Asigra backup guide?

It seems that iX is really pimping the Asigra plugin (blog post), but I haven't seen a comprehensive guide anywhere on how to go from "basic FreeNAS system" to "Asigra installed, running, and backing up your data". Is there one that I'm missing?

From what I can see so far, the process looks like:
  • Install the plugin
  • Add storage to the plugin (where? Or does it matter?)
  • Register the plugin, requiring use of a company...

Sooo, I was doing some admin stuff on my freenas server at home, aiming to make and connect an SMB share. Should be straight forward, but wasn't, so after getting annoyed, and wanting to ask for help, I checked for updates first, because update before asking help right, or it's going to be the #1 reply? So I updated to the newest freenas version (11.3 I think?). Another 2 hours of trial and error, still not working. So now I was quiet annoyed. And yes, that's the time to go to bed, and...

Hard drives that write data in overlapping, "shingled" tracks, have greater areal density than ones that do not. For cost and capacity reasons, manufacturers are increasingly moving to SMR, Shingled Magnetic Recording. SMR is a form of PMR (Perpendicular Magnetic Recording). Hey guys, Today I managed to setup a working Rsync connection between my FreeNAS and NETGEAR ReadyNAS servers. I shot a detailed video of all the steps. FYI, in my scenario, I am using my FreeNAS as the Rsync source (push) and the NETGEAR as my archive server. (or a remote mirror site).

I am new to the same, and so when I searched I couldn't able to find exact steps between FreeNAS and NETGEAR. Instead I was able to get the FreeNAS<>FreeNAS guide or NETGEAR<>NETGEAR official documentation...

Hi all,

I'm having some trouble with a cloud sync task on 11.3. For context, I'm trying to backup some nextcloud files & database with a cloud sync task. The cloud sync task fails when the instance is in use, however this can be remedied by putting the instance into maintenance mode. It seems like the cloud sync task pre and post scripts would be a good solution, execute a fairly simple command before:

NFS Share does not show any sub-folders

I admit I am new to Linux, so something probably very simple need to be done.

I want to share whole pool which has about 10 datasets in it.

I created share, listed pool as item to share.
I did mark it as Read-Only. All setups shown in pictures.

My intent is simple. I just want another Linux client to have RO access to be able to backup files from FreeNAS

What I see is my share. I see all datasets inside of it (so it does connect!)
But I don't see any files inside of datasets. Must be...

Bonjour à tous ,

Je demande de l'aide sur mon serveur Freenas qui tourne depuis de nombreuse années .
J'ai entrepris un upgrade de disque pour le faire évoluer , celui-ci s'applique à 2 disques en Raid1.

2*1To , je passe à 2*3To . J'ai changé les disques 1 à la fois et en attendant que la copie des données se "synchronise" .

Tout va bien , le seul et gros problème est que la taille de l'espace disque est encore de "1to"

Hi FreeNAS community !!

I am a FreeNAS newbie, looking forward to build a cheap FreeNAS-driven NAS system, ideally built around an ORICO 3.5" 8-Bay USB 3.1 Type-C Hard Drive Enclosure (Model NS800C3 : http://my.orico.cc/goods.php?id=6531).

So far, Orico helpdesk certified that an external OS can see 8 distinct hards disks in the enclosure, making it therefore manageable by a FreeNAS driving OS to create a RAID volumes. Nevertheless, I still do not know:

How to mount FreeNAS NFS paths into a rancherOS docker container? - Bitwarden

So I'm wanting to use a local bitwarden (password management software) backend on my FreeNAS for the obvious reasons of the encrypted data being handled locally. Specifically, my problem is that once I have my host up and running bitwarden, I can't seem to mount a freeNAS path to the "/data" directory.

So, here is what I've done:
  • Created a rancherOS VM - Success
  • Setup a basic host in rancher
  • Added bitwarden (docker run -d --name bitwarden -v /bw-data/:/data/ -p 80:80...

I am liking FreeNAS 11.3, the interface is clean and easy to use. I upgraded from 11.2 yesterday online, and made a new pool (I wanted to anyway, I could have kept my old one). Currently moving data back on to the new one.

I like that datasets now aren't "Windows" or "Unix"; I was able to set up SSH public key authentication from Linux Mint and Samba from Windows 10 easily. I have both to back up to my server.

Also, the Fractal Design Node 804 case is my favorite FreeNAS case, it's...

Hi All,

I've got myself a FreeNAS system, but this post is not relating to that system. It runs well.

I've got a question relating a standard RAID setup using a Perc 5i RAID Controller.

Specs:

Intel i7 2700k
16GB 1600Mhz RAM
OS Drive - Crucial MX500 500GB SSD
RAID Physical Drives - 4 x WD Black (2010) drives with about 2-3yrs of usage previously in a RAID5
RAID Controller - Dell Perc 5i RAID Controller w/ 128MB RAM Cache (battery is dead)

Configuration is in a screenshot attached but...

Mein Windows 2019 Server, sowie das heute eingerichtete FreeNAS befinden sich im VLAN 200.
Mein Arbeitsplatz Rechner befindet sich im VLAN 100.
Da vorher genau mit gleicher Konstellation ein QNAP-NAS in Betrieb war kann ich ein Firewall Berechtigungsproblem ausschließen.

Wenn ich nun z. B. via UNC auf FreeNAS zugreifen möchte soll ich einen User eingeben, obwohl genau dieser User schon in FreeNAS eingerichtet wurde. (Der komplette gleiche wie in Windows. \\192.168.2.2

Time Machine issue on 11.3

Since updating from 11.2 to 11.3 my mac (latest Catalina release) isn't able to backup to the time machine share anymore. The backup dialogue shows the following error: "the network backup disk does not support the required capabilities". I've already tried several things like deleting and recreating the share. The smb4.conf file does not contain a "fruit:time machine = yes" line. As soon as i reboot with the 11.2 version, time machine backups works like a charm. Does anyone have an idea...

How to install MiniDLNA into a FreeNAS 9.3, 9.10.x., 11.x (original GUI & New GUI) Jails (warden and iocage).

It appears that FreeNAS has no plans to incorporate a simple DLNA server for FreeNAS 9.3 and later so this thread contains detailed instructions to install MiniDLNA in a jail, your other option is to use Plex which does have a very good built in DLNA server.
