I have my homes share setup like so:

When I list my home directory in the shell I see all the files:

But when I browse to it in Windows, I only see hidden files:

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hey! first of all this is my first time here (and with FreeNas itself) so sorry in advance if this post is not supposed to be here.
I just built my first FreeNas system with these specs
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2300G
RAM: 1X8 GB HyperX kit (3200mhz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H
PSU: Corsair CX550M (550W)
Case: Sharkoon VS7 Window

one of my main purposes of building a nas was that i will use it as a cloud storage (becuase if i will compare price-per-time it will be much cheaper to build a nas...

Board (X9SCL-F), Chip (E3-1240 v2), and Ram (16gb) arrived today for my new build. I have the drives (3x 6TB Ironwolf Nas, 2x 1TB WD Green) already so it's time to turn my attention to the PSU. Was looking at a Seasonic but then I saw a well priced EVGA, the 650w GQ 210-GQ-0650-V1 80+ GOLD Modular, eco-mode. 650 of course is overkill, but <$60 new+delivered it's tempting. Checking the recommended hardware list I read:

My older NAS box is about to be retired however I need to drag about 16TB of data from it an over the current 100Mb NIC it is painful however the motherboard will take a commonly used 1Gb NIC. If I switch the NIC then am I likely to run into any issues?

So here is what I am trying to do: there are three vlans coming into freenas (10, 50, 60) and there are two jails running, one on vlan 10 (where the web gui also runs) and the other on vlan 60; vlan 50 is mostly unused aside from also being what the bmc is on. This is mostly working; I added the the vlans under networking, added static routes for physical lan and the two vlans in use and set vlan 10 to dhcp (static assignment) and the others to static ips. Hi everyone,

I just installed FreeNAS 11 and tried to go to plugins to install plex but it says no entry has been found under plugins.

I have also tried to put in my ipv4 address for my router and dns servers under the networking tab.

I am able to ping websites and my router though the shell.

System specs:

Motherboard: Supermicro X8DTE
CPU: Dual Intel X5650
RAM: 32GB ECC
LSI Raid card 9211-8i
Drives: 8x3TB WD Red in RaidZ2
Case: Supermicro SC933RT

How do I fix this, as I can't install...

I have created pools, I share over samba, connect to the share via Finder cd through /Volumes.

For every file I create I get permissions of "rwx"

eg.

echo "2" > t2.txt

ls -l
total 2048
-rwx------ 1 paul staff 2 Jul 23 12:50 t2.txt

Can anyone help?

Does anyone know about Klennet ZFS Recovery? I have not found anything significant about anyone using it. Looks promising, but I'd like to know that I'm not the first customer. I was not able to make it work, unless I provided an internet connection when first starting the evaluation copy.

Build FreeNAS-11.2-U5 Platform AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor
16gigs Ram
RAID0 with 4 drives
64bit mobo

For the life I can not seem to ping any sites within the GUI shell. Im certain that my plugins are not being populated is becasue of this. I am certain that I have my IP's correct and other pertinent info correct.

this is what I have:

in my router settings -
IP (gateway) 192.168.254.254
DNS Server 1: 8.8.8.8/ dns.google...

I'm been planning on building a FreeNAS box for almost 10 years. I bought a Norco RPC-3216 3U rackmount server case to start the project back in November 2009. It's been sitting collecting dust (a lot!) as well as a triple redundant power supply I shoved in it way back then. It's got an old Asus mobo (P5K?) in it and some drives that I haven't pulled out yet. I probably fired it up and played with it at one time (It's been 10 years!) but...

Simple question - just wondering if there's a need to restart any services or perhaps the whole system (egads I hope not) after changing SYNC on pool / dataset? FreeNAS 11.2-U5.

Didn't see anything in the docs or via a quick search here.

I moved the system dataset (along with the log and database) back to my main pool, but when I attempt to detach the old "system" volume I'm presented with this warning. I restarted the server thinking that may be the issue but got the same result. Is this something that can be ignored?

New Drives Not Visible

I recently shucked 4 new 10TB drives to add to my server. I am only able to see one of these in the GUI and also in the CLI. Any tips on how to help diagnose? I have tried different bays in my supermicro case but no difference. This is the model of the one drive that is visible: <ATA WDC WD10EFRX-68F 0A82>. The other 3 drives are the same model.
Also see the attached photo - this is from the LSI card during boot. It is only seeing one drive.

I have two Ultra Fit drives mirrored for my boot drive, one has "persistent errors" and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately I'm not on site and will need to walk someone else through the physical part of this. The Ultra Fit's have led indicators which should help identify the drive I remove from the mirror... can anyone here that uses these drives tell me the normal led status when the drive is active?

Also, in this image, is the chart displaying write errors?
