I have several replication tasks. There are two pools where the replication happens, one internal and one external. Both the internal and external pools are switched on by demand (the internal pools is a Dell PowerVault external HDD enclosure where the pools is imported by hand and the second pools is a N54L with FreeNAS-11.3-U1).

Both pools have the problems that the main FreeNAS does not realize that the pools become available and remains stuck with the error message that the pool is not...

Multiple interfaces and shared IPs

My network setup looks as following:

GUI interface is at igb1 - 172.16.0.9.
igb2 is used as shared IPs NIC for jails, therefore it doesn't have assigned any IP - otherwise it won't accept jails IP assignment/alias. I don't know how or I'm not able to setup vlans following instructions in online manual. It simply doesn't work with jails (and maybe with Unifi hardware).

Hello,

I am trying to use the script https://github.com/danb35/freenas-iocage-nextcloud but running into some issues setting up my ddns.

Followed the prerequisites, I registered a domain name at EasyDNS, I then setup Cloudflare, told EasyDNS to use Cloudflare for DNS for my domain. Next I signed up for DNS-O-Matic and configure it to update your Cloudflare DNS .

At this point, since I don't have a static IP, which one of these do I setup a DDNS at ? It was super simple at No-IP...

Wireguard & Jail access from remote

I was able to configure wireguard on freenas and i am able to reach its internal IP, however i am not able to reach nextcloud jail IP, i am new to freebsd any help much appreciated,

Pleas note that wireguard is not in jail, so what do we have here

WG0 interface
Client1 10.66.66.3 > 10.66.66.1 Freenas

Local network
Freenas 192.168.2.46
Nextcloud jail 192.168.2.48

Hi,

I'm trying to install the non-premium plex plugin and I keep getting the following error message:

Hi,
my freeNAS (11.2 U6) was not responding lately, i also had this alert:
"Boot Pool Status Is ONLINE: One or more devices has experienced an error resulting in data corruption. Applications may be affected."

The data corruption seems to be on the usb-boot-drive, so i stored my config and prepared for a reinstallation of freeNAS on a new usb-stick. But before i do that (because i am currently waiting for the new usb drive to arrive via mail) i wanted to see if updateing the system from...

My freenas tested with iperf3 and I encountered uploads of up to 10G, but when iperf3 added the parameter -R, it was only about 5G when downloading. In the same network environment, my upload and download between win10 and win10 can normally reach 10g. The network card is inter x520-da2. Make sure it is plugged into pcie3.0 x4. Mount folder to Jail

Hi,

I am trying to mount a folder into a official Jail but something is preventing me from doing it.

Here is what i do
  1. Add jail from "plugin" section (Which by the way gets stuck at 75% until i refresh the page)
    The jail is now running and i can shell into it and everything seems fine
  2. I try to add a mount point into it and receive this message "jailName cannot be running when adding a mountpoint." Fair enough.
  3. I go back to the list of jails and look...

I've thought for a while that it would be nice to set up a reverse proxy in a jail to give easier access to many of the other apps I have installed in jails, without having to remember their port numbers. And it would be nice for the sake of security if it did TLS termination as well. Fortunately, Caddy is designed to do exactly this with a minimum of configuration.

Server read cache does not work

Ask about 32g memory, 3 12t for raidz, 7200 RPM hard disk, and copy 15g files under the 10 Gigabit network. The speed of copying to win10 is only 400MB. It seems that the memory read cache does not work, but it can reach 1g when the same file is overwritten and copied for the second time. Why does the read cache not work when copying for the first time? But write cache seems to work every time!!

Hardware acceleration with FreeBSD and Emby is currently not working. Since it doesn't work in FreeBSD, it certainly won't work in FreeNAS.

alert level is not passing to alert service.

Hi guys, I'm trying to configure influxdb alert service to process alerts and it turned out, that the severity of the alert is not passing to the database. All CRITICAL, ERROR, WARNING and other alerts are delivered with the same INFO severity. I checked this with other handlers. email and OpsGenie also don't pass through the severity of the alert. How can I get it passed to the alert service?

This is more of a theoretical question, but lets assume the freenas box has some impressive hardware, and is on a 100GbE connection, with a dozen clients on 10GbE connections writing to it, in bursts.

Spinning rust can't handle that speed even if we're talking 48 drives in an array. SLOG doesn't exactly seem like it'd do much either here? What options are there? Some sort of pending write cache?

Hi,

I am struggling to figure out whether the error above, which I'm seeing from two different cabled Windows clients, is being caused by something I've done wrong when setting up my FreeNas system
  • HP Proliant ML10 Gen9
  • Intel Pentium G4400 CPU
  • 32GB ECC RAM (Crucial)
  • 4x WD Red 6TB Drives in Raidz
  • Network card identified as Intel i219 (built-in NIC)
