Hi folks,

So I'm in the process of doing a major storage upgrade on my FreeNAS 9.10.2-U4 box (see sig link for full specs), slowly transitioning from 8x4TB to 8x10TB (RAIDZ2). I've swapped out 2 disks so far, da0 and da1, with no issues and successful resilvers. I was planning to swap out a 3rd disk this evening but when I pulled up my IPMI console getting ready to shut down I spotted this error on da0, which is one of the new 10TB drives (Seagate Ironwolf ST10000VN0004). It seems like there are lot of guides here on installing Nextcloud, and a number of people reporting problems with many of them. So, I figured, why not write another one? This is inspired by the work of @kjake in his scripts to build jails for Unifi and Crashplan, and largely follows the process that @dureal99d documented...

11.1-U5 Laundry Memory over 10G

I thought I had the issue with swap growth licked after making some adjustments but now the main processes seem to be eating tons of memory for no reason (it seems to be happening when the system is idle).

Check this:

Why is the GUI webserver eating so much swap?

And 10Gigs of Laundry? Is this normal? I'm not doing anything that weird on this machine... running plex and resilio sync to backup my stuff.

La risposta è questa. Non posso completare l'operazione perché non disponi dei privilegi necessari per accedere ad alcuni elementi,
Ho controllato i permessi e sono ok, ho provato aggiungere un utente ma stessa cosa, cosa posso fare?

What has happened to the FreeNAS roadmap?

Now that the bug tracker has migrated away from Redmine how can I determine when releases are due and what the outstanding issues are.

The old system was very clear, but unless I am not looking in the right place I don't see any way to get the info provided by the old system.

Hallo Leute,

ich hoffe jemand kann mir helfen, ich kämpfe schon seit Tagen an dieser Sache.

Ich habe unter VM eine RancherOS VM erstellt, geupdated und dann mit Rancher Server und Portainer (beides versucht) Pihole installiert. Ports freigegeben alles funktioniert wunderbar. Das HostOs hat eine feste IP bekommen und in der Fritzbox auch den Haken das sie immer die gleiche IP bekommt und Ports selbst verwaltet.

Am nächsten morgen ist Pihole und andere Container nicht mehr erreichbar...

Hi,

While I'm actually not a FreeNAS user, reading around the forum, I thought maybe this community would have some suggestions. Or should I ask at, say, unraid forums? I'm a bit overwhelmed and would be very appreciative of your suggestions.

Probably I have some basic confusions: I <think> I want neither JBOD nor RAID nor IT mode, but just additional ports directly connected to WIN10 (hopefully I'll also use same pc/hardware on a non-Windows OS in the years to come). Having searched here...

Would anyone kindly recommend a Non-Raid PCIe 3.0 card for 4 and/or 8 SATA III ports?

Hi guys, I have been lurking through this community and the FReeNAS forums for a while now. I read as many articles as I can, including the amazing guide by Cyberjock. I also played around with installing FreeNAS on an old computer and in a virtual machine. I by no means have the experience most of you have with FreeNAS, but I think it is time to start the build.

I am looking for advice on home security solutions that meet the following use cases. I have a FreeNAS server that I currently use as a Plex Media Server to stream movies and TV shows to my TVs in the house. It works well and I was hoping to leverage the same hardware/storage for home security. Hey,
I have a AVAGO 3108 MegaRAID controller, in JBOD mode.

I have attached 3 new drives, but they don't show up, as new drives, in FreeNAS.
I belive its because of the way the adapter works, that is has to MARK each drive as JBOD.

When using StorCLI, // - storcli /cx show all
Then I get all settings n such, and I get the drive list.

This is the setup i intend to use as a nas. Is the chip from the title ok and compatible? Should i prefer something like LSI SAS 9202?I heard that i must flash fitmware at IT mode in the 9207 chip or use the LSI 9202 firmware. I find them in the same price and 9207 is PCI express 3. I don't care for raid, just separate single volumes. All i care is for good tranfer speed...

Cloud Sync RClone Generated Config Files

I've got a problem and I want to resolve it in a very specific way that I'm sure people will find... silly :)

FreeNAS doesn't seem to use the "--fast-list" option for the cloud sync configs it generates, so, every sync is costing me around $0.30 using B2 block storage (there's a /lot/ of files and directories in every sync) even if I don't change any files, that is "no good".

I really wish there was a way to just say have an "extra arguments" section in the GUI, but I know I won't...

Advice on Mobo, CPU and memory for HW upgrade

I am upgrading my Mobo since I have AMD cpu and no ECC (please don't judge - that's what I'm fixing!) though it has been running well for about 5 years. I am looking for reasonable choices to avoid overpaying.

I will keep the following as they are working very well (don't have exact model numbers handy, but can get them if necessary):
  • Tower case with at least 8 drive bays and excellent cooling. ATX, mATX (don't remember brand)
  • Corsair 650 PSU (don't remember exact model)...

Newbie building a budget setup - A couple questions

Good afternoon everyone. I stumbled upon this great forum searching for a off the shelf NAS setup. Needless to say I wasn't happy with what I found and I started to piece together a setup.

Thanks to Chris Moore's advice on another thread, I have purchased the following (and keep in mind, ultra budget good deal stuff).

Supermicro X9SCM-F, Xeon E3-1220v2, 8GB ECC RAM (2x4gb) for $66 on ebay
2x Red 4tb NAS for about $55 and $65
1x HGST 4tb NAS for $53.
I have this old Rocketfish server...

Manual deluge installation - problem with rc file?

Trying to manually install Deluge in a jail--the plugin isn't installing and is giving an absolutely useless error message. So I create the jail and add mountpoints with:

SMART data; HBA/JBOD mode vs RAID mode w bunch of R0 arrays

Doing some testing with FreeNAS on my new server, I have a 3108 Controller (as well as a 3008 onboard). 3109 does JBOD mode as well as RAID mode. Tested with JBOD mode, SMART reporting works as it should; FreeNAS can see the disks exactly as they are. Placed it in RAID mode, made a bunch of R0 arrays. It's a LOT quicker. But, running smartctl reports information missing. Also of mention, I opted for the super-capacitor for the 3108, so it's cache is non-volatile..

All that said to ask...
