Pool showing offline after reboot.

I updated my FreeNAS server last week to 11.3-U2.1. After the reboot one of my storage pools started to show offline.
Now I see these error and can no longer access the data that was on the drives. The two drives are Mirrored.

Is there a way I can save the data and fix my drives?

These files can be harmful to your computer

When I try to move files, I get the message "These files may be harmful to your computer." How to configure the freenas network settings so that this message is not displayed? I had Synology and there was no such message. The files are secure because it is an empty folder

Unmaximising the browser window makes the menu disappear

I have a question regarding the UI. When I open up the GUI on a maximised browser window there is the left navigation that can be hidden with a small “Toggle Collapse” button. When I unmaximise the browser window, the left menu disappears (which is okay, there is less screen real estate available). It keeps being accessible via the “Burger Menu”, though.

However, if the screen is maximised again, the UI changes to a two-column layout and the left menu doesn't show up again. And I cannot...

Resilvering Progress Keeps Resetting

I had a drive in a pool which started throwing checksum errors, so I decided to initiate a replace with a spare from the GUI.

The resilvering process has been running for almost two days, (it's a 1TB drive), which I guess is to be somewhat expected. However, whenever I check the status it keeps fluctuating up and down. Below for example is the current status:

Hello,

First i want to say I apologize if this is the wrong section, i wasn't sure if this was more a Jail inquiry or a networking one.. but here is the deal. I have an ESXi host running a FreeNAS VM for quite some time using PCI passthrough and an HBA card -> everything has been working great. I have plex running inside a Jail on the FreeNAS box and again its worked perfectly fine.

FreeNAS: 11.3-U2.1
VMware: ESXi 6.5
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1225v2
Memory: 32Gb DDR3
Motherboard: Gigabyte...

I’ve read at various places that ZFS doesn’t play well with USB, as it’s designed for permanently attached drives, etc.
The details as to why were however always rather thin, from what I can find.

What is the issue: the removable nature of USB (which would equally apply to Thunderbolt), or fundamental flaws in USB itself?

Thing is, I know what kind of system I’d like to build eventually, but right now that’s not an option.

So the idea would be to attach something like this...

Overview:
My FreeNAS SMB shares can't seem to be written to normally from Windows 10 desktop via the 10Gb network (1Gb is fine). Reading FROM those share works great on both connections.

Detailed Explanation:
I have FreeNAS (v11.2 U7) installed as a VM on a ESXi host (6.7 U3 in case it matters). The main "VM Network" is run off one of the 2 1Gb motherboard Intel NICs. My "10G Network" is via an installed Aquantia AQN-100-104-SFA PCIe card. The FreeNAS VM has 2 vNICs (VMXNET...

I'm in the early stages of planning my next FreeNAS server build and I'm strongly leaning toward going the virtualization route (using an ASRock X470D4U with an M1015 and possibly a PCIe Intel quad port NIC passed through to the FreeNAS VM). My goal is to replace my current main "X10" server (see sig), which in turn would become my secondary backup server. The plan is that in the event that something happens to the new "X470" server, I should be able to just move the disks back to my X10...

What's all the noise about HBA's, and why can't I use a RAID controller?

There seems to be an uptick of this question, so.

1) An HBA is a Host Bus Adapter.

This is a controller that allows SAS and SATA devices to be attached to, and communicate directly with, a server. RAID controllers typically aggregate several disks into a Virtual Disk abstraction of some sort, and even in "JBOD" or "HBA mode" generally hide the physical device. If you cannot see the type of device (such as "ST6000DX000-1H217Z" in "camcontrol devlist", you DO NOT HAVE A TRUE HBA...

Quickest way to backup everything?

I've been trying to find a quick way to backup all the FreeNAS necessities.

From what I've found, that would be:
- FreeNAS config file
- Jails
- Datasets set outside of iocages

Issues:
- Rsync files to a cloud is not secure, and encrypting it isn't necessary for local backup.
- Replicate a dataset to an SMB folder will cause file permission issues as the files aren't permitted to other local users.
- Backing up each jail individually requires to stop the jail, and the zip path can't...

Quickest way to backup everything?

Nextcloud managepage leads to nginx

I have freshly installed freenas, and started to add the nextcloud plugin. I have created a dataset where I have added the mountpoint to it also. When starting the plugin and trying to open the management page of nextcloud I get the plain old 'Welcome to nginx!' page and that is it. I get no error messages of any sort.
Maybe someone has experienced something like it, and knows what the solution is?

TL;DR Need to install steam games on an other pc than the ony i'm playing with and windows sharing isn't cutting it

Hello, i'm a bit new in the server world and i was refered by a person on an other forum. So Basically, i need to build a NAS that will be used to only Store files and games, i want to be able to install steam on any machines plugged to my network and be able to just add a Steam library to the setting and not having the games taking space directly on my gaming pc.

sshd openpam errors in log after replication

On my backup system where my data gets replicated to, I keep getting these errors in the logs after every replication from my main system:

Apr 26 00:16:09 backupnas sshd[20644]: in openpam_check_error_code(): pam_sm_setcred(): unexpected return value 12

Anyone know what's going on? Replications do succeed.

Setting tunables at time of install

Hi all,

I have a system that I have recently installed on a WD 2.5" SSD. After initial boot, I receive warnings that the boot pool is degraded and there are checksum errors when checking the status of the boot pool. This appears to be known issue on some SSDs, and can be avoided (worked around) by setting the loader tunable vfs.zfs.trim.enabled=0 to disable TRIM on the drive. However, this does nothing post-install.

Accessing "manage" for plugins

Hi everyone,

I was hoping someone could shed some light or provide any assistance in a little problem I am having. The primary issue is that I am unable to view the "manage" tool for a plugin once I select it. Depending on the plugin, I get a different error. I will provide attachments of the imagery.

PLEX plugin when clicking "manage": a browser tab opens with "this page isn't working, ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE"

11.3 U2.1. Time Machine share crashes smbd

Hi,

I've spent the morning trying to figure out what's happening and I'm stuck.

I've been using freenas as a time machine backup server since 11.0. It was working fine definitely in 11.1 and 11.2. Sometime after upgrading to 11.3, time machine backups seem to have been silently failing so I started investigating.

I noticed that normal shares seem to work fine, but whenever I start a time machine backup, smbd panics gets relaunched repeatedly:
