Moving Plex from Core to Scale

I am working on testing everything I need out of plex on Scale and once I figure out the PCIE Nvidia transcoding I plan on moving on from Core to Scale. I share my plex with a bunch of people and I have a ton of movies and TV series that I really dont want to loose where i have watched till. I know to make a back up of my current Plex i need to use this line
cp -Ripv -f /mnt/Plugins-VM/iocage/jails/Plex/root/Plex\ Media\ Server/ /mnt/Back-Ups/Plex_Backup/Plex\ Media\ Server/

but to move it...

Plex NVIDIA Gpu Passthrough SCALE 21.02

Hi, I have just updated to 21.02 and I tried to setup a Plex container with GPU passthrough with the WebUI. I have two GPUs in my system, I tryed to pass my GTX 1070 (which is detected on the debian host) to the Plex container but hw transcoding just doesn't work.
Any help?

Slow iSCSI Read Performance

I have a TrueNAS system that acts as an iSCSI SAN for two ESXi hosts.
iSCSI network is 10Gb and segmented from data network. Have Jumbo Frames turned on. Not sure if it is working properly, I have a Mikrotik CRS305-1G-4S+IN and it is weird to configure jumbo frames.
TrueNAS Specs:
E3-1245 V2 (Hardly ever see it go above 5% usage, not sure if this is normal)
32GB ECC
2TBx12 drives. Drives are setup in mirrors and striped across 6 mirrors.
Truenas version 12.0 U2

I built a truenas server for our non-profit, see build details below. At some point the server had trouble booting, I now think it might be related after adding a VM or Jail. Most of the time the kernel panics on boot after being unable to start "ntpd". (see screenshots) I replaced the power supply thinking maybe it was a power issue, issue persists. I turned off AutoStart for the jail the last time it was booted successfully, so I am not sure it is jail related - although I had several...

I am currently running FreeNas 11.3-U5 and Windows 10 Version 20H2 (Build 19042.868). I have been using FreeNas for at least 8 years on a network with 4 Windows 10 systems without any issues around authentication. I believe that I started with FreeNas 9.X - can't remember the exact release. In any event, with upgrades/updates, both in Windows 10 and FreeNas, I started seeing authentication issues/challenges appearing. I used to have a relatively issues-less environment for the longest time...

Will there be a TrueNAS 13 based on FreeBSD 13? Or should I switch to SCALE?

Hi guys - Long time FreeNAS/TrueNAS user; thanks for the fantastic product. I'm building out a new NAS for my home lab and am wondering if now is the time to switch to TrueNAS SCALE? (Non-essential data, so fine using an ALPHA for awhile.) Or will TrueNAS Core continue to be developed? I love the efficiencies of BSD and don't have a need for Kubernetes/Docker, just curious what to expect in the near future.

I've got a fixed budget for my build, which is limiting my options, and was wondering if the following was possible... I have 2 8TB drives available to me from a friend, free of charge. Am I able to use these in conjunction with 4 6TB drives I will be purchasing to create a 6 drive pool in RAIDZ-2?

I understand that if this is possible it will almost certainly mean the pool will treat the 8TB drives as if they were 6TB resulting in ~17TB usable storage, but I'm just wanting to make sure...

Which SSD as boot device?

Hello,

I'm finally close to moving to TrueNAS, I just miss a boot device.

I'm using a USB stick in my current system (with Nas4Free, running since ~2015) but I am moving to an SSD as recommended here.

I've been browsing extensively on which SSD drive to pick, without being able to find an answer.
  1. It looks like 3D NAND and Marvell Controller don't play well.
  2. Same goes for having trim enabled on some models: issues arise.
Is it still the case for 1. and 2.?

Now, this could be a hardware issue, but if it is, its the greatest coincidence in history.

This machine has been running fine for about 12 months now, and this is the first time I've had reboots.

This time it took all of the VM's with it as the NFS crashed and I needed to reboot everything again to get it all back this morning (luckily this setup isn't in a DC miles away).
It seems the 10GB networking wasn't happy after its own reboot in the early hours this morning.

Where do I start...

Hey!

I have this setup:

HP DL380E G8
LSI 9207-8i HBA
Qlogic QLE2562 FC
64GB RAM

HDD:
3X HGST 6TB 4Kn
2x Seagate enterprise capacity 6TB 512e
2x Seagate EXOS 7E2 6TB 512e


Here is the problem:

I created a zvol and i connected via FC to an esxi host.

I tested with RDM and a VMFS datastore.

Monica Plugin fails to install

Hi all,

so i have trouble installing the Monica plugin for about 3-4 months now every so often i try installing again with no succes (dont ask why i think it would work eventually)
but now i have decided to ask around in the forum.
I attach the error message i receive every time it fails.
I had no problems with any other plugins so far.

I'm planning to build a NAS for my company to backup RAW video footage. Footages will be 4K 8-bit. Individual size varying from maybe 15-25 GB.

My requirements are:
  • At least 30 TB of Final Storage.

ich bin neu hier im Forum und freue mich auf ein interessanten austausch. Ich bin schon viele Jahre in der FreeNAS und TrueNAS Welt unterwegs und betreibe ca. 10 Maschinen.

Nun zu meinem Problem. Mein TrueNAS Core bekommt eine kernel panic wenn ich über die 10G Leitung Backups von Proxmox starte. Hi all,

I recently started getting this error and I'm really stuck on what to do to fix it.

Error: Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.

OS Version: TrueNAS-12.0-RELEASE
Jail Version: 12.2-RELEASE-p1
Plex Media Server Plexpass Version: 1.20.3.3483

Attached are the logs from Plex.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Active Directory / SMB Broken after system reboot

Hi,

I have had my new Truenas box working for about a month on the latest version. Yesterday I did a reboot and when it rebooted the active directory status is showing "FAILED". I have tried rebooting again and still the same thing, the only solution I have found is to go to the active directory tab,
  1. untick enable
  2. click save
  3. refresh the page
  4. click enable
  5. click advanced
  6. click leave domain
  7. click save to leave the domain
  8. refresh the page
  9. enter all the...

For script development/ESXi I have TrueNAS running in a VMware Workstation 15 VM. See screenshots below for the current setup.
