How to install MiniDLNA into a FreeNAS 9.3, 9.10.x., 11.x (original GUI & New GUI) Jails (warden and iocage).

It appears that FreeNAS has no plans to incorporate a simple DLNA server for FreeNAS 9.3 and later so this thread contains detailed instructions to install MiniDLNA in a jail, your other option is to use Plex which does have a very good built in DLNA server.

Editing existing zvol shows blank info (11.2-RC2)

I'm having a weird issue where when trying to edit my one existing zvol, the edit page shows blank: https://i.imgur.com/xc52aJe.png

I tried creating another test zvol, and that one shows the correct info when I edit it. This pool was originally created on 9.something, then I installed 11.something over it, and upgraded to 11.2-RC2. Pretty sure it was working properly before 11.2-RC1 at least. It looks normal (I think, anyway) in the CLI.

I tried expanding it from the GUI by 1 GB...

I have a newer built freenas box, after building it I did so under sizing my new raid. I need to add another drive. I took my old freenas box 10 drive raid and got it installed into the machine, i had a drive going bad so I got it pulled and now down to 9x 3tb drives. What is the best method to back up my new raid (3x 8tb's) so I can add a new drive and rebuild it again. Currently machine is used for NAS and plex media server. I'm looking for minimal work to restore my plugin's. All drives...

Good evening folks.  I'm looking for a bit of advice on on a problem that's been bugging me for a while.  I have a nextcloud server (running on apache as a VM with SSL running via lets-encrypt) and OnlyOffice document server running on a separate VM with a self-signed certificate and after a bit of tweaking I managed to get them to work together.  Both work great on the LAN however I would like to get both accessible externally.

Hi all,

My Freenas server has been running for years without any issues but overnight the psu died and now I'm facing issues with the zpool.

Doing a zpool import gives me this

RC2 not working

hello all

just installed 11.2 RC2 all menus with the exception of system and dashboard are not populated. I can no longer see my pools my users, my jails and my snapshots. I tried to re-import the disks to no avail

do i reset to factory from the console or did i forget to do something?

Hello, I am new here,not an expert On ZFS or FreeNAS. We have a couple freeNAS servers we use to store data and backups. After a power loss one of them had trouble getting On the network again.

The system is latest 11.2 and had one pool with 2 mirrored 8 TB. I recently put up Plex in a jail but that is not important.

I want to build a freeNAS media server around the L5639 as it is dirt cheap ($10), fast and low power. My preferred hard drive storage would be two 6gb drives in RAID1. What motherboard options do I have? I am looking for something used and inexpensive on Ebay. Compatibility looks like a minefield. Thanks for your help!

Hi guys i have already finalize the specs of my FreeNas Build. I really need motherboard recommendations for this CPU.

Below are the specs

CPU - i3 8100
Hardisk -  Seagate Ironwolf 4tb x4 = 16tb / Raidz2 = 8tb
RAM - 16 Gb ECC memory
Case - node 804
Power Supply - 500w

I am running the Plex plugin in Freenas.  I recently set up the Plex DVR to record shows from my antenna/HDHomerun premium, however the files that are being created are not able to be deleted from my Windows machine.  I have been Googling around for the last few days, and I think the issue is permission related, as I am getting errors about being unable to delete do to not being the Unix user (in the file security tab, it identifies my Freenas root/wheel user as the only one who can write...

Hi all,
Thank you in advance for your support.
I used the web GUI in freenas 11.2 to install the plugins for radarr, sonarr and transmission. I seem to have everything working fine for all 3 except that for some reason radarr does not add the video codec to the file or folder name when using the rename feature, with any of the {MediaInfo ....} options such as attached photo. It doesnt work for existing movies that I imported or for new movies obtained through radarr. See example of renaming...

Hello

is it possible to mount encrypted volumes from within a Linux-client from the command line/cli?

Has anyone made a complete tutorial on the install of plugins from the GUI, i.e clicking on the plugins and letting them install themselves in FreeNAS 11.

I had mine running in FreeNAS 9.3 but cannot keep them going in FreeNAS 11.

I am Running FreeNAS-11.1-RELEASE. Address 192.168.0.21

AMD Threadripper build.

Hi folks,

I couldn't find any resource available regarding AMD Threadripper as a viable solution to a Freenas box.
I just wanted to chime in with my findings so far.

As I have upgraded my personal PC to the latest Threadripper 2950X, I was able to perform some experiment based on existing ZFS pools.
Here are the details:

CPU: AMD Threadripper 2950X
MB: Asrock x399 Taichi
RAM: 8 x 16GB Kingston KVR24E17D8/16 ( Total 128GB)

Volumes:
2 x RED 4TB each in Mirror configuration.
3 x HGST 10TB...

I am close to finished testing new system, how do I migrate jails?
Bear in mind, the iocage export function will be broken until 11.2 U1 comes out, so I need another way of copying the jails across and creating the entries in the UI.

Can it be done?

As many here, I would like to control the access to FreeNAS WebUI using Radius. For me, it is because my 2 factor authentication is based on a Radius Server. My pfSense firewalls use it, so do my RoadWarrior VPN.
