Hello all,

I'm still troubleshooting my build.  As mentioned previously, I have the following hardware:
Code:
Chassis: Supermicro Superchassis SC216E16-R800LPB
Backplane/Expander: Supermicro SAS/SATA Backplane BPN-SAS2-216EL1 with SAS2 expander
Motherboard: TYAN S7012 (S7012GM4NR) Motherboard
CPU: Dual Intel Xeon E5645 2.4Ghz 6 core CPUs for 12 cores
Memory: 64GB DDR3 ECC Ram
HBA: LSI 9211-8i JBOD HBA CARD (Appears to be what I would guess is a Dell H200 reflashed to show up as an Avago...

After my last reboot all my jails restarted except for the one with all my plugins.  Autostart is true in the jail tab. Got it working by clicking on the start button for the jail.  Is there anything I can do to make it autostart after a reboot?

NFS Shares timeout on Ubuntu

Despite several days of searching various forums and trying various fixes, I can't get my Ubuntu desktop to mount a NFS share off my FreeNAS.

FreeNAS Power Consumption Optimizing??

So i need help setting up my NAS to run at lowest power consumption as possible.

My usage:

It will run 24/7 ish, by that i mean it will auto shutdown on a schedule when I'm at work and start up when I get home from pre set times which i believe i can do in bios but if not it can be done inside FreeNAS i believe.

It will be used to store media and just basic storage, and i send my PC's backup to it but speed is not my concern more redundancy which it has. it will only be ever used by 1-2...

Best way to deal with these drives/data? Is raid the most logical "backup"?

I've been running a windows server for a few years now. This consisted of 5x 3TB WD Greens. I've built a FreeNAS system, and have 3x 6TB reds available to put in it. The problem is I've used one of those 6tbs for data, so I only have the FreeNAS server running right now with 2x 6tbs and 5.5gb of available data. Looking at the calculators, this seems to be normal, and that size doubles every time you put 2 drives in. I was unable to select any option other than "auto" when setting up the...

Ethernet intermittent

I'm a real newb when it comes to networking.  And I'm not sure this is strictly FreeNAS related, but it might be.

I have a Motorola cable modem/router with 4 ethernet ports and wifi.  Generally I've had FreeNAS connected to the router via LAN1 and the dedicated IPMI port, but IPMI also works over LAN1 if the IPMI cable is not connected.  Client computers also connect to the router.  It has always seemed to work well.

Lately I've noticed when I connect my laptop to ethernet, and turn off...

Server Pingable but unable to connect to shares or see in Windows Explorer

Hi all, I setup a FreeNAS server last year, had it working fine...and then got swamped with other things and promptly forgot about it. Go figure.
Anyhow, today I looked at it and discovered I was unable to access any of the file shares. I can ping and access the web interface, but it does not show up in Windows Explorer nor does mapping a network drive work.

Build: FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201602031011 (running on a linux box)

Different "Authorized Access"groups for iSCSI not working

Hi,

I'm using FreeNAS-9.10.2-U1 for iSCSI targets on several boxes. I'm configuring various initiators and various targets using these initiators. This works fine as long as i use the same  "Authorized Access Group" for all targets. As soon as is try to use another "Authorized Access" group than "1" the client can't login anymore. Using different users in group "1" works OK. The only way I found to create another "Authorized Access" group is to give a different "Group ID" when using "Adding...

NFS Share and Rsync

I am using the latest FreeNAS on one of their boxes.  I am trying to set up rsync backup on another server to the NFS share I created in FreeNAS.  I can get it to work although it randomly quits part way through the rsync backup, but the bigger issue is it is trying to save the permissions so I can restore from it but it can't set the UID and GID properly as the Users and Groups on the linux box don't exist on the FreeBSD FreeNAS box.  What am I missing to get this implemented?  Thanks

(FreeNAS-10-MASTER-201701272250)

All from the CLI

In short; when running docker container <container> exec "command", it won't return to the prompt untill ^] is pressed. This makes it hard to schedule (e.g. using cli -f file_containing_above_command.txt)

Use case: I want to run a command within a container, every 15 minutes, so basically a cron job.

Specifically, this is a spotweb container, which needs to be triggered to retrieve new mesages from a usenet server.

Does your CPU have to have the EPT capability in order to run VM's or containers inside of freenas 10? If so, will there be any way to have older CPU's that have VT-x to do virtualization and use containers?

Seagate 8TB SMR Archive used as backup, working great

Thought I'd post an update. My full backups are working great with the Seagate 8TB SMR Archive disk.
It's backing up a RAID-Z2 pool with 4 x 4TB disks, so a single 8TB disk can do the backups. (After I set
the backup pool to same compression :). I've probably run 12 backups, of various types, (full or incremtnal),
over the last 18 months. All ran fine, no real problems. (Yes, I only run one backup every 2 months on THIS
disk.)

Backups run a bit slow, upto 18 hours, (6 hours for the...

Intel X710 using incorrect driver in latest 9.10 release?

I'd like a few more eyes on this one before I file a ticket. It seems to me that FreeNAS 9.10 (I'm currently on 9.10.2-U1) is using the FreeBSD driver that was made for the XL710 as the base driver in FreeNAS for the X710 cards. I don't believe this is correct as Intel doesn't list the drivers as compatible for either card. I believe it should be using the Physical Function driver (current latest version from Intel is 3.1.14) for the X710. I have a few X710-DA4 cards  and this is what my...
