TrueNAS 12 Final not showing my disks in WebUI

Hello ! It's my 1st post on this forum.

I have succesfully installed many times FreeNAS 11.2, or 11.3. But i recently tried to install the new 11.3U2 and even TrueNAS 12 Final, but for both i can't find my 2 1 To WD Enterprise disks on the webUI... It's really strange cause i retried the older versions and i've been able to see my disks and create a pool.

But i can find my disk using the shell. Check out my attached pictures.

I am trying to import a zfs pool from a linux operating system that is using flags that is not supported in Freenas. I tried to force import and got the below message:
This pool uses the following feature(s) not supported by this system: org.zfsonlinux:userobj_accounting (User/Group object accounting.)
All unsupported features are only required for writing to the pool. The pool can be imported using '-o readonly=on'.
cannot import 'tanker': unsupported version or feature

I then tried the...

How to access multiple NICs from a plugin in a Jail

I am running FreeNAS-11.3-U2.1 on the system listed in my signature. I have a Jail setup running the BackupPC plugin v11.2-RELEASE-p15.

I have added a Chelsio N320E 10GbE NIC to the FreeNAS server and my main Win10 PC to make a direct peer-to-peer connection alongside my existing 1Gb network (via a Gigabit unmanaged switch). The idea is to give me a faster connection from my PC to the FreeNAS for backups.

I can access a share on the FreeNAS from my PC and copy files over the 10Gb network...

Telegraf monitoring

Hi all,

I am currently trying to get telegraph working on my FreeNAS but I get a little bit upset. I configured it well and every metric I want came fine (CPU, disks, du, net, ...) but when I want to use the inputs.exec to handle my UPS info, things get annoying.

The binary is installed by hand in /opt/telegraf because the telegraf pkg is not available. With this binary is the config file, an init file and the script I want to use.
The init script looks like (Taken from a reddit thread) ...

Hi,

This post covers different topics so excuse me if I shouldn't post here.

I want to build a proxmox infrastructure with the FreeNAS storage unit.
I am a beginner with these FreeNAS and ZFS / RAIDZn subjects.
I need performance and storage for around 40 virtual machines.

For the FreeNAS server, I choice for moment this configuration:

Dell R740 with :
  • Dual Intel Xeon Silver 4208 2.1G, 8C/16T, 9.6GT/s, 11M Cache, Turbo, HT (85W) DDR4-2400
  • Dual 32GB RDIMM, 2933MT/s => 64G (I...

Missing smb4.conf on fresh install

Hi,

I did a fresh install of FreeNAS 11.2-U5 and then upgraded to 11.2-U6.

I'm tyring to get SMB and Domain Controller services to start but every time I try either, it fails to start the service.

Looking in the logs it's because /usr/local/etc/smb4.conf is missing. Is this normally the case for a fresh install?

I tried changing some of the settings in the SMB service configuration page to see if it would force a re-create of the file but it doesn't.

I've scoured the docs and Google to...

Lost access to SMB share "Permission Denied"

Hi, I am relatively new to Freenas (11.3) and currently having some difficulties accessing a windows share. Initially I had setup a SMB share and was able to connect to it via my Ubuntu client. Also successfully tested connection from a windows 7 machine. After copying my data across to the share I decided to create individual user accounts under one group that had access to the SMB share.....and that's when all my difficulties began.

Current dataset in question is "Mediaset":

Unable to replace failed disk via GUI (FreeNAS 11.3-U2.1)

I have a failed disk in my FreeNAS server. There are 8 2TB drives in a RAIDZ2 configuration. I have always been able to easily replace failed drives via the Legacy GUI but now that the Legacy GUI option is unavailable I'm attempting to do the replacement via the new GUI.

The failed disk was making a loud clicking sound, the activity light was not flashing and it was in an Unavailable state in the GUI so I placed it Offline, shut down the server and replaced the faulty disk. After powering...

I am building a Plex Media Server. I just did a new install of FreeNAS-11.3-U2.1. This is my first server build and I am new to Freenas. Any help would be appreciated.
I got my Pool set up and a dataset set up. I was able to set up SMB windows sharing. I have about 1.5 TB of movies that I am currently transferring over via SMB. The next thing I tried to do was get the Plex plug in and I got this Error......

UPDATE:

Welcome!
If you're running FreeNAS 11.3-U1/U2 and your Ubuntu VMs have no cursor response in the noVNC tab and/or constant I/O errors, let me just cut to the chase: shut down your VM, go to VM devices, and edit the Disk to use VirtIO (instead of AHCI). Do the same for networking (Intel to VirtIO). Reboot, should be good. Changing your core count from an even to odd count may fix this as well. NOTE: this...

List of known SMR drives

Hard drives that write data in overlapping, "shingled" tracks, have greater areal density than ones that do not. For cost and capacity reasons, manufacturers are increasingly moving to SMR, Shingled Magnetic Recording. SMR is a form of PMR (Perpendicular Magnetic Recording). The tracks are perpendicular, they are also shingled - layered - on top of each other. This table will use CMR (Conventional Magnetic Recording) to mean "PMR without the use of shingling".

SMR is well suited for...

I used to use denyhosts but ran into issues with it after an update of freenas in the past.

looked into fail2ban which can do the same thing, hope other people find this useful.

Purpose: Block SSHD attempts after multiple failed attempts as the amount of attacks i get slows my connection down.

Tested and written for FreeNAS 11.1

Quick 10gbe upgrade question

So i'm patiently awaiting delivery of my Netgear GS110MX for this and just thought i'd check that I should be ok.

My plan is to have a 10gbe link between my server and my windows machine for large file copies. I know the windows box is a simple pci-e adaptor and bam problem solved.

From my research for freenas in theory if i pick up a SolarFlare SFN5122F and a SPF+ module it should be just plug and play and picked up in driver? (obviously with the correct IP assignments etc being done)

Hi all-

I did some searching and couldn't find anything specifically targeted to this, but please feel free to point me in the right direction if this exists already.

I'm using FreeNAS 11.3x for a whole host of things - file server, plugins, manually-created jails, remote backup, vSphere storage container host (FreeNAS is running under vSphere with direct access to the storage subsystem) - the works. I had this box at home, but now it's living in a colo and I connect to some services over...
