for several days to get this to work again, but without success. Now the question is, how should I proceed? Order an HBA and plug it in and that's it or try again? The card has FW:8.32 and is...

RV Server Building - Unraid user looking at an AFA

Hello,

I'm an unraid user who has dabbled with freenas a few times. I'm looking at making a plex server for my RV, but I want to do an AFA. SO I'm thinking the best thing to do is use FreeNAS for this particular use case.

Can I use the freenas server as my Media Player? Will plex be able to pick up a gpu and act as the media player as well as the server in this case?

Does anyone here do anything like this and if so, how did you accomplish a 100% offline experience.

To start, my system:
AsRock B450M Pro 4 Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 2700X CPU
32GB 3200MHz RAM
LSI SAS 9210 IT-Mode (Passed Through to TrueNAS)
3x8TB Toshiba X300 HDDs (Connected to SAS Card)
256GB HP EX920 NVMe SSD

Metal OS:
ESXi v6.7.0 Update 3
Install ISO was modified to include functioning Realtek Drivers, and NVME Driver from 6.5.0 (6.7 did not support my NVME by default)

VMs: (All VM Boot Drives are on the 256GB NVME Drive)
TrueNAS - 4 CPU Cores - 16GB RAM
Linux - 4 CPU Cores - 2GB RAM -...

Estoy realizando BackUp del contenido desde un servidor en internet a mi TrueNAS mediante una tarea de Cloud Sync con credenciales FTP PULL COPY, y en realidad lo hace bien hasta llegar a un número determinado de archivos: 7998 e indica un 100% completado. El log que envía es el siguiente:

Hallo zusammen,
ich versuche TrueNAS-12.0-U2.1 auf einem ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 (8GB) zu erstellen.
Leider sieht das Dashboard nach dem booten sehr komisch (siehe Bild) aus.
Ich denke, da fehlt was bei der Installation, aber was?
Hat jemand ev. einen hilfreichen Tip.

Hello all, I've got a degraded array I'm trying to sort our and I'm not sure how to proceed. I had a controller failure which caused a bunch of write errors that resulted in Checksum Errors. I've done a ton of Scrubs but I can't figure out what files are actually bad. This is what my status looks like.

We currently have a VMware iSCSI POOL thats pretty critical to us. We learned a couple days ago of what not to do with our storage system the hard way so we turned to the boards. We think we're smarter at this point and trying to re architect it starting with this POOL.

Hi all,

I apologize if this has previously been answered but I haven't been able to find the answer. I need to increase the capacity of my FreeNAS. I am currently running a 6 disk RAIDZ2 pool and will be adding 2 more drives to make it a 8 disk RAIDZ2. I know that this cannot be done without destroying the current pool and creating a new 8 disk RAIDZ2 pool. I have a backup of all the data in preparation for this task.

I've got a fixed budget for my build, which is limiting my options, and was wondering if the following was possible... I have 2 8TB drives available to me from a friend, free of charge. Am I able to use these in conjunction with 4 6TB drives I will be purchasing to create a 6 drive pool in RAIDZ-2?

I understand that if this is possible it will almost certainly mean the pool will treat the 8TB drives as if they were 6TB resulting in ~17TB usable storage, but I'm just wanting to make sure...

Hi all

I'm running a TrueNAS 12 system and I would like to replicate some zfs snaphosts to a jail hosted on another TrueNAS server of a friend of mine.

He has created a jail and a dedicated dataset for me, I can see it in the jail, everything looks fine.

But when I use zfs send/zfs receive, I get the following message "cannot receive new filesystem stream: invalid backup stream".

I have spent a lot of time searching the internet and I wonder if the feature large_dnode is not the issue...

Swap becoming full with unused RAM

Hello,

I have a problem with one of my truenas box. Swap usage is increasing and after a few days I have to reboot because my swap become full. While my swap is increasing and become full, my RAM usage is still only at about 50% (16/32GB free) according to htop. Any idea what's wrong?

I know this is a common question but how do I know if my drive need replaced?

I have 10x3tb drives in raidz 2 and i am getting the below alert. When I run a SMART test it comes back with SUCCESS.
Do I need to replace this drive or do I need to run something to repair bad sectors?

I updated the Plex pkg and noticed this note:
