Best Modular HBA for Dell R620

I'm planning to use a 10-bay Dell PowerEdge R620 for FreeNAS. This machine will provide a 10Gb iSCSI storage to a cluster of VMware hosts which (1) run VMs and (2) provide NFS shared storage.

The server came with a PERC H710p, which I understand does not allow pass-through. After some reading, it seemed to me that the PERC H310 (non-mini) is a good HBA which can be flashed with IT firmware. I also found a page where the PERC H310 Mini can be configured for non-raid.

I'm trying to install UrBackup in a fresh Jail, on version  FreeNAS-11.1-U6, and I m using the following instructions at: https://www.urbackup.org/freenasserverinstall.html,

  1. Create a new FreeBSD jail (the default). Map the backup storage into the jail.

Can't access freenas shares one one of my networks

For some reason I started having the issue where I can't connect to my network shares over my p2p 10gb network.  No matter what I do, messing with permissions, users and passwords, I get the error "The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password".  If I connect via my main network I can connect just fine.  I am having this same issue with my Windows 10 vm that is running on the same box as freenas.  Any ideas why I can't connect?

Specs:
Freenas 11.2...

Hi folks,

I couldn't find any resource available regarding AMD Threadripper as a viable solution to a Freenas box.
I just wanted to chime in with my findings so far.

As I have upgraded my personal PC to the latest Threadripper 2950X, I was able to perform some experiment based on existing ZFS pools.
Here are the details:

CPU: AMD Threadripper 2950X
MB: Asrock x399 Taichi
RAM: 8 x 16GB Kingston KVR24E17D8/16 ( Total 128GB)

Volumes:
2 x RED 4TB each in Mirror configuration.
3 x HGST 10TB...

Hi,

So recently my boot device got corrupted during an upgrade (no idea why). Well I thought doesn't matter that much since the data should be untouched. So I quickly reinstalled FreeNAS and imported my Volume through the WebGUI Wizard. Pool showed up instantly and was imported without a hitch. Unfortunately the only thing I saw was a 100G vm_disk in my dataset. ~3TB of files were missing. Any Ideas what could have happened? I'm absolutely clueless. Maybe i can try to restore the config or...

Hey everyone,

I have been toying around with the thought of building a new NAS for the past year since my current NAS (Synology DS411) is getting rather old and its disks need replacement aswell (most are nearing 10 year mark). Thus googling/youtube I stumbled upon freenas and building one myself, currently my NAS functions as a media streamer and back-up storage and contains 4x2 Tb disks. The main issue is compability with my current devices as those are flakey at best, I have a Samsung...

SMB share not accessable from android device (works from PC)

I'm having a bit of a struggle setting up accessibility of my storage.

I have set up an SMB share that is perfectly accessible from my windows PC, yet all of my android devices seem to fail. They can see the NAS sitting on the network, but as soon as I attempt to access it, it throws a user/pass request at me. I've tried root and the user assigned to the share, neither are letting me pass. To clarify, its not the share that's blocking it, I can't even get through the door to get to those....

Plex jail/vm, unable to "Claim server"

Decided to try Plex on my FreeNAS server but am having a bit of trouble.  

Running FreeNAS 11.1.  I have installed Plex using (1) the Plex plug-in, (2) a generic jail and manually installing Plex (using iocage from the command line), and (3) by creating a VM, installing Ubuntu server in the VM, and installing Plex.

In all three cases the setup seems to go fine and I can connect to the Plex server using xxx.xxx.x.x:32400/web and see it locally.   But I can't enable remote access or claim...

as far as I understood it, it is at the moment not possible to install Ombi v3 on FreeBSD.

So I tried it with v2 (v2.2.1 was the last v2) with this: https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/plex-request-or-similar.42187/#post-272728
Only that I pkg locked sqlite3 at first because Apps like Radarr, Sonarr, Lidarr and so on have troubles with it.
Now, that FreeBSD has passed a Mono Version thats works like a charm with Radarr etc. I hoped it'll do for Ombi, too. But it...

Hi all,

My Freenas server has been running for years without any issues but overnight the psu died and now I'm facing issues with the zpool.

Doing a zpool import gives me this

Nextcloud plugin/jail disappeared!

Hi,

I am om FreeNAS 11-2 RC2.
I had Nextcloud installed as a plug-in and it was working fine. Today I wanted to access it and it wasn’t on the list of installed jails. On the list of installed plugins I got a index error from the interface.
On the terminal I see this when I run jls:

I have a raidz2 in FreeNAS 11.1 that has been running great for quite a while but I noticed the other day one of my drives was beginning to fail as the Offline_Uncorrectable value began to steadily increase over the past couple days and had gotten to about 9k when my new drive arrived. Mind you, FreeNAS hadn't even recognized the drive as bad at this point, I was just being proactive considering the drive in question had well over 47k power on hours.

Good afternoon, FN experts.

My FN box has been running pretty well stable for a few months, and over the last week or so has been rebooting overnight, and sometimes during the day and I don't know why.

Yesterday I upgraded it from 11.1U5 to 11.1U6 (and in the process upgraded the boot USB stick from 2GB to 16GB).  Today I have had two reboots.

Are there any logs somewhere I can interrogate that might help me identify what's causing the reboots?

iocage plex metadata and transcoding issue

Hello,

I have been attempting to set up plex in a new iocage jail over the last couple days. I can get everything up and running, and plex media server scans my files just fine. Plex never loads any metadata or posters for the media, however. I also can't play anything back that needs to be transcoded. I can play things directly though.

Plex works fine in the old warden jails. I configured the two jails (1 warden, 1 iocage) identically, but the warden jail is properly scanning the...
