Serial number collision?

Hello,
I bought three ssd to usb adapters (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33034187646.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.6cb04c4doK8A5N)
Before I will open dispute I would like to verify here with you if this is really problem of those adapters.

I have three SSD's connected to true nas PC in RAID. But I had to change connections. As replacement I choice Kebidu sata adapter mentioned above.
But when I try connect them to PC I can always see only one in time. I tryed to disconnect them...

Curious.

Is the plan for people to migrate a CORE deployment to SCALE ?

had a loo at Scale and really like what I saw, but it crashed a couple of times on me, so ye def not ready to run the house on, yet. But would def like to look at it when it is more stable.

Can't access dataset inside another dataset

Hi,

I'm running TrueNAS 12 (latest stable update). I have a few datasets shared over SMB and all is well except for one. This one is inside another dataset (as in, a folder inside another folder which is also a dataset). For some reason I can map the drive to Windows but the drive appears with no bar and I can't enter it.

Is there a restriction on this kind of situation (share a folder and some descendant at the same time)?

Can I just move the folder to the same level as the other...

I have 3 file servers in operation connected through a 40GBE switch. One is a Norco 4224 with 24 drives running Nappit, a Supermicro with 36 drives running FreeNAS v11 and a Chenbro with 45 drives running FreeNAS v11.3. I also have a another server with Open Media Vault that isn't being used at the moment.

I am interested in the idea of setting up a cluster using TrueNAS scale when the stable version is released but there doesn't seem to be much info on TrueNAS scale and how to setup nodes...

Is there any guides or info on how to set up a multi node system?

An Unexpected Network Error Has Occured

we're running two TrueNas 12 instances, and both of them have an issue with "an unexpected network error has occured" when we use them with windows over SMB. nowhere ever does this issue arise with our windows machine when we're doing windows-to-windows transfers.

this is a rather vague error. how would one dig into getting more information regarding this issue? are there detailed windows or TrueNAS logs one can extract? can't really work with errors; these machines are expected to sever...

Hi,
when i go to the community plugin section i get this
[EFAULT] Cmd('git') failed due to: exit code(1) cmdline: git checkout 12.2-RELEASE stderr: 'error: Your local changes to the following files would be overwritten by checkout: .cirrus/install_script.sh Please commit your changes or stash them before you switch branches. Aborting'

Yes it is saying 'EFAULT' i think it should be DEDAULT...

Cant Install TrueNAS over Serial Console

Hi Guys,

So i have been banging my head against this for some time now.

My objective is to install TrueNAS on a WD Sentinal DX4000.

I have manged to connect to the device over a serial console and have managed to change the BIOS boot setting to boot from the USB.

I get to the point where the TrueNAS Installer screen shows up with the multiple options to install TrueNAS.

I select 2 as the option to install over Serial, since the device does not have any VGA output. But i get the below...

As I have mentioned elsewhere, I am in the process of switching from FreeNAS 11.3 U5 to TrueNAS. As part of that process, I have left AFP behind and am using SMB-only. Most shares work without a hitch, however, backing up Time Machine shares is still problematic.

This is a repost. I think I put the original in the wrong forum here. I put it in FreeNAS Legacy Sharing. This question is about TrueNAS and is the current release. I don't have any problems at all with my old FreeNAS legacy system that is still going.

With this new TrueNAS, I am having an ongoing issue with a windows share not giving me the permissions that I need to use it. I have two other threads on this and people have tried to help me, but I still have issues. I have tried setting...

Installation CD boot issue

Hello,

i'm trying to install the FreeNAS-11.3-U5 from CD. My system uses 120 GB SSD and external USB DVD drive. But after i start from the CD the installation will be halted before the "Shark Menu" with following message:

it would be great if samba in TrueNAS could be compiled with Spotlight support. It seams that it is currently not enabled

Transmission Not Downloading

I've had transmission in a jail work but have not used it in a while. After Sonarr transfer to request to transmission I get downloading from 0 of 0 peers and the download never starts. Under network settings it says my listening port is closed. My firewall is PFSense and I have a port foward for the transmission port to forward to the FN transmission jail. I using openvpn in the jail and it's showing an I other than my WAN when I issue curl ident.me

Accessing nextcloud uploaded files

Whenever fiules are uploaded via nextcloud they are created with this permission:
-rwx------+ 1 www wheel
I was wondering if there is a way for these files to be viewable by other users (whether its changing the permissions uploaded files are created with or allowing another user access to see the files that are owned by www).

TrueNAS 12 U1 creates automatic (kind of) empty snapshots

Hi,

yesterday afternoon I activated the shown task for automatic snapshots of my main Pool "datapool" (yes, silly name. :wink: ). Its the only snapshot-task.

So, the system should take snapshots every three hours (from the Pool itself and the child datasets), but only if there are changes.

But when I checked today I saw a lot of snapshots that show some data change, but are taken at a time (this night) when definitely no one changed...
