Dell PowerEdge T710 for home server

I am planning my first FreeNAS home server and found an upgraded Dell PowerEdge T710 for US$550.00 that looks interesting. The server needs to run Plex, Nextcloud, Logitech Media Server (if a version exists that will run on FreeNAS) and it will be used as a file server in an mixed MacOS/Windows 10/Linux/IoT network. In the future I may add a security camera server that monitors a mix of 7 - 8 2.1MP and 4.2MP cameras. I have Netgear switches that support link aggregation.

how do i install plex media server WITHOUT INSTALLING all the garbage plexpass info

this might be a little long and may be asked before, this is my first post here so please forgive me .
I had FreeNAS 11.2 installed with a standard version of plex media server it did not have plexpass or any of the garbage that installs with it,
I could save my media to libraries and plex would download appropriate metadata for each library.
I only want to access my media from my local network, I do not want anyone/anything access to media from outside my network, I do not want streaming...

iscsi connection dropping vms read only

Hello All,

Since last couple of days our iscsi connection getting drop with below erros. Our freenas storage connected to kvm HV's via iscsi. All vms gone into read only mode. Please suggest what could be issue. we have checked there is no network connectivity issue.

I see the following errors during system start up o a brand new install:

ada0 is an SSD (cheap: Silicon Power) and it's the boot device which is connected straight on the motherboard's SATA port...

FreeNAS 11.2 all jail access failed after replicating a pool

I had all my jails running in a pool which is snapshot recursively once a day. I decide to replicate those to a different pool on the same server and having done that I couldn't access any jails. From the GUI all that showed was an activation of a pool request. From the NAS shell I got the following:

I want to put the file of apple photos application on a dataset, and use that file on my two computers, imac and macbookpro, is it possible? i see on past posts about nfs better than afp, but i don't understand why, and something about case insensitive. Anyone do it before?

I should probably explain my setup before explaining my performance issue. I have a server with FreeNAS11 on it and a Mellanox ConnectX-2 card and another server with two Mellanox ConnectX-2 cards bridged via vyOS in Hyper-V on Server 2016 and my Client is a normal gaming rig with a Mellanox ConnectX-2 card in it.

When I check with iperf I get 9Gbit from my FreeNAS to my Client which is just fine but when i have iperf as server on the FreeNAS box and check speed from my client to the...

This post is a follow-up solution for solving how to setup VLANS with 11.2U7 (https://forums.lawrencesystems.com/t/freenas-jails-with-vlan/3046/11). Both 11.2 and 11.3 are VLAN able, however the documentation for getting a working setup is lacking.

Replication over slow connection

I want to replicate the data on my not-yet-existing ZFS system to another not²-yet²-existing² ZFS system, but over a very slow connection that I sometimes have to use for other stuff exclusively.

So my approach would be:
1. zfs send into file
2. rsync the file (with many interruptions by reboots of the devices and the connection and by me needing the connection, but finally it will arrive!)
3. zfs receive the file (finish the replication and have all snapshots and metadata correctly).

FreeNAS 11.3-U3.2 How can I create multiple iSCSI extents on shell?

Hi!
I create multiple zvol with zfs command on shell.
But I can't find any batch scripts to create multiple iSCSI extents...:(

I'm also tried on new GUI, but there is a problem with zvol display sort order on iSCSI extent creation UI.
That combobox always show me a avol list random order.

Hence I wan't batch script to create multiple iSCSI extent that also faster than UI interface.

So i've been trying to figure this out and sometimes it stays away for a week or so, sometimes it's instantly back. Basically it's an alert i get.

Boot pool status is ONLINE: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An attempt was made to correct the error. Applications are unaffected..

So i went looking in other topics where i found someone recommending to zpool status -v, which gives me the following result.

Hello,

some time ago I read about FreeNAS, ZFS and it's possibilities and want to set up my own NAS for home use, mainly for sharing and backups, maybe a PLEX-Server later.
For testing and playing around I followed some hardware guides and recommendations (not from this forum, I found it too late) and endet up with frankenstein's NAS: I managed it to "run" which means it doesn't crash anymore every 5 minutes.... But I don't want to go into hardware detail, thats another story.

Jackett issue: could not add losslessclub indexer; SSL connection could not be established

Running FreeNAS 11.3-U3.2

I have Jackett installed as a jail (mono version 6.8.0.96). For the most part I have not encountered issues except for adding losslessclub as an indexer.
Whenever I add it, I get an error that "The SSL connection cound not be establised..."

I have tried to add this indexer on a Jackett installed on a Windows machine and it runs completely fine. Afaik, this is only an issue on my FreeNAS jail...
