Cannot Update Plex (9.10 Jail) on FreeNAS 11.2-U2.1

Current PlexPass Version Installed = 1.13.9.5439

Current FreshPorts PlexPass Version Available = 1.15.1.791_1

Yes, I know I am on the new platform and should be migrating to IOCage but I'm not 100% comfortable doing so and can't afford a mis-step when it comes to the library of 20tb I've spent years building.

My main concern is just getting Plex to upgrade. When I do the "pkg upgrade" command I get the following response:

What can I replace an Ableconn PCIe 2.0 to SATA III card with?

My motherboard (full info in sig below) has only 6 SATA ports and I need 11. I've been using an Ableconn PEX10-SAT PCIe 2.0 to SATA III card for the 5 additional SATA ports I need, but I've tracked various problems with drives spontaneously dropping out of pools and CAM timeout errors down to this card. The errors occur mainly under heavy load, FWIW. Here's the latest one:

Code:
dmesg | grep -e ada11

ada11: Serial Number XXXXXXXX
ada11: 600.000MB/s transfers (SATA 3.x, UDMA6, PIO...

FreeNAS 11.2 U2 server keeps restarting

Hi,

Since 2 days, my FreeNAS 11.2-U2 server keeps rebooting. Just before it reboots, I get this error message (see attached picture).

The process is always the same : boot -> server OK -> x amount of time/or whenever I try to access the server via the Web UI -> reboot

How can I fix this? All my data is backed up.

Thanks

Plex installed and shares added without any issues.

But i noticed plex doesn't scan the shares unless you do so manually.

Iam guessing this is a bug but iam wondering if there anyway around this?

Updated my plex plugin - here's how

I got my Plex Media Server plugin updated. This wasn't entirely intuitive, so here's the process I followed.

https://www.ixsystems.com/blog/december-freenas-plugins-updates/ is the blog post that mentions update from CLI.

In my case, I had Plex Media Server (Plexpass) installed, and it came in as a jail named "plex". TL;DR: That naming was the problem.

Attempting to update from UI (11.2-U1) claimed it was successful, but the Plex version hadn't changed.

Hey everyone, so I just updated from FreeNAS>9.2 to current FreeNAS (FreeNAS-11.2-U2.1 ), and everything in the update went smoothly except for one weird thing that is now spamming my terminal:

Mar 16 17:32:50 freenas rrdcached[2635]: handle_request_update: Could not read RRD file.

This has completely taken over my terminal, as it just spams the message non-stop. The system seems to work as normal. Aside from the spam, there doesn't seem to be any problems. I did a good amount of...

I'm trying to install Plex Media Server and I'm getting this error

Iocage update plex

Since executing iocage update plex, my plex doesn’t work. Running freenas 11.2. Jail says it’s up and plug-in says it’s up, but server doesn’t respond. At wits end with freenas.

Trying FreeNAS for first time. Built low end system (just a bit better hardware than low end Synology that can be a plex server) using ASRock J4105-ITX and 16G of ram. I have two 4TB HGSTs in a mirror with my Plex media dataset. I have a cheap WD SSD for my jails. Took a bit of study and youtube, but have plex installed and running fine. I'm using NFS between it and my Ubuntu Mate 18.04 build. I have the media folder mounted and am able to copy things to and from the FreeNAS fine...

Thoughts on KGPE-D16-ASUS MOBO for FreeNAS

Hey All,

I have a quick question- I have a KGPE-D16 Mobo with 2 AMD Opteron 6320 Processors and two (2) 16G of ECC Mem and planning on putting it together for my main FreeNAS build. This is mostly for storage which will be accessed by 4 people (for now). We mostly use AutoCAD and Revit.

I recently purchased the Norco 4220 case to be able to add drives as we grow.

  1. Is this configuration a good one or should I get something simpler?
  2. What SATA controller should I get to expand...

Hardware for freenas build?

Hi, i want to build a freenas system soon, but im not sure which hardware i should use. I want to build a system with 12 hdds (6x raidz2 and i want to add another 6x raidz2 later) with 4-6 tb capacity, so i need a system where i can upgrade the ram later. I've heard the pentium g4500 is a good cpu to use, but im not sure if it would be powerfull enough. ram i would use 16-32 gb eec at the beginning and would upgrade if needed later. Im also not sure what mainboard i should chose with 12 sata...

Freshports -> Emby Plugin

Could someone please pull the recent version of Emby into the plugins repository for FreeNAS, 3.5.3.0 has not been working ever since the switch was made to 11.0. However, 4.0.2.0, which has been in freshports for quite sometime now works perfectly fine.

25 TB storage: how to setup the smart way?

$

I have to setup up 25TB of useable storage (not raw) in a FreeNAS machine. Still no disks were purchased so still some flexibility left. What would be a smart way?

a) 4x 10TB HDDs, one ZFS Pool with one vdev and raidZ1. pros: just 4 disks cons: expensive (cost per GB storage isn't the best with 10TB drives), just one disk can fail

b) 6x 6TB HDDs, one ZFS Pool with one vdev and raidZ2. pros: cheaper (better cost per GB ratio), 2 disks can fail cons: 6 disks, not quiet 25TB space...

Strange behaviour when read over NFS

Hi everone,

I have a strange problem during these days when I tried to service jpg, png, gif files from freenas to nginx(ubuntu) over NFS.

I've never tried before service chunky files like png on NFS. When I bring online our systems to serve static content from freenas, write operations occurs on disks while only reading be in question.

I did not know whats under the hood in arc calculations. Maybe last access times of files should written on disks so these write operations comes from that...

Freenas as Active Directory Member - samba share access when domain controller is offline

$

Hi,

I added Freenas as a domain member to a Windows Server 2012 r2 domain controller without problems.
Would like to have access to the samba shares using the active directory permissions when the domain controller is offline.
Can Freenas use something like "cashed credentials" so the shares can be accessed when the domain controller is offline?

Thanks,
Tim
