Error creating passphrase for pool lucky

I just created my first pool on a freshly installed freenas. FreeNAS-11.2-U4.

I have two 3TB disks that I wanted to have as encrypted mirrored pool.
After creating the pool, I tried to set a passphrase.
However, all I get is the error message "Error creating passphrase for pool lucky".

I tried the legacy webinterface too, just to see if anything is different, and that got me the error message

I've been testing FreeNAS on an old desktop for about a year, primary use is local file storage (documents, photos), local backup target for several client devices, as well as running a few plugins (obligatory Plex, still trying to work out Syncthing and Nextcloud). NextCloud and Database

Hello,
I installed the nextcloud plugin on my freenas 11.2U5.
Once installed, a window with the data relating to the installation and the database should appear.
Database data does not appear.
How can I solve the problem? without the database data I cannot complete the nextcloud configuration.

Hi, this is my first server build.

My hardware:
CPU: Intel Xeon E-2172
RAM: 32 GB Samsung REG 2666
MB: Supermicro X11SCL-F
HBA: LSI MegaRAID 9211-8i SAS
HDD: 6 x WD Red Nas 4TB
SSD: 1 x Intel 80GB

The LSI card was given to me and should already be in IT mode.

I checked that the MB BIOS was the most recent, which it is.

The LSI card sits in the PCI-E x8 (in x16) slot

I don't know what BIOS settings to change, I think I've tried the most common things, like changing from Legacy to EFI and...

I've been messing with Freenas on and off for almost a year. After going down the Inverted triangle of doom - I shy'ed away from a glusterfs 2 node replica +arbiter - (The cost just wasn't justified with doing massive duplication efforts, which was just plain stupid for home lab).

I was 95% settled into a Primary & Backup Freenas - 2x HP DL380 G8 - Optane 900 Slog, 12x 4TB Ironwolf. - I could get 500MB/S to 600MB/S up/down - and with the slog for my VM's - the numbers were even better with...

PowerEdge T20, New ECC Ram causing crash

I recently upgraded the ram in my PowerEdge T20 32 GB of ECC RAM.

With the stick that the server came with (4GB) the system is completely stable, but after installing the ram, I see frequent system reboots. The reboots happen with FreeNAS as well as a few other linux distros that I have tried.

I tried each ram stick individually in the hopes to isolate one and the reboots happen with all of the new sticks. With the old stick, the system is completely stable.

Hi everyone,
I've had a couple sleepless nights, so I'm hoping to get some clarity...
A couple of days ago, my FreeNAS pool went into a degraded state. Looking at zpool status, one disk showed that it was removed and several had "too many errors." These were all in the oldest vdevs of my system, plus they were all on the chassis backplane (Rosewill) as opposed to the DS4243s the newer disks are sitting in. Long story short, I narrowed it down to the backplane and moved the disks to spare...

So, I have a Freenas 11.2 install ... was with Raid z2 ... Core i3 8 GB RAM... was running just fine and then today I get an error:

NFSD Cache

Running FreeNas 11.2U5, serving ISCSI and NFS from 12 2TB Samsung 850's, mirrored. Performance is generally excellent.
ISCSI to VMware is flawless.
However, NFS is struggling - serving to various Redhat clients from EL3 through to EL8, using either NFS3, 4 or 4.1 - depending on client support.
Previously this was handled by a nexenta machine which occassionally also had nfs hiccups.

Our issue? The Cache keeps filling to rediculous levels.

I setup a fresh FreeNAS box and I cannot get NZBget to install or work.
I've tried every guide I could possibly find, and pieced together what looks like something that should work:

First time writing something up like this so forgive how poorly written and organized. I have been struggling getting a news reader off warden into iocage and to be fully functional. This seems to have done it.

This version is a lot different than the old warden plugin. I think the issues were mostly:
  • Can't get to web gui unless you edit .ini
  • Different user group ID than 816 than legacy version
  • Mount points I had to do 1 to 1. On old version i got away with just...

Hallo zusammen.
ich habe mir vor ein paar jahren einen freenas server gebaut.
das system war auf einer sd karte die in einem usb stick vorne im rechner steckte.
ich habe den server lange nicht benutzt und nach dem umzug finde ich die sd karte nicht wieder.

habe ich irgend eine möglichkeit das system wieder zum laufen zu bekommen und auf die daten zu zu greifen?

ich habe 5x 1TB hdds verbaut.
ich weiß aber noch nicht mal wie die konfiguration war.:rolleyes:

Ich habe mir ein NAS aufgesetzt und ich kann mit dem iPhone darauf zugreifen und was machen auf die Einstellung komme ich auch im Browser unter Windows nur im Explorer ist es nicht zu sehen. Ich habe alles probiert das mit dem smb 1 auch. Am ersten Tag war der NAS noch da dann war er weg und seit dem geht nur noch das Handy

I'm looking for a compatible rackmount 1U storage server I could use with freenas. Do you have any recommendation. This is a pretty low level usage for 20 users max and 4-10TB of data. Any idea is welcome. I'm looking preferably for hardware with a public price.

Hey all! I'm Shiggitay from Boston, MA! I have an Intel Core i7 3770k-based system running FreeNAS for Plex and other stuff, and it's working really nicely. I'm having an issue setting up CAs and Certificates in general, but I'll look around the forums to see if anyone has the same issues as I do.

Mac clients connecting to FreeNAS - Which dataset share type

Hi,

I am quite new to FreeNAS so apologize if that question has already been answered but I couldn't find anything related to it.
I have a network of 80% Mac clients and 20% Windows clients and I am wondering which "share type" option I should use.

I am sharing using Samba protocol only, knowing AFP will be gone soon. AFP is therefore Off.
I am using at the moment Windows share type.
I am guessing "Mac" share type is for AFP protocol but I might be wrong.

Failed Drive replaced with Hot Spare sill showing Pool DEGRADED

Just had a data drive fail. The Hot Spare kicked in. The good drive was resilvered without errors. However, the pool is still showing as DEGRADED. What additional steps do I need to take?

I did try to put /dev/gptid/a7296f03-9690-11e9-ac10-3cfdfecf5af8 OFFLINE. It's currently OFFLINE now as show before. Do I need to power down and remove the drive? Or is there something else I need to do?

Good Afternoon all. A noob Question for you. I have read through previous posts and sort of read the docs, so I *think* I have got the procedure right but I would much rather check before screwing the whole thing up.

I have a 60gb Kingston ssdNOW drive sitting in the draw doing nothing so I thought it would be better used as the boot drive in my NAS. From my (very bad) memory the current one is a nameless 16gb drive I picked up somewhere.

Hi I have a FreeNAS box that i want to use fo my movies and TV Recordings I also have a box that converts Freeview TV into htsp fo local streaming.So i googled and couldnt find any info and before you say it use Emby or Plex i aint paying for any of those. So i creted a FreeNAS 11.2 Jail and typed
