Warden and iocage jails

I have a Plex jail created in Freenas 9x. Now in Freenas 11.2u8, I haven't been able to update plex unless I create plex in iocage. I have over 4k movies and about 300 TV shows. I have looked at videos on how to create iocage jails for plex, but no videos on how to tranfer or migrate all of my media safely. I have 1 question, can I create a Plex jail in iogage with the same mnt points as the plex in warden jail.

I apologize for my ignorance. I actually worked with UNIX (and CPM) systems about 35 years ago. I can say, it's not quite like riding a bike, but I do remember snippets of things as I'm starting my journey into Linux. I'm enjoying this path of discovery immensely, but I'm afraid having a job with long hours and a wife and daughters that demand my time mean I just need to find out how to get things done. Hi,

so I am a newbie when it comes to NAS and RAID,

I tried searching, but I couldn't find much.

So, when building my machine people told me to just do it in RAID 1, that way my files will be safe and it makes sense, so I did it, and I knew that out of 2 x 4TB HDDs I'll be able to use only 3,8TB or so, I was fine with that, now I'm kind of regretting it because I am at 82% used already,



so I would like to know if it is possible to "unraid" (haha), my HDDs, so that 1 still has all...

Is it possible to change RAID configuration

Migrate to new boot disk

Hi,

I want to switch to use a usb flash drive instead of an SD card to boot freenas 11.

I have backed up my freenas.

what is the easiest way to migrate?

can I safely remove the sd card while freenas is running? Dd copy to the new usb. Then insert the usb and reboot?

they are different sizes so my be easier to install a fresh copy of freenas and restore the config to it from the backup?

advice needed to make this as quick and easy as possible.

Hi, I finally switched from a windows file server, which worked very smooth to a freenas system. I am not a totally noob, but rather unexperienced with freenas. I build up a system with DELL R720xd and changed the controller to a Dell PERC H710 mini mono LSI P20 it mode.

Everything works fine for a while. After about 3 days of running and files copying onto the Dell maschine, it was not available on the webgui, nor on the machine itself. After rebooting, it told me, that the zfs pool...

Hi,

I have recently set up a bare metal FreeNAS server, configured everything and put data on the system. The version I have used was 11.2 U2. I have created a passphrase and downloaded the geli.key file.

Since then, I have moved to a 11.3 U1 on a VM. I have loaded the config file upon finishing the installation, reworked the network interface slightly and gained access to the web interface. The pools are displayed properly, the disks show up as ada0-ada3 as they were on the bare metal...

Hi everybody,
I tried FreeNAS few years ago and build a setup especially to run FreeNAS 8 and 9.
I would like to update to FreeNAS 11 to enjoy the new UI and other cool stuffs but...
I cannot install FreeNAS 11 and I don't know where is the problem.

Somebody could help?

My config :
Motherboard : ASRock Q1900DC-ITX
CPU : Intel® Quad-Core Processor J1900 (2 GHz) 64bit capable
RAM : 2 x 4 GB SO-DIMM DDR3 1333Mhz (Crucial)
Hard Drive : WesternDigital Red 2TB

During the installation, nothing...

Updated ZM to v1.32.3

Alright...I updated ZM on two different iocage jails and after updating I ran into this issue...'Unable to connect to ZM db.SQLSTATE[HY000] [1045] Access denied for user 'zmuser'@'localhost' (using password: YES)'. I've spend 8+ hours trying to reset the password, reinstall mysql or the db...doing a lot of stuff that didn't work.

Then, I saw in the logs the zmuser wasn't the right user...it was now trying to use dbuser...that didn't make sense.

Boot Memtest: banging head against wall

Hello--

Im trying to boot from a USB stick that I installed memtest onto. Here's what I've done several times without success:
Download pre-compiled bootable ISO
Use dd to copy ISO image to USB
Insert USB to Freenas box
Enter boot menu options; select USB device with memtest
Fail

Sorry if this is such a boneheaded question...but I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't boot memtest to run some tests! ;)

Haha, not really a question in this. Went through the process of changing the server and all seemed to go well... until nothing worked when I was done. I could see my install on the right IP and on my custom sub-domain but it wasn't responsive. After triple checking I decided to have a look at https://status.plex.tv/ and wouldn't you know, the API system went down while I was making the change. So, it isn't always something you did ;)

I'm a N00B at FreeNAS. I am trying to setup access to my FreeNAS Server from my Windows machines. Taking it slowly and trying to setup one access at time to make sure I don't skip anything. But 'something' has gone wrong and I can't figure it out. So many others have posted here in the forums, but the screen shots they show don't match what I see on my screen (Missing fields, or Renamed fields). I am sure I missed something simple along the way, but can't seem to see it. So I am hoping...

Hi,
my freeNAS (11.2 U6) was not responding lately, i also had this alert:
"Boot Pool Status Is ONLINE: One or more devices has experienced an error resulting in data corruption. Applications may be affected."

The data corruption seems to be on the usb-boot-drive, so i stored my config and prepared for a reinstallation of freeNAS on a new usb-stick. But before i do that (because i am currently waiting for the new usb drive to arrive via mail) i wanted to see if updateing the system from...

I am planning a build for my first NAS system for home use. As I read info on this site and others I waver between high quality and trying to stay in a budget. This is the current list of specs I'm considering. Would appreciate any feedback. I plan to use it mostly for backing up up my computers (PC and Mac) and a media streaming server.

It seems like there are lot of guides here on installing Nextcloud, and a number of people reporting problems with many of them. So, I figured, why not write another one? This is inspired by the work of @kjake in his scripts to build jails for Unifi and Crashplan, and largely follows the process that @dureal99d documented...

Multiple interfaces and shared IPs

My network setup looks as following:

GUI interface is at igb1 - 172.16.0.9.
igb2 is used as shared IPs NIC for jails, therefore it doesn't have assigned any IP - otherwise it won't accept jails IP assignment/alias. I don't know how or I'm not able to setup vlans following instructions in online manual. It simply doesn't work with jails (and maybe with Unifi hardware).
