Hi, I have always had this issue, I'm not sure why.
Usually, it'll settle with a few restarts, but this time nothing works.

I can access the webgui via the IP address. But when I put the same in File Explorer, it doesn't read.
When I key in the hostname, the popup comes to ask username and password. I key in the same ID which I login at webgui, but shows incorrect.

Hope someone here could assist.

I am running 4x Seagate 2TB ST2000DM008 drives and noticed that FreeNAS doesn't report the temperature when viewing the reporting tab of FreeNAS GUI (FreeNAS-11.1-U7). Is this normal behavior for some drives? I do however have SMART configured to send me notifications if the drives reach a critical temperature but nothing on he reporting tab. Now I am starting to wonder if that even works since I never received a notification and I am sure those drives have reached the threshold I've set in...

I tried reading Methods for Fine Tuning Samba Permissions...but quite frankly, I don't understand any of it and certainly can't figure out whether/how any of it pertains to my situation. It seems to assume way too much prior knowledge.

I have a samba share, it works beautifully on windows, but when I try to access it on linux, it shows all files as 700 (rwx------) permission, owned by me, and my group.

I have been using the Java-based jviewer to remote control my ASRock Rack C2550D4I motherboard. It has been working fine (with some quirks) over the years.

Recently, I upgraded to macOS Catalina (currently on version 10.15.2) and since then I can launch jviewer but I get a blank / black screen and it says [0 fps] in the console.

I've setup AD in my LAN and decided to try joining my freenas system into AD. While configuring the freenas system permission and account creation somehow the plugins and jails didnt like that. I've spent days on troubleshooting the issues. Id like to reinstall freenas on new USB but how can i add the drive with the data back without losing data? Is there any harm in mixing air/helium drives that are otherwise identical? I have 12x8TB Reds with the same model number, but half of them are air filled and the other half helium.

If I do mix them, and use two 6x8TB vdevs, should I put all of the air filled drives in one vdev or mix and match evenly?

Hi,
I was upgrading a RAID-Z1 pool of 3x 2 TB disks when ... I don't know. But that went bad. Probably a power issue for the disks. I had to reboot.
Then, FreeNAS reported the pool as FAILED.
I plugged back the old disk.
I tried a zfs import -fF and apparently corrected the pool, went back online, no errors, scrubbed ok, etc.

But I still can't access the content. I see the structure in the GUI (with jails, iocage, and the main dataset for the data). But everything related is not working...

So today I logged into my FreeNAS console to realize that I'm a version behind and didn't receive an update notification. I clicked the "check for updates" on the dashboard, but was greeted with the error below:

a while ago (april 2014, according to my own posts here in this forum) I made a freenas out of an old mac pro.

never had problems, running 24/7 since then, no disk fail but I feel now it's time to replace the thing:
the 3 mirrored 4gb wd reds are old and the power consumption of those dual xeons just will not go down by itself anytime soon...

I've thought for a while that it would be nice to set up a reverse proxy in a jail to give easier access to many of the other apps I have installed in jails, without having to remember their port numbers. And it would be nice for the sake of security if it did TLS termination as well. Fortunately, Caddy is designed to do exactly this with a minimum of configuration.

Hi Grurus,
I have upgraded my freenas from 9.10 Stable to 11.2-U7 and got to my new web dashboard. In 9.10 I had only one Plugin "Plex Media Server - 1.5.5.3634.
Now in new upgraded version 11.2-U7, I wanted to upgrade my Plex but it gives message: "Note: Legacy plugins created before FreeNAS 11.2 must be managed from the legacy web interface.". From the legacy interface, it only allow to delete the plugin but not give any option to either update or show any new plugins.

Can someone advise...

So I did the update to Freenass last night, and the Gui interface is now not operating properly.. When I click on anything on the dashboard Nothing happens, It doesn't snap into another page or anything..

Hi guys, I have a supermicro to use as backup storage server.
The board is an LSI3008 HBA, that should be OK, i'm already using it with success on other machines.

The question is: which raid level should I use ? RAID-Z2 ? RAID10 ?

Performance is not an issue (obviously, it should not "sit" on every backup that I run) but data-loss is. It's a backup, but as we all know , if you loose the backup server, in that precise time, you'll have issue on primary server
