Unable to run apps on Baremetal SCALE

Hello,

I´m trying to run app on my Testserver (HP microserver gen8, Xeon E3-1220L V2, 16 GB ECC RAM, 4x2TB SATA HDD). Deployment stopping with followinfg Application Events:

Will it TrueNAS Supermicro Server

Newbie here... Be gentle. :smile:

So I have been asked to build a TrueNAS by my company and have never done it before. The issues is that the FIPS encrypted drives we are deploying are not supported by our installed QNAPS so here we are. Anyway, I am looking at using the following base machine to build TrueNAS on and was hoping for any insight form the community... Will it work OK? Dos and dont's? Any gotchas? Etc. Any guidance or help anyone can provide before I really get into this...

UI of other apps has no response when files are transferring through SMB

I am using TrueNAS scale 22.02.
When I am transferring files by using smb from my PC to TrueNAS scale, I find the UI of other truechart apps is just loading or cannot be accessed.
Is there any way to solve the problem?

Separate Docker containers

Hi guys,

i want to run multiple docker under Truenas Scale which should be completely separate from each other. This means I want to have each Docker container in a separate VLAN so that they can't communicate with each other. Is this somehow possible?

Device named Irbis, but I do not find a trap of it's real Chinese OEM name :( Looks OK, however, cleas sin signal, good work time. USB present, in Windows well monitored by UPSmart software (ver 1.5). Linux software provided, but not tested (seems linux version of UPSmart too, as I understand)

However, in BSD this (self-censored) device looks highly mysterious. dmesg gives this:

Strange High Memory Usage by Services

Hi everyone!

I need help to understand what is going on with my freenas memory usage. After a reboot the nas memory is normal but over time Services increases to the point that almost entire Nas is consumed (see image below)

I only have one jail with MiniDLNA and one ubuntu virtual machine with 4GB memory allocated. Can someone help me investigate why Services are consuming so much?

I'm running a system based on a Dell T1700 with 24GB memory.

Good afternoon,

I have a question about OpenVPN, if you can help me:

VPN clients are getting different IPs like 192.168.2.2, server is 192.168.1.88, so far so good. When a third or fourth client connects to the VPN, it receives an IP 192.168.2.3 and no longer has access to the files and only 192.168.2.2 has access. What could be wrong with the configuration?

Performance drops over night

I have TrueNAS running on a HP Proliant Microserver Gen8 with
2 x 3TB WD Red (old ones) and 16 GB RAM.
Right after installing and starting the NAS I get 40-50 MB/s read and
write performance. While the system is on the speed drops almost to 0.

System was installed on a Kingston SSD connected via
DeLOCK - Controller - 2 Channel - SATA 6Gb/s Low-Profile - 600MBps - PCIe 3.0 (90431)

Migrating boot drive, but it is also a cache drive

Hi,

I'm running TrueNAS Core 12.0 on a Core i5 3570K with 8GB of RAM and using a 240GB SSD as a boot drive, and with a 16GB cache partition (recommended during installation as I'm less than 16GB RAM). I want to transition the boot drive onto a different 120GB boot drive so I can repurpose the 240GB one as a jail for a plex server.

SMB Access Denied - Reboot fixes

Hi Everyone,

I have some shares set as open for everyone and some only accessible for my user.

Login works fine on the smb shares, but after approx 24h it doesnt anymore.

Rebooting the whole NAS fixes the problem, and login is again possible, with the same credentials.

Is this a known bug? Can I do something to fix this?
I could set up a reboot job every 12h or so, but thats maybe unnecessary. Also it spins down all the HDD, so not the best either.

Hello Everyone,

first of all, I am very aware that my issue is probably a misunderstanding of permission settings.
But the only solutions I found were command line inputs, or stuff I didnt understand.

So here is my problem:

I have a Pool where my Jails are.
At the moment only 1 jail, which is SABNZBD with the default setting everywhere.
Installed, started, can go via manage in it and setup the rest.

Help mounting folders in my main storage pool to my transmission plugin jail.

Hello, I created a pool and installed the Transmission plugin.
What I would like to happen is for transmission download directly to my main Storage dataset.
-Pool1 -iocage -Storage -music -Videos -transmission

I mounted the Pool1/Storage/transmission to the Transmission jail default downloads folder
But the downloads seem to not go to the Storage transmission folder at all.

Slow read performance

I am experiencing slow read performance on my TrueNAS R20. I have one pool using 3.5 TB of storage with 16.29 available. 9 drives 3.64 TB drives configured using RAIDZ3. I have one drive for Caching and one drive for logs. Copying files to the TrueNAS seem to be ok, not great, but useable( 30MBps over 1 Gbps). Copying files from TrueNAS hover between 1.5 and 2.0 MBps.

replacing boot pool with larger usb does not increase capacity

G'day,

I have a mirrored boot pool with 2 off USB sticks of 16 GB each. one failed so I replaced it with a 64GB one, and then replaced the other one with a 64G as well. I was expecting to see a full storage capacity of 64 GB at the end but it is still 16 GB. Am i missing something?

Generic Webhook alerts for TrueNAS SCALE?

Hi. I was wondering if there is a way to perform generic webhook alerts in TrueNAS? The idea is for the system to perform an HTTP request to specific endpoint on alerts. I'm used to this functionality on my Synology NAS, but I couldn't find the option in the UI for TrueNAS SCALE. I only found support for specific services in the alert services page. If someone has an idea for a workaround, I would appreciate it. I've included a screenshot of the option from my Synology NAS.

VM running very slow, lots of swap_pager_getswapspace(##): failed messages

I have an Ubuntu VM that occasionally runs very slowly. It is set up with 4 CPU's and 4 threads each. When this happens, I get the swap_pager_getswapspace(##): failed errors on the console (MANY of them!) (Why don't I get these messages in the alerts section?)

This is from top ->o -> res while this is going on (Note that byve is going nuts!):

Only new users can't connect over SMB

We've recently encountered trouble when adding new users to our server. Although we're able to create the users just fine, whenever the new user attempts to connect to our main share, they're unable to log in. Based on the AUTH_LOG, it appears that these new users aren't being found:
