FreeNAS 11.2 & FreeIPA 4.6.4 - LDAP is confusing...

Can anybody direct me to some UP-TO-DATE docs or what not on setting up FreeNAS to use FreeIPA?

I keep getting the error uwsgi: [middleware.exceptions:36] [MiddlewareError: LDAP failed to reload.] when I try to setup the LDAP section in the Web UI.

The account info for the FreeNAS server to use:

Hi,

I'm have been happily running an internal hardware RAID5 (LSI 9260-8i) for almost 10 years with no data loss. First it was 4x 2TB, then 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x (online expansion is awesome!). Later I've upgraded to 5x 4TB, then 6x, 7x and finally (now) 8x 4TB (again using online expansion). I am aware of the risks involved with RAID5 on such large arrays and I have an (often outdated, but still...) offline backup to cater for this risk...
This is all inside my main desktop computer, which I turn...

need help setting up me home freenas

hi
I'm new to freenas and need help setting it up.
I installed the os 2 nights ago and had it all running well but was waiting on my hard drives. I installed my hard drives in the system today and moved it to its permanent location then booted it up the issue is it won't pick up my network and when I tell it manually it obtained the IP address of my home router so I can't log onto it from my pc to sett up my drives

specs
cpu: amd fx8350
mb: asrock 970 extreme r2.0
ram: 16gb (2x 8gb) hyperx...

Unable to Access Web Interface

I recently upgraded my FreeNAS system with a SSD boot drive rather than USB stick. Initially, I was able to access the web interface, but now I can't, and I haven't been able to figure out why.

The Freenas system shows in my router at the intended IP. FreeNAS states that the web interface is at the intended IP, and ifconfig confirms that the NIC is working.

What else should I be checking? The connection times out when I try to access web interface. I've tried a few different devices on my...

Many FIBs, issue SMB on the same network

Hi,

I'm sorry if, I'm in the wrong category.

I've just set up many fib (3). I'm going to explain my configuration.
1 pfsense (3vlans, 101, 102, 103) > Freenas (lacp, vlan 101, 102, 103)

I set up :
vlan101(mgmt) fib0 : 10.1.0.0/24, bound GUI, ssh, defaut gateway 10.1.0.254
vlan102(user) fib1 : 10.2.0.0/24, bound SMB, defaut gateway 10.2.0.254
vlan103(DMZ) fib2 : 10.3.0.0/24, bound jails, defaut gateway 10.3.0.254

My issue, is when I used smb. If, I am in other network 10.1 or 10.3...

Problem with permission

Hello, I have a problem with disk permissions. I have created users and groups. Each dataset has a designated group with permissions. However, something has started to go wrong for some time. The user x in the group with read / write rights to the given folder opens the document for read only. Nothing has changed in what can be a problem?

My FreeNAS Mini has been so reliable that I feel like I have forgotten much of what I knew about ZFS. I've had four 3TB drives for years and just bought two 8TB drives on Prime Day.

To get the full size expansion, I think I need to replace ada1 and ada3 (or ada2 and ada4). Is that right?

Salve a tutti. Hardware consigliato per Freenas è un HD di avvio minimo da 8GB. Quali sono le vostre configurazioni? Un SSD dove tenere Freenas e poi gli HD in Raid?
Fino ad oggi ho avuto Nas Netgear e Synology e per entrambi l'OS si installava sugli stessi HD in Raid.

Just updated to 11.2-U5 and attempted to install the plexmediaserver plugin:

Salve a tutti. Provengo da un'esperienza NAS Synology/Netgear e sono abituato ad avere degli applicativi/servizi disponibili con semplici installazioni.
A parte l'installazione e upgrade semplificato, quello che è interessante con questi sistemi proprietari (in particolare Synology) è quello di avere tantissime funzionalità subito disponibili (da attivare a parte).
Ora ho intenzione di cambiare NAS (dopo alcuni anni l'aggiornamento del DSM su Synology con vari applicativi all'attivo fanno...

Hi there,

We are setting up a new storage-server. On this server we have one big pool which contains all the data (Pool A). In pool A we created a data-set (Export) and bound data-set export to a NFS share.
This is all working as it should, but here comes the tricky part. Some folders in data-set Export needs to be compressed, to reduce disk-usage. So we wanted to create a new data-set in data-set Export, but when we try to access data in the compressed data-set, we hit I/O errors.

Redundant SLOG device?

Hi,

I've got a question about SLOG. I'm not sure if it has to be redundant. What I've read so far says, that it does not need to be redundant because if device fails, the ZIL just goes to the pool where it would be without SLOG anyways.
OK, but I never had a completely failing SSD so far. If I had a failing SSD it just resulted in corrupted file systems (ext4 or XFS) because apparantly corrupted data got written to the disk. If this happens to my SLOG, what is the result? Is data on SLOG...

Hello everyone,

I am very new to Freenas and have been reading and watching tutorials. I currently running 11.2 I have my Plex plugin working with my share media pool. I would like to get a torrent app working with Sonarr and Radarr along with the VPN I use PIA. I had deluge up but running a test torrent of Ubuntu wasn't going above 20kbs. I tried the qbittorent plugin and when going to the management it wouldn't load a webpage. I bet I'm missing something here. If anyone has some input or...

Bhyve jail autorestart if jail goes down?

Yesterday I was working within my bhyve Ubuntu VM, but came back this morning to see the VM had been stopped. I had to enter the FreeNAS GUI to restart the VM. I don't really understand how the VM was stopped overnight. Is there a way for FreeNAS to do this monitoring and automatically attempt to restart a VM if stopped? I think autostart only refers to starting the VM on boot.

Hello

I had an old laptop lying around and used to install freenas. Everything went fine with setting up untill I tried to share a drive. It just would not show up in windows explorer and even when I ran net use in cmd it can't find it. Wierdly enough, I can ping it throug cmd and if I create a unix share it does show up in the files application of ubuntu. I have been trying to fix this for almost 4 days now and I scoured almost the entire forums of IxSystems and stack overflow, but I can't...
