Hi all,

Yes I know - don't do RAID controllers yada yada yada. This is for my ESXi boot drive, I have a TrueNAS Core VM in testing (again I know, don't do this etc but I'm passing an LSI pcie through to it).

So here's my question. I have two 250Gb Samsung M.2 *SATA* drives that will happily live on my LSI (immediately recognised & initialised), but when I hang them on my DL380p's onboard P420i they're not even showing up in the RBSU. Has anybody been able to use these on a P420i?

Hey there,

I have a separate jail to read the values of my solar inverters. It runs a python script originally written for raspberry, but it works well in a jail. I can start that python script in daemon mode and it will send the values to my mqtt. Now I wanted to improve, as the daemon does not autostart at reboot. So I have written a script in /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ that works when called with onestart.

Shadow copy works on the source machine, but if I replicate my datasets to another machine, unfortunately the replicated data (on shadow copy) is not visible under Windows 10 via smb. I am hoping that someone else has experienced (and been able to resolve) this issue, or at least can help me figure out where to look to pinpoint the problem. I have found similar threads on this forum and on reddit, but I didn't find anything that resolved my problem (and honestly I couldn't understand much of what they were saying).

About a week and a half ago, all of my jails lost networking. By that I mean they quit working, presumably because they couldn't talk to the outside anymore...

I would like to know if it is possible to setup a cron job that will periodically lock an unlocked pool. Having the pool be locked once a week to protect the data I would think should be possible without rebooting the entire computer but I can't seem to find any information about how to do this.

Long time user of freenas here. First time having to post for information.
Can not seem to get rsync to work on TrueNAS core 12. This is from any *nix box to TrueNAS using rsync named module.
I have 2 FreeNAS-11.3-U5 machines running fine. I set up a new FreeNAS-11.3-U5. Confirmed everything hardware wise worked. Set everything up like the other 2 boxes. Hi all. No matter what I do, the app catalog won't load on TrueNAS SCALE beta. It used to load after the initial SCALE installation, then at somepoint, it randomly stopped. The network hasn't changed at all. It's connected to a semi-managed switch (nothing special is set), which is connected to an ISP provided router.

I've got an external 12TB storage connected to TrueNAS-12.0-U4.
If I format the storage to one single volume over 10TB, then truenas doesn't see it in the disks.
If I format the storage to a max of 10TB, then that volume shows up in the disks. In fact, when it saw it, it was slightly over 10TB, something like 10,889.

Is there a limitation of some sort I am not finding out about?

Hello
Apologies if this is a stupid question but im not a storage guru. Can you use 2 raid controllers?
I have filled up all 16 hd's on my truenas so i purchased another ASR-71605 and connected more disks however i can see both raid cards on boot and i can see the additional disks if i go F8 and list the disks in the raid bios however when i boot into truenas, it only sees the orginal 16 disks on the first raid card.

Can anyone help?

Recently had issue where I upgraded plex (inside iocage jail using PMS_Updater.sh script) on a newly created iocage jail and the settings pages no longer function in Plex web UI.
Media plays, media scan works, just nothing for that specific Plex server settings work and return "Server settings are unavailable". Log files woudl contain things like:
"Timeout or error reading status line from plug-in pipe [com.plexapp.system], we're killing it."

Please advise me on this raid 5 setup.

I have the following hardware in my treunas core.
2 x 8 GB DDR 4 2666MHz ECC Ram.
Avago lsi sas hba 9207-i.
Now have 3 x 2 TB WD Red Plus (cmr). Cache 128 mb purchased.
The disks are used to regularly backup my laptop.
These disks also hold all the photos and private videos that can be accessed via plex.

Is this fine, or do you recommend using another raid setup?

Just wondering if anyone is willing to help identify a good/sound set of configuration options for a predominantly macOS client environment for TrueNAS on reasonably "okay/average" hardware that people may have lying around. ← i.e. typical home/hobby use.

Hi, need some suggestions how to configure my new server with Scale.
I'm looking at Scale because I need Docker and some VMs.
I have a DL380p gen8 with two 2650v2, 192 GB of RAM, 12 SAS disks (3.5 HP 3 TB DP SAS drives), P420i to put in HBA mode and a FLR534 with two 10gb (one used).

VNC configured port not what is being used. For example: configured VNC Port: 15553 is only working on 14553. using the "<...>VNC" link it opens on 14553. No response on 15553. I only figured this out when trying to port-forward it on my router. This is happening on ALL of my VMs.
