I'm new to FreeNAS, so if this has been asked a lot, please forgive me, but my google-fu did not really help me here

In the end I want to a striped mirror zpool (the zfs pendant of a RAID10) with 4 disks (I prefer it to a 4 disk RAIDZ2), but as a concession to my wife I will start out with a two disk mirror. Am I assuming right that I can, after starting out with a two disk mirror, simply add another two disk mirror after some time, and will have nearly* the same as if starting out with...

I started a thread on this project recently but the plan changed and I might have some useful items to report.

Case, moboard and power supply original T110.
Added 32 Gb memory.
Upgraded CPU to E3-1270V2.
Added Intel NICs.
Will be fitting 4x2Tb WD Red disks, waiting on Amazon delivery right now. My two test disks are connected to two of the mobo SATA connectors.

Comments.
1270V2 change is a simple "drop in" upgrade. V3 and higher versions of the 1200 CPUs will apparently not work with the...

I am trying to create an NFS share to an iocage dataset. I did this with the old warden datasets in order to back up data and configs created by software running within the jail.

This is the error I get when trying to create the share:

I just did a clean install of FreeNAS 11 and I'm trying to set up my plugin jails again. I'm finding to my dismay that everything described in this thread is now wrong.

It seems that there is now a built-in "media" user and "media" group, both with the id 8765309. That's cute, but it breaks my previous permissions setup. I'm also having difficulty figuring out which plugins...

Hello --

My Freenas Mini XL reported an ipmi0 error 5f and "ipmi0 KCS: Read failed on byte 7" in console, and was unresponsive over the network via http, ssh or ping. I finally had to power it down. To try to recover:

1. I removed power cable for 20 seconds and plugged it back in. The fan spun up for a few seconds, and then spun back down. Only the Ethernet status light was on, and blinked periodically. No console output.

2. I removed the power cable for several minutes and powered back...

I was following the tutorial to creating a Plex Jail written by Cosmo Kramer.  I got to the part where it says "Add Jail".  I followed the instructions, click OK.  Then I get the error below.

Hello,

After updating to FreeNAS-11-MASTER-201712140629 I am getting [Errno 61] Connection refused and I am not able to connect to my storage and the beta login does not work.  I am only able to login to the old ui.  One other thing I cannot shutdown, reboot, or do anything else without getting [Errno 61] Connection refused - everything was working fine before I updated.

This is what I see on the information screen:- hope someone can help

I'm extremely new to FreeNAS and just set up a new NAS. I am trying to back up all of my data to my system, but after a few hours of writing to my storage pool FreeNAS appears to crash, shutdown, and all I can see is a black screen. It requires me to physically restart the computer.

I have tried looking for some answers but most of the references I found for this issue were with users using < 2 GB of RAM on FreeNAS versions << 11.

As I am new, I really have no idea how to debug this issue...

Now I have my FreeNAS box pretty much setup, I want to be able to access it remotely in a secure manner.
Currently I am running: Nextcloud, Plex, Plexpy, Sabnzbd, Sonarr, Radarr, Headphones, NzbHydra, Jackett & Organizr as generic jails.

My idea is to setup a secure VPN connection using Pfsense. I have no experience using Pfsense whatsoever, so any advice is highly appreciated!

My current Nas setup:
OS: FreeNAS 11.0-U4
CPU: Intel Celeron G3920 Boxed
MOBO: Gigabyte...

I have 4 devices (1 Mac) in my home and I've created USBs on every one of them, no matter which machine I boot the USB from I get errors. Not just trying to install 11.1 but 11.0 and 9.3 as well. Luckily my Macbook is a 2010 model with a Superdrive and finally got to install (currently 30% on base package 1 *crosses fingers*).

Why is it so hard to install? I like it so much that I wanna make it work but it is a pain in the dickens to install/upgrade.

I updated to 11.1 from 11 today and experienced the VNC connections both web and client to be garbled and also the mac address changed hence DHCP changed the IP. I am not 100% sure of the mac address change (I couldn't reach the old IP and don't have access to the DHCP server logs) but suspect it from the 'auto generate mac' description when the config for VNC doesn't have one specified, I was expecting it to use the one it chose in 11. The mouse in VNC is an X like old X windows, it's there...

Morning folks,

I attempted to auto-update my FreeNAS box this morning and everything went fine until after reboot...

Please help, I know little to nothing in regards to troubleshooting FreeNAS and/or FreeBSD. Please help!
