FreeNAS-11.3-U4.1 - Exotic behaviour of Acrobat tmp files on smb shares

Dear all,

I do struggle with exotic file rights behaviour which acrobat reader do generate if you edit eg. comment a pdf file and save it.
It then creates a file called eg. acrolock4976.2.3798144383.tmp
See attached the screenshot and cmd line shows:

----------+ 1 user group 0 Sep 8 17:27 acrolock4976.2.3798144383.tmp

It is not possible to delete or change the rights of this file not with the owner and even not with one of the admin. smd users!

Move disks between two Freenas system

Firstly, thanks to all that contribute on this Forum -its superhelpful.

As per my signature, I have 2 Freenas systems.
System 2 was where I started.
System 1 is what I have just put together.
I want to use disks (with their data) from System 2 (2 disk Mirror) and use them in System 1 (as the only disks in the system). The system 2 disk at this point is simply a small test drive.

Given both are Freenas, is there a simple way to 'swap' the physical drives and have the System 1 disks operate...

I grew tired of my old QNap home Nas throwing and error on bay-2 constantly so put together a nas with an older motherboard.

I have 6 3Tb drives in a pool with ZFS1 and a hot spare. One of the drive errored out, the hot spare took over. However, when I went to replace the drive the new drive appears to have attached ok, the system completed the re-sliver however the pool now shows as unhealthy and the hotspare still shows as part of the pool, what have I done wrong here?

I'm desperately trying to install nexcloud through the plugins. But each time it gives me this error: Error: Jail: nextcloud-jail has a missing configuration, please check that the dataset is mounted. I don't understand where my mistake is.

Cloud backup to an already created google crypt drive

Hi everyone,

I already currently have an google drive (teams), that is encrypted, but i am struggling to set up a sync job with the existing crypt.

I added the normal encrypted drive with cloud credentials, when i set up a sync i do the following:
Encryption Password - password =.... section from my existing rclone.conf
Encryption Salt - password2 = section from my existing rclone.conf

If i browse to the unencrypted drive i dont see anything new, and if i check drive.google.com i do see...

Mini XL+ only sees 2 of 8 drives. What to check?

I bought a Mini XL+ shell and installed 8x8TB WD Red Plus drives in it. After powering it on for the first time (which happened the moment I plugged in the power cord) the system seems to be identifying only 2 of the 8 drives installed, in addition to the OS and L2ARC drives. There are no lights on one of the bays and during boot I see a series of ATA errors. See attached photo. Also, during boot, there's this horrible, staccato, screeching and scratching sound that puts me in mind of a head...

Mini XL+ only sees 2 of 8 drives. What to check?

Moving Plex from Core to Scale

I am working on testing everything I need out of plex on Scale and once I figure out the PCIE Nvidia transcoding I plan on moving on from Core to Scale. I share my plex with a bunch of people and I have a ton of movies and TV series that I really dont want to loose where i have watched till. I know to make a back up of my current Plex i need to use this line
cp -Ripv -f /mnt/Plugins-VM/iocage/jails/Plex/root/Plex\ Media\ Server/ /mnt/Back-Ups/Plex_Backup/Plex\ Media\ Server/

but to move it...

Hi all

I'm running a TrueNAS 12 system and I would like to replicate some zfs snaphosts to a jail hosted on another TrueNAS server of a friend of mine.

He has created a jail and a dedicated dataset for me, I can see it in the jail, everything looks fine.

But when I use zfs send/zfs receive, I get the following message "cannot receive new filesystem stream: invalid backup stream".

I have spent a lot of time searching the internet and I wonder if the feature large_dnode is not the issue...

Hello everyone,
I'm planning to build a NAS for my company to backup RAW video footage. Footages will be 4K 8-bit. Individual size varying from maybe 15-25 GB.

My requirements are:
  • At least 30 TB of Final Storage.
  • Fast Read/Write Speed as we plan to dump at least 150-200 GB of data every day.

So now my queries:
  • Will the following specification for the system works: i5-10400, Compatible Low-Mid Range Mobo with 64 GB Non-ECC RAM, 128 GB Boot SSD, 10 x 8TB HDD...

Dear all,

I am experiencing a possibly rather broken system (even though most things still seem to work), and I would really appreciate input on what is going on and what steps I should take.
I am not even sure if all the errors below are related and am grateful for any help.

Active Directory / SMB Broken after system reboot

Hi,

I have had my new Truenas box working for about a month on the latest version. Yesterday I did a reboot and when it rebooted the active directory status is showing "FAILED". I have tried rebooting again and still the same thing, the only solution I have found is to go to the active directory tab,
  1. untick enable
  2. click save
  3. refresh the page
  4. click enable
  5. click advanced
  6. click leave domain
  7. click save to leave the domain
  8. refresh the page
  9. enter all the...

We currently have a VMware iSCSI POOL thats pretty critical to us. We learned a couple days ago of what not to do with our storage system the hard way so we turned to the boards. We think we're smarter at this point and trying to re architect it starting with this POOL.

Now, this could be a hardware issue, but if it is, its the greatest coincidence in history.

This machine has been running fine for about 12 months now, and this is the first time I've had reboots.

This time it took all of the VM's with it as the NFS crashed and I needed to reboot everything again to get it all back this morning (luckily this setup isn't in a DC miles away).
It seems the 10GB networking wasn't happy after its own reboot in the early hours this morning.

Where do I start...

Okay, so I have created my groups with my validated permissions and now am half way through my list of 45+ users. Very simply, all I am entering is their full name, truncated username, support email, and adding their corresponding group to the primary group selection. Now as I am halfway through entering the users I can no longer add any more. It gives this error error after submitting, so I press back look at the list and see the user still listed their. Thinking on my feet, I try deleting...

Not able to install any plugin (DNS Error)

Hello,

i tried the whole day to install plugins on a brand new TrueNAS 12.0 installation but every single plugin failed with:

Error: cp had a failure Exception: RuntimeError Message: DNS Exception: A DNS label is empty. pkg.FreeBSD.org could not be reached via DNS, check your network Partial plugin destroyed

Hi,

First of all, thank you for dropping by! I know forums can be a chore for those sharing knowledge to complete noobs, but I really appreciate that this community exists.

logs have date/time and hostname twice

Hey All,

I am running TrueNAS-12.0-U2.1 on an iX-4236P.

I am required to enable remote syslog. That part works fine, but I noticed some services (sshd, smbd_audit) log with a non-standard syslog line. The line has the date/time and hostname twice. The local logs have date/time and hostname twice as well. Here is an example:

I was reading the hardware recommendations guide, and it was talking about the Intel DC P3700.

TrueNAS SMB Recycle Bin not working

Hi All.
I'm changed system from Freenas 11-U7 to TrueNas 12.0. In previous version all working. In this version I have checked "Export Recycle Bin" but this not working. There directory not exists. I'm delete small test file but system not create directory ".recycled" like in previous version. I'm checked with ssh and Midnight Commander too. Is there a bug in Samba configuration?

Anyone help with this?
