Help Please! My TrueNAS (SCALE) not booting! After reboot I get the following (see Reddit post attached)

SMB Multichannel

I'm having a bit of a problem getting SMB multichannel to work with the latest version of SCALE and I am hoping someone can help me understand what I did wrong.

I have the following params added to the SMB service Auxilliary Parameters:

server multi channel support = yes
aio read size = 1
aio write size = 1

I've checked smb4.conf using testparm -s and it looks like SMB multichannel is enabled (I believe it's default to 'Yes' in version 4.15 and not showing up). If it were disabled...

AD authentication issues using Linux

Hi.

I have something very strange going on that I thought was fixed a couple times now, but keeps recurring.

We have our truenas server bound to our AD -- and it works flawlessly on windows. However, something very strange is happening under linux, using the mount command.

For Example:
Code:
mount -t cifs //my-truenas/images /mnt/misc -o username=myuser,domain=mydomain
Password for myuser@//my-truenas/images: ***********
mount error(13): Permission denied

[Improvement] Unlock multiple Pools/Datasets from a single menu

Looks like "Only iX Engineers can create Improvement / Feature Ticket Types". So I guess I will post this here.

For systems with multiple passphrase encrypted Pools/Datasets you need to go to each Pool and select Unlock. If you need to do this several times it can take quite a long time as it needs to load multiple things before and after you enter the passphrase.

It would be helpful to have a main window that lists all locked Pools/Datasets in one menu so you can input all your passphases...

Is my plan for a TrueNas Scale system achievable?

Hi everyone!

I'm considering to use TrueNas for a new NAS build but I am not sure if my plan is a good one or not.

Goal:
  • Store all our movies and pictures
  • Host Plex Server with hardware encoding (GTX 1650 super)
  • Host nextcloud server
    • LAN clients (windows) must be able to directly access their nextcloud data stored on the NAS via cifs/smb
(it must not be required to run the nextcloud client on each windows PC and store a copy of all files locally on the client...

So i noticed the other day that one of my pools was degraded.

I then went and checked if it was in warranty period and it is. Its a 3TB WD green.

When i went to put in the request to return it. I was asked for why so did some tests on the drive and all came back good. If the drive is passing all tests then why is it showing as degraded?

the tests i did were

Migration issues with Truenas Scale 22.02.0

Good morning all,
I just tested my migration to Truena Scale 22.02.0 in a Vmware Workstation Pro VM in my Truenas Core which is currently working fine. Right now, I'm testing all the solutions, before finally migrating to Scale!
[Problem 1]: In a cron job, I configured my NAS to shutdown at 01:00 with the cmd: shutdown -p now which works perfectly in Core. But that refuses to work in Scale 22.02.0 why I don't know?
[Problem 2]: All my ACLs work fine in Core but not in Scale? My needs are...

Hello everyone :)

This is my first post and it is very egoistical, sorry... I just would like confirmation from experienced users that my hardware list is OK!
I made the mistake of ordering CPU+MOBO+RAM+HBA without reading the docs first and it turns out they are not good for this use-case... So I will recycle those parts for an HTPC and make a new order for my NAS but I don't want to to the same mistake twice!

I am a n00b in the NAS space so I want the simplest config possible at start...

networking configuration tooling seems bugged in 22.12-MASTER-20220324-192925 (and others)

Howdy all!

I’m wondering if anyone else is running into some odd behaviors wrt the network configuration tooling

ive got a dell r720, with a quad 10g nic, exposed to truenas as 8x ‘eno’ interfaces (eno1-eno8 mtu9216)
these are configured as two bonds
bond0 (eno1-4)
bond1 (eno5-8)
(load balance layer 3+4 mtu9216)

bond0 is the parent for several vlan interfaces
vlan1
vlan2
vlan3
vlan10
vlan12
vlan36
vlan40
mtu 9216
bond1 is the parent for several other vlans

k3s-server uses 10% CPU for no reason

From what I can see this is Kubernetes but I have not configured any functions on SCALE at all except an empty smb share.
I don't find anything about Kubernetes in GUI at all, no way to turn it off and no reason for it to be there in the first place?

Code:

Plain Docker Image Domain Name for Linking Apps Internally

$

This page (https://truecharts.org/manual/Quick-Start Guides/06-linking-apps/) explains how to link apps internally using their domain names. However, I have a plain docker image for one of my apps that I'm running via the "Launch Docker Image" button and I'm trying to figure out what the domain name should be for that. Any chance anyone can assist with figuring this out?

Thanks,
Harry

In planning my first TrueNAS setup I've spent countless hours reading on this forum, so first of all, my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed to this invaluable resource.

I have come to a point where I can't find an answer as there doesn't seem to be a ton of information available on fusion pools yet.

Basically, I intend to use a special vdev/fusion pool to speed up both reads and writes to my pool and provide quick access to the many small (<1KB) files that make up my...

TrueNAS SCALE /etc/hosts file not persistent across reboots

$

Hi

Anyone encountered this issue?

I have just installed TrueNAS SCALE 22.02.0.1 (latest one as of last week) for the first time, and configurations went well. I set up 6 nodes of TrueNAS SCALE with a full /etc/hosts file which I edited with the vi editor. But the /etc/hosts file resets to default (empties all my entries) after every reboot. No real harm except being a hassle.

Planning a 2x3 Distributed Replicated volume and a 4+2 Dispersed volume for Gluster testing. The 6 node Gluster...
